I thought it was a bold call from 'Cammy'

He wasn't getting picked as it was so its a bit billy big balls to say he has put club before country when country were not picking him.

On the other hand, it' a great excuse for why you're not playing international football: "it's not that I'm not good enough, it's that I choose not to."

There may also be an element of "I've just arrived and am keen to suck up to the coach/fans" in his comment - not to mention the reality that this really is his last chance to make it and he needs to play - a lot.

In a couple of seasons if/when he's worth a bit more to the club then perhaps things may change. And to be honest, if he doesn't then he won't be playing much AW's football anyway. He's not silly.

Good needs to be playing. Decent enough level - prob like playing league 1 or 2 in uk

My team Plymouth Argyle have signed a lot of Scottish Premiership players this season, some of which look like bench warmers so I'd be inclined to say he'll be playing League 2 Level.

Decent effort to score at Ibrox. It sounds like St Mirren should have at least got a point.

20 games this season but hasn't set foot on the pitch in the last 11 games. Has been an unused sub for most of them too, so not injured. Contract ends 31 May. You would guess it's probably not going to get renewed.

Might be worth a look at the Nix?

He can't get off the bench in the Scottish second tier and he plays as a winger or AM, neither of which we need. I think signing him would be a waste of a squad spot for the Nix.

I reckon he'll probably end up at a non-league club in England

didn't he play deeper for the AWs?

Plus has had more experience than Ridenton/Rufer, so perhaps provides a ready to go back up. Not sure how many spots we've got left and we need defenders I guess, but still good Kiwi player with professional experience. Worth thinking about at least. Left footed.

If he has to come back to the ASBP, why not for the 'Nix, so he could be there as a back up if needed?

Or do we think he's just not good enough at all?

Howieson, Payne, Tuiloma, Boyd (plus locally Rufer, Riddenton, Fenton etc). These lads have to give an overseas league a shot if they get the opportunity. If it doesn't work out though, how handy would a 2nd NZ A league club be? Been in pro environments for a few years. If they cant make regular A league after a season or two back here though, they would need to consider their career choices.

We've got 18 guys contracted for next season and 23(?) spots. The only defenders contracted at the moment are Fox, Dura, and Doyle. Maybe Fenton if you count him. Rufer hasn't been re-signed yet.

Howieson wouldn't be a starter and I don't think that as a backup he would add enough, over and above the guys we already have, to be worth using a squad space on. Maybe if we still have space at the start of the season and he hasn't got a club I'd take him, but not right now

IMO Howieson is greater than Payne and Rowe and more versatile than Boyd. Definitely has the game to play Ernie's style. As you say it would depend on our balance, but we should be looking. Kiwi so no visa issues and plenty of room to improve and potentially be a very good A league player.

exactly what we need. Another player at the wrong end of the pitch. Maybe we should convert him... like say Fenton? I wonder how that will go.

Considering the needs of the team and the talent he has, how does signing him help us in a position of need? It does not.

Nice to have but not need to have.

It has been confirmed this afternoon that the following players won’t be offered new deals for next season when their present contracts expire:

Sean Kelly
Jim Goodwin
Alan Gow
Stuart Carswell
Cameron Howieson
Scott Agnew
Barry Cuddihy
Jaison McGrath
Alex Cooper

Steven Thompson won’t be back next season as he has decided to retire.

Keith Watson has also left St Mirren having agreed a deal with Premiership side St Johnstone.

David Clarkson and Lawrence Shankland also return to their parent clubs after their loan spells with St Mirren.

We want to thank all the players leaving for their services to the Club and to wish them all the best for the future.

Can you go any lower than 2nd tier Scottish football?

Very sad. Remeber watching him play back here in NZ and he looked a real talent. Where to from here? Don't see the 'Nix needing him.

The clubs & their supporters can every years hope for/believe in promotion.

3 years ago the talk was of Liverpool and Man U going after him. I hope he saved his pennies when at Burnley and they signed him to a pro contract.

I haven't watched his recent games, but the whole story, plus some good shifts for the AWs suggest he's got talent, but needs a coach and situation to reboot his career.
