Ben Waine (Port Vale | England)

According to either PAFC.co.uk or the Plymouth Herald, Rooney has openly said he's not really seen Ben yet as he's spent the majority of the Euro summer playing for NZ. I think Argyle are giving him a rest.

I still think we need to send him out of loan to a L1/2 side as West Brom did for Woodsie all those years ago.

As an aside I think we'll be looking for a new manager sooner, rather then later.

Bit of a worry for Waine given Rooney is playing 2 up, as well as their goal scoring winger, and Hardie on the bench. That’s a lot of strikers he needs. I’d be introducing myself and taking tapes from last season and general highlights!

As well they’ll need some forwards who can get back and defend and I’m sure Waineo fits that category.

League Cup tie tonight. Plymouth Argyle host Celtenham Town. Hopefully some minutes for Waineo.

Rooney apparently operating with a 4-2-3-1 formation and throughout preseason new signing Tijani and Hardie never shared the pitch. It was always one or the other.  So Ben now the no 3 striker at the Pilgrims? If it looks to stay that way after a month or so, a loan deal maybe for the best.

Finished a 3-0 win over L2 Cheltenham Town. Looks like it was that 4-2-3-1 shape.

Hardie (2nd goal) up front, Waineo out on the left. Bundu off the pine with the Pilgrims 3rd. All presenting Rooney with some cases to pick them for league games.

Good position for Waineo to start out wide, with license to drift in.

Hardie off the bench into the starting lineup, this week in The Championship. Waine onto the pine. Tijani who started up front last weekend in the 4-0 loss to Wednesday not in the match day squad.

Apologies all, I guess McOnie was going to be in Plymouth on England's Monday. We might be seeing Waine on the Thursday show instead

Argyle have just signed Obafemi on loan from Burnley. He is another striker so Ben could well be going out on loan to  L1 club. Rooney has said they need to get get their numbers down to reduce the wage bill.

With that news, yeah hopefully Plymouth are looking at a loan deal somewhere. Waineo needs to be playing. He must be getting tired of just 10-20 min cameos, outside of Cup games.

As some sort of comparison Wood had a near whole season (29 games, 22 starts)  with Brighton in League One as a 20 year old.

Waine drops out of the match-day squad altogether.

Seeing a lot more chat about a possible loan move, but not hearing much re: specifics.

Hopefully something eventuates between now and the transfer window closing.

Yipe new signing Obafemi straight on the bench.
1-1 at HT, Plymouth down to 10 men, with a midfielder sent off.

Wonder if Des at Oxford wants a loan striker he knows?

But I imagine Waine's better to drop to L1 or dare I say it L2, so he's starting most weeks.

Edit - 91 mins, and Plymouth now down to 9 men. Off goes 18 yr replacement forward Issaka. So Waine might be needed next week. There is a midweek League Cup game against Watford as well.

Finishes 1-1. Perhaps QPR do need Sarpreet Singh. Over 60 mins against 10 men at home & can't get a 2nd goal.

Given the reds we've had today maybe he'll be here a little while longer. If not its easy to pop up the A38 to the old enemy Exeter City. Doing ok in League 1 and only 40 mins away.

League Cup 2nd Round, Plymouth travel to Watford. Hornets have started the Championship impressively, 3 wins from 3 games.

Hopefully Waine gets some mins, noting with a 2 team mates sent off against QPR he could at least make the bench in the Championship this weekend.

No sign of him on the team sheet for tonight’s game. It’s a beautiful warm evening here in Watford. C’mon you Greens!

Surely hes looking for a loan this season then. Always needed a season in league one before making the step up to Championship so hopefully he can get a move to a league one team where he'll play every week.

I heard Bradford City (League Two), but not sure on reliability! Signed a guy from Argyle this window already (Tyreik Wright) but have a crapton of forwards already. I'm sure there's a lot of teams in for him anyway

Damaged his standing by not being at the club pre-season? Or by not seeking out the gaffer and talking to him asap? Or by sounding a bit posh?

Or by not having played good football recently?

Plymouth lost to Watford. Not a good sign if Waineo can't make the pine in the League Cup. Hopefully it all means he's headed off somewhere on loan.

Forward Freddie Issaka coped a 3 match ban (including last night's Watford game) for his red on the weekend at QPR.

Unlikely to move to Bradford, we've just taken a young striker on loan from Fulham for the season. And we're actively trying to cut our number of forwards in the squad. There'll be plenty of League 2 teams looking out for someone before the end of the window so he'll have options if he wants to go and try get some playing time

Send him to Northampton Town so that him and Tzanev can get Dibs fully bought in on the All Whites

Hopefully doesn't hinder any potential loan move on deadline day (closes 11pm UK time - 10am Saturday morning NZT).

Funnily enough from the post further up, now seeing some chatter around Northampton Town potentially making a move - Kiwis love turning up at clubs overseas in multiples don't they? MDD & Tzanev already being at Northampton of course.

Guess we'll wait and see.

Needs to be playing. Seems like he’ll be screwed if he stays at Plymouth. Seems like he’s not really in Rooney’s plans. Can’t afford a nothing season.

I certainly don't think he is on Rooney's radar. Time to move on to QPR, we need a decent striker there.
