Off at 65 mins in a 3-2 win. Stellies losing 2-1 win he came off. Did get the assist for their first goal

Valuable away win for Stellenbosch (up to 7th) against a higher placed team

Match highlights, incl ADJ's assist.

TS Galaxy play out of the Nelspruit stadium that was built for the 2010 Word Cup. From the scant crowd, those back then who said some of these new stadiums would be white elephants were probaly right

Stellies vs Zamalek in the CAF Confed Cup. Egypts "White Knights" are the defending champions and are undefeated in their group games. This matchup is going to be very tough for Stellenbosch. The PSL Big 3, MLS and European teams have raided Stellies talent and has already effected their season. Will Zamalek end their tournament? Very possible

If he could get comparable money in the ALM to what he's getting in the PSL, ADJ should be reaching out to Auckland FC.

The Black Knights have put FDV, Rogerson and Mata back into AWs contention. Pijnaker and Smith also looking better players. Launched Gillion's career.

If De Jong wants to have any chance of being at WC 2026 (he's 29 later this year), he needs to get out of Sth Africa. It's just too off the radar for Bazeley. Wouldn't surprise to see Brimmer leave Auckland early. He's on a 2 season deal, but has kids in Australia, and also has stated he wants to give Europe another go. If so, ADJ could be a ready made replacement.

Stellies 0-1 down at HT to Richards Bay, make 3 changes at the break including ADJ into the game. Finishes 1-1

I think there is a very high probability Adj will go to Auckland. The National team is a big draw but also playing for his hometown team. Also his never played in the ALM before which for him will be a big,big draw. His next contract could potentially be his last so his got a big decision to make (this is assuming that Auckland actually want Adj).

No ADJ as Stellenbosch win 2-1.

Stellies up to 5th. They won't catch the big 2 this season - Sundowns & Orlando Pirates - but finishing 3rd definitely achieveable.

Good news. ADJ scores.
Bad news. Stellies lose their QF 1-3.

It all happened late. With De Jong off the pine at 58 mins (0-1) to score at 86 mins.

Stellenbosch then concede twice post 95 mins.

Match highlights below. Go to 4 min mark to see ADJ's goal, a glancing header at a corner. Big loud crowd in PE. Mostly Kaizer Chiefs fans. I think all 4 QFs were being played at the same stadium.

Orlando Pirates vs Supersport united was played in Polokwane.
Stellies lost this game in super controversial circumstances again. The 2nd goal against Stellies, the linesman flags an infringement on the goalkeeper. The referee goes to consult with the linesmen because he didn't see it. After a short discussion the referee decides to award the goal. Shocking because the replay does show a slight infringement.
Anyway, so good to see Adj get on the score sheet again.

ADJ one of 2 guys subbed at HT in a 0-0 draw. Likely tactical changes with Stellies having a player sent off in the 35th min.

Good effort by 10 man Stellenbosch (3rd) to keep Orlando Pirates (2nd) to a draw. Pirates now 18 pts behind Mamelodi Sundowns (1st). Pirates do have 4 games in hand, but still looks same old same old. Another PSL title for Sundowns.

From the controversial 3-1 Cup loss on the weekend

Commentators in SA are really beginning to get suspicious of PSL referees when officiating Stellenbosch fc games.

The red card was so so soft. It looked like the striker was holding the defender more than vice versa.

With Zamalek they are 5 times winners of the CAF Champions League, have two CAF Confederation Cup titles, five CAF Super Cup titles and one African Cup Winners' Cup title. They will be very tough to beat in Cairo.

If Stellies maintain their current 3rd place in the PSL they will qualify again for the CAF Confederation Cup (CAF's 2nd tier club comp).

And on ADJ, I wonder if Fred had been in discussions with Auckland FC before he left to see his son. Danny Hay will know plenty about Andre to pass onto Corica.
If Brimmer leaves the Black Knights, ADJ would be a handy replacement.

What a boring game for Fred to watch. From the highlights it looked like both teams were employing a low block. Anyways its going to be a big problem in Cairo for Stellenbosch. CAF (Africa's football body) still insists on the away goals rule, which doesn't help the football and makes for a poor tv product. Now that Caf president Pat Motsepe has been reelected, fans are hoping that there will be a rule change. The rule definitely contributes to the gamesmanship in Africa, which is second only to South American football.

Adj will definitely be hoping to get on the plane to America (WC) next year so returning home will be a motivator. He will definitely be hoping for Auckland, but I think anywhere in the A-league will be an option. Still don't think his in Baz plans though. All whites are stacked in the midfield and Baz would probably prefer taking younger players for the experience

Long trip for ADJ and his mates to the big Egyptian capital. Long way from sleepy Stellenbosch.

2nd leg away to Zamalek in CAF Confederation Cup. Locked up at 0-0.

https://us.soccerway.com/matches/2025/04/09/africa/caf-confederation-cup/zamalek/vasco-da-gama/4616487/

As above if CAF still use the away goals rule, a scoring draw, and underdogs Stellies win the tie.

Stellenbosch 1 - 0 Zamalek

Stellies pull off a blinder in Cairo and advance to the African Confederations Cups semi-finals where they will meet Simba of Tanzania who is coached by South African Fadlu Davids. For Adj it will be another exotic location in Africa to travel too, with the boys hoping for a few days in Zanzibar to recover after the match. Stellies should be favourite but Fadlu Davids will be a fox in the hole for Simba.

Adj played 68 minutes. I think a few beers on the flight home is in order.

Superb effort Stellenbosch. ADJ off at 0-0.

Zanzibar! Great spot to visit. Sweaty Dar-es-Salaam, less so. Especially during Ramadan like we did by fate in 1998. One way to lose some kilos.
