I get that, but I always think of the Smeltz example. He was not lighting up a weaker league but then hit the ground running in the A-League.
Also, 54 matches and 14 starts sounds respectable but I'd be interested to know what that translates to in terms of minutes. I remember when he was still in the MLS and I was keeping tabs to see if he played, and often when he was subbed on it was only for a few minutes at a time.
