Thank fark!

Couldn't stand the thought of him possibly signing up North with that bunch.

in all honesty I didnt think he was ever going to AFC

The offer was there.

Happy to see him stay on in the UK though.

Probably the best news out of the end of season transfer window so far. Good on him. Hope this is the season he finally gets his chance to get stuck in consistently.

Genuinely had him pegged for a disastrous fall from grace and reluctantly popping up in the LOI or the UCL. So glad hes going to get another stab at a decent level to keep building.

Yeah great news, and a vote of confidence from the Valiants with it being a 2 year deal. I thought he may have to drop down to L2 or even the National League for a season.

He justs needs to keep plugging away in the UK, and hopefully that breakout goal scoring season will eventually happen. Good news for the AWs longer term. I thought he actually played alright against Ukraine.

And if it doesn't work out, maybe PV Club President Robbie Williams can form a new boy band with baby face Ben on vocals.

Promoted Port Vale have bounced straight back to L1, after being relegated to L2 season 2023/24. They were 2nd in L2 last season.

https://www.port-vale.co.uk/news/ben-waine-valiant

First-team manager, Darren Moore, said: "We're really pleased to welcome Ben to the club. He's a young striker who will come in and give us something different, and another player who has experienced this level, as well as the international stage.

"We'll look forward to embedding him into the group and continuing his development here at Vale Park."

Am I imagining things or was there an AW fringe player who had a brief stint at Port Vale semi recently?

Wynne was there last season but didn’t seem to do much.

Still think he is one the Nix should look at seriously for the left back posi

Auckland will rise once more

Deklan Wynne not younger bro Ronan.

And yeah agree Deklan (now at Green Gully in the VIC NPL) should be on the Nix's radar. Recently turned 30, so fits in that age range that Chiefy said was a void in the squad. Should be cheap.

Wynne an AW not that long ago, and I'm not sure LKH's best spot is LB/LWB.

LkH is not a left wing back or full back. Feel he needs some consistency to progress.

Via Niche Cache. Lots of comments below the tweet wishing him well (some from Plymouth fans) which is nice to see

Ben Waine: “To be fair, I knew there was a little bit of interest towards the back of last season so I did keep an eye on how Port Vale were doing. And it was really awesome to see how well they did in the end and obviously to get promoted is huge for the club and the area. Then speaking with Darren Moore, it’s just excited me the project that is here and what they think they can do for me as a player and what I can bring to the team. It just all seemed to come together, to be honest.”

In that interview he also stressed how valuable it’ll be for him to have gotten this deal done bright and early (this was announced within hours of his previous contract ending), giving him a full preseason with his new team. That quote above also confirmed that this wasn’t some sudden whim from Port Vale – they very much targeted him even while he was struggling at Mansfield Town. That sounds like a team that believes in what he’s got to offer.

PV's away strip will look familar to Ben W.

Instant impact from Waine.
The forward wins possession back high up the field before feigning onto his left foot and rolls the ball past the 'keeper and into the back of the net for our fifth goal!

75mins behind closed doors 3-1 loss to Notts County.
Vale started the second half the brighter of the two sides and had the chance to take the lead in the 51st minute when Stockley got on the end of Waine’s cross and knocked the ball down into the path of Paton, but his effort on the spin was well-blocked by the Notts defence.

Match Report | Everton 2-1 Port Vale

Ruari Paton becomes the first player to score past Everton in the brand-new Hill Dickinson Stadium as Darren Moore’s Valiants lose narrowly to Premier League opposition in our latest pre-season outing.

The Vale took the lead inside the second minute when a lovely one-touch move between WAINE, Tolaj and Paton resulted in the latter side-footing past Pickford from just inside the area.

Paton came close to adding his second of the game with twenty minutes on the clock when he did well to bring down a ball over the top and outmuscle the defender before curling towards goal from around 20 yards, but Pickford was equal to it and parried out for a Vale corner.

Everton were at near full-strength in the first half, but had to be patient for their first half-chance of the game came when Ndiaye got on the end of a looped free kick into the box, but could only scuff his effort past Marosi’s left-hand post.

Another sweeping one-touch move from Vale almost resulted in the second goal of the game when the ball found its way to  WAINE on the left of the box, but his curling effort went just past Pickford’s left-hand post.
Off at half time.

So excited for this EFL season!

Waineo returns to action in League One this weekend, Crocombe, Bindon, and Libby next weekend in the Championship.

A group of us went to Altrincham on Tuesday night for the Port Vale friendly, only to see he wasn't in the squad and had played 75 mins three days before.

Club and Ben both got in touch which is class so we can organise a proper away day at Port Vale later in season with fan game, pub with the locals etc.

Likely he will play off the bench, they like his pace and some speculate that with a front three he could start.

Ahh missed that, the new Soccerway format is a bit shark.
Yes PV down to 10 men (straight red) at 32 mins. That will explain the 3 changes at HT, incl Waineo off.

Just watched extended highlights of the game, the 1st goal port vale look like they are doing abit of a high press, the ball is played to who Waine would be marking, he makes a huge effort to get back and try make a tackle but the ball is crossed In for a beauty of a goal.
Later on in the half Waine gets the ball just past half way center right, carries it forward to the right before passing to the right sided winger, he then cuts back towards center goal receives the cross gets good head to it but it’s straight at the keeper, but still a great passage of play and good vision from him

Oh decent got league one with the platform I’m on. No Ben Old, but maybe Crocombe, Waine and Libby. Wish Stamenic had taken a Championship gig too! Not sure Forest is going to be that happy a place this season…

Comes off the bench at 75min in a 0-0 draw.
Did well defensively by intercepting balls and forcing a few turnovers (he even got a yellow for his troubles).
Unfortunately, he had a really good chance but decided to go for an unlikely shot (which missed by a lot) instead of playing a teammate...
Late on he did make a clever run and squared a promising ball but the Cardiff defense was able to clear.

All in all, a decent - if short - shift.
Hopefully he gets more in the weeks to come.

Really hope I'm wrong, but with Waineo back to the bench this morning and PV signing big unit Faal (1.96m) on loan from Wrexham, could see this going similar to Mansfield Town. From memory at MT, Waine started a few games early on, didn't really grab his opportunities, and then was very much a bit part player.

Very early days and hope I'm wrong, but he needs to score or have an assist or two soonest you feel. Has to offer more than just a high work rate, and working his butt off.

Yes and Mo Faal didn't impress in League One last season, he didn't manage a goal in the league for Wrexham and didn't end up with much playing time due to lack of goals
