Came on in the 80th minute in a 0-0 draw today. His team are in the middle of a real form slump and are now 4 points behind the league leaders. A few weeks ago they were 4 points ahead themselves with a game in hand.

Apparently started in 3 -1 win today but off injured at half time. Looking at table alaniya are 8 points clear of 3rd place after 35 games. So looks like they have 2nd place all but mathematically locked up and therefore set for promotion to Russian premier league next season.

Just read your signature...you're not the only Phoenix fan in Whangarei. You might possibly be the only person with poor enough taste to support Everton though...

how?

He's in the New Zealand squad, so all you need to do is go to customize rosters => international squads=> New Zealand and then you replace him with some other new zealander, then he will automatically go in to your free agents and then you can sign him in CM.

Kosta Barbarouses watched from the bench as Alaniya Vladikavkaz returned to the top of the Russian first division with a 2-1 away win over previous leaders Mordovia Saransk.

They seem to have finished top of div 1 but there may also be some playoff system to get promotion. Anybody know how it works?

Top two get promoted, no playoffs as far as I'm aware.

The 13th and 14th placed teams in the Russian Premier League will play the two-leg play-off matches against the 4th and 3rd placed teams respectively of the first division.

Nzf update says alaniya will be involved in a top 8 play off in march, meaning Kosta now has 5 months off. He will be looking for a loan stint i reckon, given sporadic appearances last few months.

On the debit side, Kosta Barbarouses, Tommy Smith and Chris Wood the latter duo being key players for the All Whites at the 2010 FIFA World Cup - are all unavailable due to club commitments. Given these absentees, and the fact three overage players can be utilised at London 2012, Emblen was quick to point out that there is extra motivation for his squad, saying: Not only are the boys trying to get the country to the Olympics, they are playing for places knowing players are likely to be coming in if the team is successful in getting to the games."

First appearance in the bench for almost one month. Unused sub in a 2-1 defeat: alaniya still 1st in the standings

Its outdated information. Alania beat third team 2-1 at home. Check out the results here. They are still 1st in the standings but Kosta doesnt play at all.

he needs to get out of there i think, a backward steep it would seem

Maybe he's the attacking player Ricki has been in talks with to sign for the Nix

How come he isn't even on the bench for the majority of this year's games?

You have to wonder whether he is enjoying it over there. Should have stayed at Brisbane, I'm guessing he was on a low salary and he wanted some payoff for his breakout season but can't help thinking he has probably taken a backwards step.

I have wondered this too, but to be fair to him the Russian move may pay off now that his team has been promoted to the top division. Time will tell though.

Rumoured to be heading to Panathanaiakos, which would suit his greek roots.

Their fans are treating him as a new signing so it must be pretty much done
