USL Cup
Collier a rare start alongside Musa. Indy up 1-0 at HT.
Edit - Indy win 2-1. Full game Musa, 62 mins (2-0) Collier

Adams starts for Louisville. 0-0 at HT
Edit - Louisville win 2-1. Full game Adams.

Bidois starting for Loudoun. 0-0 at 20 mins
Edit - Bidois 56 mins (1-0) and the goal in a 1-1. Loudoun up 1-0 until 103rd min. Then lose the pen shootout that followed. Tough

No Greive for San Antonio. 'lower body injury'

Takes himself to 7 goals this season in all comps. Loudoun need to turn there form around in the league, hopefully Riley can be the focal point for that. His numbers per 90 are still good just needs more starts!

Mata stank up the joint in the USL, went to Ireland and completrly kickstarted his career - with what he’s shown, no reason Riley can’t do similar. Even a jump straight to ALM wouldn’t be a bridge too far
27 Jul 21:14 · edited 27 Jul 22:52 · History
For players like him a 3rd NZ ALM team (ChCh) could be a lifeline. It’s unlikely the Nix would take him back. It’s Supyk then Flowerdew next - the Academy sell on model

But lots of young Aussies get released by their first ALM club only to restart their careers at another ALM club. That’s still not really an option for young Kiwis. Auckland did sign Toomey but they more want immediate success and higher grade AWs players

Hopefully yes Bidois can leave the USL soon. It’s too off the radar

Niche Cache.
Ronan Wynne (Atlanta) & James Bulkeley (Dallas) may also be a chance of a senior debut in the Leagues Cup

The next week is going to be crammed with Leagues Cup games, where MLS and Liga MX clubs battle it out for some reason. Minnesota are in a group with three Mexican clubs: Queretaro, Club America, and San Luis. They’ve named a big squad for that which Boxall is part of although, again, it would make sense to do some rotating in these games... so keep an eye on kiwi U20s international Troy Putt who is also part of the wider 30-man squad for this competition. He already made an appearance in a midseason friendly not so long ago. This could be a chance for a competitive senior debut.

Bidois starts for Loudoun.

Riley with the goal! Clean finish & run… he’s coming for that WC spot. Olympics redemption time :)
02 Aug 01:09 · edited 02 Aug 03:13 · History
Steady on. He's mostly been a bench player in the USL this season to date. Some awful defending for this goal.

Bidois one to watch though. Makes good runs.
Wood like, he seems to judge his movement off the last defender nicely.
Maybe like Mata he could try a move from the USL to LOI. Football in Ireland just being more on the radar, than 2nd tier USA.

From Niche Cache this week (before today's goal)
Riley Bidois has scored seven goals across all competitions this year and he’s done that at a rate of a goal every 141 minutes. Very efficient work from the lad from Tauranga.

Bidois off at 62 mins (1-1).
Loudoun go on to lose 3-2, with a 95th min winner for Tulsa who do lead the Western Conference.

Tomorrow
Indy Eleven (7th in the East) host Steve Coleman's Tampa Bay (11th)

Louisville City (2nd in the East) host North Carolina (4th)

San Antonio (2nd in the West) host Sacramento (4th)
Minny II host Houston II

North Texas host Colorado Rapids II

I know he hasn’t locked down his starting spot, again subbed off early?? But he’s been taking his chances for a long time now. Gets himself in the right spots and can finish off both feet & head. Unfortunately Loudoun hit struggle street recently.

Doesn't get a mention at all in the commentary but that's Putt on the far right with the lovely feet, and nice pass to create the goal for scorer Hille.

Putt could be one to watch at the U20 WC next month.

Loudoun United just signed two forwards :/ both with reasonable pedigree for USL. Not great for Riley

I don't think it will go that way for him. Despite being predominantly a substitute option up until recently, he's still 2nd in goal scoring for the club this season across all competitions, and he's seemingly hit a good bit of form from an individual perspective, even if Loudoun have been struggling for results of late.

But if it does end up panning out in a negative way for him at Loudoun, he does apparently have interest from other USL and CPL teams for his services. 🫣

Oh that’s super interesting! Where did you hear that? just based off numbers p90 you can see why. I’m surprised Loudoun’s star player Aboukoura hasn’t earned a move yet

I have my ways. 🙂

Rumoured interest from North of the border was with Atletico Ottawa. Unsure of the USL team/s linked, but I'm going on what I've been told.

Information gathered from the past two or so weeks.

Ronan Wynne a full game for Atlanta II in a 3-1 win at Toronto II

Troy Putt comes into the game off the bench at HT, as Minny II lead Sporting KC II at the break 1-0. Maybe he's been training with the first team during the Leagues Cup, as only getting half games of late with the 2nd team in MLS Pro Next.

Putt with the assist as Minny II win 3-2. His 2nd assist in two games.
Man all those different pitch markings must be annoying.

Same same. Musa starts and Collier on the pine as Indy Eleven (7th in the East) travel to Detroit City (6th)
Edit - Musa a full game and Collier on at 91 mins (1-0) in a 1-0 loss. Indy down to 10 men in the first half (0-0).
Collier seems a bit of a faded force. Amazing in a way he got 2-3 seasons in the MLS, without ever doing much

No Bidois as Loudoun (3rd in the East) travel to Rhode Island (8th). Riley may have a niggle? Subbed off early in the last game

Adams starts in a biggie. Louisville City (1st in the East) host Charleston (2nd on GD)
Edit - Louisville with a dominant 4-1 win over. LC go atop the Eastern Conference 3 pts clear of Charleston.
LC played a friendly against Frankfurt from the Bunedsliga back on 30th July.
5-2 win for the Germans.

Greive still out for San Antonio with a 'lower body injury'

Still no Linder as Whitecaps II travel to Town.

No Troy Putt for Minny II. He's missed their last 2 games. Hopefully nothing serious, as he could be an important player at the U20 WC.
