When do we get to see these young midfield players in the All Whites? Who does he play like? What are the strengths of his game?

Not sure who he plays like, but if http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ew3B7xqO23g shows anything, I think he likes taking long range shots ^_^

seems promising...likes to attack around the box. Didn't show much of his defence, distribution or technique.

Played 90 for the reserves in a 2-1 win over Vancouver

not sure where he played in this game but saw a mention that he was at centre back in their 1-0 loss to Seattle a week earlier

From an ESPN blog

MLS RESERVE LEAGUE
Seattle Sounders at Galaxy
Home Depot Center University Field 1 (Carson), 11 a.m.
The joys of watching Reserve League soccer come from seeing players close up -- some of them starters in the big games, too -- and hear what's being said on the field. (Warning: Cursing is involved!) It's also nice to see young players with talent that haven't played on MLS's big stage. Our favorite among that group, on the Galaxy, is Ivy Leaguer Dan Keat, a holding midfielder from New Zealand.

Were really prepared for that, Galaxy coach Bruce Arena said. I think were prepared with five players. We have four center backs with Omar, A.J., Gregg and Sean. Weve done that starting in preseason out. Bryan Jordan has had some time in that position as well.

In Tuesdays Reserve League match, Dan Keat and Kyle Davies paired in central defense, while Jovan Kirovski has also seen time there during reserve matches.

Great to see Keatsy get some decent minutes for the 1st team against Real Madrid! Positive signs... surely he must be involved in the AW's setup sometime soon....

I agree not a lot of people can say that they played 20 minutes vs a big club like Real Madrid

Hopefully he will be able to push for more minutes in Galaxy's 1st team for the remainder of the MLS. Has been pretty unlucky with injuries throughout his career to date.

When healthy, we're a team that has options at a number of positions," coach Bruce Arena said. "Right now, we happen to be pretty thin at the back. The loss of Leonardo (knee surgery) hurt us and then the combination of having Gregg out and now Omar out, that's been a difficult position to fill and it hurts our rotation at left back to give Todd a little bit of a break."

The Galaxy were able to get some new faces on the field, particularly Dan Keat, Ryan Thomas and Kyle Davies. Even veteran Jovan Kirovski got time in the second half.

"They were great," Donovan said. "It should have been overwhelming, but they stepped in and did a good job. All the rookies did a good job. Ryan was great, Danny Keat did well, Jovan came in and did well. It's encouraging because we're going to need some of those guys later in the year."

While the Galaxy countered with players like Perk, Paolo Cardozo, Dan Keat and Ryan Thomas, the chance for such youngsters was unique.

For a lot of our guys [it was] a really good opportunity to play against players they may or may not ever get to play against again, and a good learning experience, Donovan said. Obviously when youre a competitor you want to do better, you want the result to be better but I think it was a good opportunity for our guys and they made the most of it."

That's quality. SURELY if fit there is no way he can be overlooked for the next All Whites squad

Am glad he is doing well, I always worried about the midfield for the all whites, seems to of been problematic for us lately.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

You would have to think that Keat as a holding midfielder would be the obvious eventual replacement for Tim Brown at the AW's. Especially if he continues with his development at LA Galaxy. Training daily with the likes of Beckham and Donovan must be a huge buzz!!!

On the bench against Timbers at the moment, I can see him coming on in the second half.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.
