The thing that gets me is that rumors were swirling around weeks before Kosta left that he'd been signed by the Vitory yet he claims that he had no contact with them until after he was terminated by the Nix.

Scores the only goal in the A-League Grand Final to win it 1-0 for Melbourne over the Jets!

And here I was being told Kiwis didn’t contribute to the A-League...

Great work by him! (even if he is a ???)

A decision on Barbarouses and marquee status yet to be confirmed. That decision will be made once the club gets closer to confirming its squad. There might be more light shed on this situation later today with another announcement (not from Sydney).

That's actually quite a good article.

I guess I was so gutted with him leaving us that I forgot how little game time he got for us and how that would have affected his development.

That's actually a fair point - 20 games over 3 years really isn't much is it, especially for someone of his talent.

Yeah, Kosta leaving that time was fair enough, and most thought similar at the time - much the same as Tyler Boyd, who barely got any time either. Rojas was different.

What does that mean in plain English???

Also, if his attitude was bad, do you think Ange and Musc*nt would have given him that much playing time?
All I was saying is that I never really stopped and thought how he would have felt about it all.

And to be frank, we haven't had a great track record of giving youth a chance in previous years. The tide is definitely changing now.

Having no youth teams made it really hard to give Kids the game time they needed to develop back when he was at the club, Kosta went to the Roar cuz he could play in the NYL then.

An interesting article, loving that the raw stats are backing up Kosta's renaissance too. Whole different kettle of fish for Bally though, 5.2 xg across almost a season and a half with one goal to show for it is tough no matter how you look at it.
Anyway, good chance for Kosta to keep the streak going against Perth next game

It shows how much goals can be a confidence game.  It took getting off the mark for them to start flow for Kosta.

Similar last year for Zawada.

With his double last night, Kosta is now tied with Ben Waine on 17 goals as the 10th highest goal scorer for the Nix in the A-League. He is also only the third ever player to score for us in 5 or more seasons, alongside Ifill and Krishna. This season is doing wonders for his legacy here.

He’s also our 3rd ever to score in 5 consecutive games, the others being Zawada and Hemed. No one has ever done 6 on the trot.

Was an interesting stat on the tv last night that his most prolific seasons have always been when he is on his last year on his contract.

Assuming he was offered a 2 Yr contract how much do you think his wage expectations might have grown from say the beginning of the year.

I reckon if he'd had been wanting around the 200k mark as an experienced professional - now, he'd could probably ask for double.... hell his next contract might be worth more than his current one, certainly based on the performances leading into negotiations.

Hard to say. Sure his performances will certainly increase his value, but his age will reduce that as well. Will be interesting to see what the clib do. Fingers crossed they nail Kosta and Zawada for at least the enxt 2 years.

Dont know how much truth kosta was speaking here but last night after the game i was right next to him talking to a few italian blokes.
He said to them that his plan is to stay in Wellington for "a few more years" then move back to melbourne

Sounds like the plan would be to end his playing career here, 33 now so retire at 35? He has said he wants to win the trophy with the Nix, so that would make sense.
