To be fair, they made an announcement as he forecast.

What did they announce?

Piney announced that they had no announcements after Simon announced that they did. The last thing we want is for the few reporters who support football in NZ to turn on each other with these announcement wars.

The only way for the club to stop their only media coverage from descending into bloody battle is to relieve the tension by actually announcing something.

Might as well announce a 10 year licence extension - then, after the flood of positive comments from the general footballing community (not the handful of flogs on 442), the FFA will not be able to stop it happening.

Which isn't a huge surprise.

Yeah, 750-800k for 3 season would be more realistic in my mind.

Berisha is on a mill a season. I reckon kosta is one of top 10 best players in comp. could garner 450k per season. 750 over 3 seasons you a kidding!

Permalink Permalink

The article said that at 750k he would be the third highest paid player in the comp and earning more than Berisha

Permalink Permalink

Ah right 1.5 over 2 years. Ok so 450 would be ballpark

Avoids a red card in the derby scores a goal his 5th of the season to go with his 10 assists hard to argue statistically at least that he isn't the most in form winger in the competition. Is he 100% go for the next  season ?

Love the revisionist history coming out from a lot of Vuc fans - "he will be easily replaced.", "he isn't that good anyway", "don't worry, we have Jai Ingham".

I had a quick peak and their forum and most of them were pretty good about it. Some were talking about killing him, etc. But most were praising his professionalism and were of no doubt that he would give his all for the ACL campaign.

Crap. Am I talking in the wrong place?  Need to get some facebooks.

They were also saying you can't blame a player for wanting to return home and they were happy for the three years of service. I was surprised at how balanced they were compared to the stereotype, and what you see on other forums (and I guess facebook) from tard fans.

Do you think part of the on the side stuff was, Durante leaving at some point soon come back establish yourself and you might be future captain?? 3 years gives him time to establish himself and become part of the leadership group, he is the right age for a future captain and he is a wellington boy so almost a perfect fit.

Thoughts??

I don't know him obviously, but his on field presence does not scream future captain at me.

I kind of think to be a captain you need to be part of the defense so you're always looking forwards at the team in front of you.

You mean like Bryan Robson ? Or  Wayne Rooney or David Beckham or Alan Shearer or Steven Gerrard or Kevin Keegan or David Platt just to name a few recent England Captains

That's probably why it's gone so wrong for them.

Kosta's a prancing pony.  Fun to watch.

Captains are totally focused legal killers.

.... by which I mean,

they make the hard calls

they are demanding and lead from the front

and they are extremely focused on standards, improvement and winning.

Often very decent, caring, civil people with very high moral and professional standards, but they only know one way and that's through, over, around and forwards.  Legal killers of anything stopping them.

Just couldn't help sharing that thought.  No problem. :)

Yes, on reflection probably should have stopped at Robson.

A step in the right direction but still not a striker..need someone who will score 10-15 goals per season.

Well for lots of teams if you have someone that is overwealmingly the biggest personality then you make them captain, and the biggest personalities / players with the biggest profile are usually attacking players. They might not do much on field organisation but they can lead by example and use their celebrity to help push the teams agenda with the refs. You can of course have multiple leaders on the field, but those that are in the best position to see the game are in the defensive unit.
