So I've got potentially weirdly positive news for Adj which does not involve Adj

So Kaizer Chiefs may be the most popular club in South Africa, have a top band named after them but they are sh*t. They've been sh*t for a long time (like Man U) . So sh*t that the national team coach has stated he cannot pick 1 player from Chiefs for Bafana A and B squad.

However Austrian Bundesliga club SV Reid goes and purchases 29 year old South African, Yusuf Maart from Kaizer Chiefs. Maart is no where near the South African national team, is not really considered a top midfielder in the PSL and has never played in Europe before but has just got himself a dream move to Europe.

Football is crazy and in a weird way motivation for 28 year old Adj to keep pushing as somebody in Europe can be watching..

Stellies continues to lose key players to European clubs but the PSL Big 3 are the biggest admirers of the wineland clubs talent. As Adj enters his final 6 months of his contract will there be any suitors after his signature and will Stellenbosch FC continue to shine in the PSL and continental football?

The Mtn Top 8 competition kicks off the South African football season for year 25/26.

Stellenbosch 3-2 Amazulu

Adj started and was influential in Stellies attack. It was a great game (highlights on YouTube) to watch, with Stellies winning it in extra time.

Stellies dominant the first half after rightfully going down 10 men. Great free kick from KC to go 1 - 0 up. Stellies hit the bar twice in that dominant 1st half. Kaizer Chiefs then went on to dominate the 2nd half.

ADJ's assist about 1.30 mins into these highlights. Stellies in the white

Next 8 Cup semi final hosting Sekhukhune Utd.

No Dublin Boon in match day squad. Sounds like he will be very much no 3/4 GK at Stellenbosch and play in the PSL youth/reserve league.

Slow start to Stekkies fc PSL season. Very lucky not to go 2-1 down to Magesi who deserved a clear penalty. Referee was on his lunch break so is South Africa's Sports Minister who promised VAR by this season.

Great assist by Adj and goal by 20 years old Langelihle Phili.

PSL reserve League (called the Diski Challenge) starts on 6 September

The highlights show a moment (53 minute) when Adj is played through on goal after some neat Stellies interplay. Instead of striking first time he decides to leave it for a striker in a worst position. The striker is surprised the ball it let for him (worst position) and the opportunity is missed.

Yes it's still the beginning of the season but as an advanced midfielder (and senior player on the team) he needs to be more selfish and put your body more on the line for that goalscoring opportunity. He wants to get on the plane for the WC, he needs to put those away. Get more selfish Andre!

Nicha Cache. 8 Cup Final summary

There was a sellout crowd at Mbombela Stadium for the MTN8 Cup final as the same two teams from 2024 final returned again in 2025. Orlando Pirates won 3-1 last year. This time Andre De Jong and his mates took them much deeper, forcing extra time after a scoreless ninety minutes... but that was where they ran out of steam. Pirates scored in a flurry and left with a 3-0 victory and another trophy. ADJ played the full thing. Got a yellow card right near the end. He was up for it, probably his team’s most influential attacker, but the luck wasn’t there and nobody’s doubting that the better team won.

Nevertheless, this was another great cup run from Stellies. In 2023 they won the Carling Knockout Cup to deliver the club’s first ever top-level trophy (alongside the First Division title they won five years earlier). Since then they’ve also been runners up in the MTN8 twice, made the semis of the CAF Confederation Cup, and managed consecutive third-placed finishes in the Premiership.

Terrible game for Stellies. 1st Amazulu goal is scored on the 45 min of the first half. This is just unforgivable for a football team. Every professional knows that peak concentration needs to be in the last 10 minutes of the first half (not the only dangerous time). Goals scored in that time boosts your opponents moral going into half time.

2nd goal for Amazulu was in the 47th, 48th minutes of the 1st half. Shocking professionalism from Stellies FC. Stellies coach is going to work them hard in the next training session lol. Unforgivable

Andre de Jong to Orlando Pirates?

South African media are speculating that Adj is about to join the Buccaneers of  Soweto. Adj contract with Stellenbosch FC comes to an end in January 26 and is still eligible to move as the South African transfer window is still open.

The "Ghost" as Orlando Pirates supporters are known, rate Adj very highly and will welcome the Kiwi onboard the Pirate Ship

South African transfer window now closed. Doesn't look like Orlando Pirates got Adj over the line.

To be honest, besides a lot more money, Caf Champions League football in a WC year, I'm really happy Adj dodged this bullet. If he had signed, Adj was going to compete with 3 Bafana Bafana players. Even though Orlando Pirates will be playing near 50 games a season, Adj would have struggled regardless.

This approach however serves as validation for all the hard work he has put in. Keep it up!
