Helped set up the opportunity for Archie Thompson who was fouled in the box on 85 minutes and earned a penalty which tied the game 2-2 on Saturday.

Has scored two good goals in his four games in the Asian Champions League this season. Stats:

http://int.soccerway.com/players/costa-barbarouses/17645/

A good standard of play in these games and some great goals judging from the highlights I've watched.

Highlights of all Melbourne Victory's ACL games this season:

Kosta scores in these ones:

Melbourne Victory vs.Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors: AFC Champions League 2014 (MD2)

Melbourne Victory vs Yokohama F Marinos: AFC Champions League 2014 (MD3)

I still feel Barbarouses was better in his final season for the Roar than he was for the Victory this season. He was good, yes, but I had hopes he would carve up the A-League on his return. I think next year will be huge for him.

Permalink Permalink

Yeah 33 games in his Roar season for 12 goals and 4 assists. With MV he has from 26 games 6 goals and 7 assists. Victory are solid this season but most of their key players have not played together before. in 11/12 Roar has Franjic, Mckay, Nichols, Smith, Broich, Steffanato, theo who had been together for a few years. A big season next year then a move back to Greece ? ha maybe fingers crossed.

He's been overshadowed by the far better player in Troisi - Kosta still misses way too many chances.

Well maybe if he was a City player and not a Victory one.

Goal and assist last night in a 3-0 derby win. 2 goals and 6 assists this season from RW pretty decent without being spectacular

His best performance of the season, I thought. Made pretty much all the right decisions, wasn't selfish - great assist.

Goal and assist again 2 goals 7 assists this season has him equal second on the assists tally with Broich behind only set peice specialist and team mate Finkler

Actually he's got three goals now this season.

Watched the game last night.

That was one of his best performances in his A-League career.

One of the best A-League goals this season and one of the best assists.

Great to see Smeltzy back in ace form scoring two goals too (one a fantastic looping header).

Barbarouses has stepped it up these past few weeks. If Barbarouses is making the right decisions and finishing the chances he gets then there are not too many better players in the league.

1st half spectacular, 2nd half seemed to disappear and was eventually replaced.

From the Melbourne age. I didn't see the game but this is a naive comment. Anyone recall when Kosta has done this?? Barbarouses said Ryall should have come clean on Saturday night and told referee Strebre Delovski that the incident

Barbarouses said Ryall should have come clean on Saturday night and told referee Strebre Delovski that the incident

He said it to journo's yesterday, guess they must talk to journos after training.

I wasn't querying when he said it, but when he has waved away a penalty himself

Could you imagine Muscats reaction if he (or anyone else) ever did !

Permalink Permalink

Barbarouses might go looking for contact but what Ryall did was a scum act.

Permalink Permalink

So what happened?

Grumpy old bastard alert

Ryall just ran around the back of Finkler and either fell over or took a dive. However, as soon as he fell over he turned to the referee and demanded a penalty with his hands out stretched. The penalty was immediately given. Ryall then went and slapped and Finkler on the back of his head.

Scum act is too far but it wasn't classy. I think there is a difference between what Ryall did and a player who just looks for contact.

A-League 3 man judiciary panel took less than 10 mins to dismiss disciplinary case against Ryall acc to Fox News.

"At the end of the drive the lawmen arrive...

I'll take my chance because luck is on my side or something...

Her name is Rio, she don't need to understand...

Oh Rio, Rio, hear them shout across the land..."

The video evidence in the link that RR posted shows its a pen.

Could still be a dive, because of the contact you can't say with absolute certainty that it was.

Even if there was contact, Ryall just ran into Finkler. Never a penalty.

So he was appealing for a non-penalty?
