Thanks for the last two hugely interesting-yet-not-very-relevant pages folks!

If he doesn't have a deal that has priced him out from us I just don't understand why we are letting him go?

Perhaps he was offered a reduced contract that is not up to his expectations.

His angry outburst about his teammates in that post match interview might have been a hint about his reasons for not sticking around

I think that is probably what has happened, but I don't understand it unless we have a goal keeping replacement lined up, which we clearly don't.

He's anaging player whose form has declined in the past few seasons (imo anyway). It's entirely possible he wanted to go elsewhere or wanted more money and the club didn't want to pay it.

Ernie already poaching players!

Funny how those South African rumours must have clearly just been his agent trying to get a better price for him.

was Moss our most important player to retain?

We only have Sail on the books as a keeper, so it isn't exactly ideal. Domey must see it as a position that we could save a few dollars on by going with a less experienced option, so we can spend that cap elsewhere.

Gilly, not Domey.

Nah, he was an adequate keeper but hardly irreplaceable.

This is interesting in the sense that I don't think Moss suited Ernie's preferred style of play very well.

You know we belong together...

He does appear to fit the key criteria of being willing to play for Newcastle though

Ernie will also know what Moss was on so making it easier to pitch an offer without blowing the bank.

Ernie quits

Nix have 6 months to re-sign Moss

Ernie gets a new job

Ernie signs the best available keeper

Doesn't really matter if Ernie knew how much we were offering him & how much he wanted, we have had plenty of time to re-sign him if we thought he was worth how much he was asking. Ernie obviously thinks he is.

I agree, sorry, it was pretty unclear, I more meant the details - what we have offered (if anything), when we did that, was he told he wasn't wanted...  stuff we will never get to know.  Not implying some sort of conspiracy.

Dunno- looking at the record of the last 5 years we played some scintillating football for one of them and crap and mental weakness for all the rest.

Lots of reset buttons needing to be pushed and this is obviously Moss doing his.

Do we need a real estate mogul to run us on expectations and hype? I know Terry had the end we all wish for Trump, but sometimes we yearn for a little hype and huckster over sensible mediocrity...

And also...are we really going to be worse than the Jets next year, or the year after that? If anyone ever needs motivating at Phoenix HQ, I can think of a quote to stick on the wall, even though negative motivation isn't a great idea....

Good start to the off season in terms of interest. Not sure how it is in terms of building a great squad. But as I said in the other thread both Merrick and Moss have been senior members of the 'Nix for the last 5 years. Our great season was great, but we were dire in the finals series and weak at all other times.

Why say he was a goalkeeper in that last line? i could never figure that because obviously he was the goalkeeper or he would not have been handling the ball for starters....and picking it up out of the net far too often. Watch for a Liam Reddy return ;)

Should've stayed with us. No competition and he could have been playing for a couple more years, instead of warming up the bench at Newcastle.

I'd imagine he's he incumbant. The only reason he was on the bench for the last game was he was carrying an injury.

According to transfermarkt he has played 9 games this season..so about half. He must have been on the bench every time I kept an eye on the Jest...

Duncan started until he got hurt, then Moss took over. Duncan has just come back from injury but Ernie had kept Moss starting because he has been in good form. Will be interesting to see who gets the nod this weekend.

Duncan is off contract as well but Moss got re-signed first, wonder what we can take from that ...

That we should never let him go nor left Buckingham in charge to bench him. Moss is far superior to Italiano.

Moss wasn't let go, his contract ended and he moved to a new club.

Sure, the way last season went might have something to do with that, but by all accounts it wasn't just the coaching staff that he was fed up with here.
