The New Zealand defender's first start since August and managed 90 minutes with apparent ease. Read the game well with some key interventions.
Seemed like he played pretty well. Disappointing though that Tottenham earned a nil nil draw after thrashing Newcastle last week.

Disappointing result, but can't ask for more than a clean sheet from Ryan. Good stuff

<!--article date end--><!--article content start-->Michael Dawson had words of praise for Ryan Nelsen after his fellow central defender's full debut at Stevenage on Sunday.
Ryan, who joined us on transfer deadline day in January, didn't put a foot wrong as we fought out an FA Cup fifth round stalemate at the Lamex Stadium.
He lined-up in a new three-man central defence alongside Michael and Younes Kaboul as Harry Redknapp employed wing-backs in a 5-3-2 system.
Ryan won every aerial duel and was there when needed when Stevenage threatened in the second half, alert to follow in and clear the rebound after Carlo Cudicini spilled Joel Byrom's shot.
"I thought Ryan was fantastic," said Michael, who captained the side at Stevenage.
"We changed the formation a little, played myself, Younes and Ryan, he played in the middle and he was outstanding.
"He won everything in the air, was strong and played really well. He showed all his experience in what was a real test for us against a big, physical team."
Look out for Michael's full thoughts in Dawson's Diary on Spurs Xtra tomorrow - plus Ryan reflects on his debut here on tottenhamhotspur.com.
We'll also have the post-match views of Michael, Ryan, Louis Saha and Danny Rose on Spurs TV Online.

What I meant was, why did they neglect to mention the goal assist since it's a pro-Nelsen article?

Well done Nellie

Three for me, and two for them.
To be fair though, Spurs to my knowledge have not lost a game he has played in.
Well done Nellie

So any "stats-spotters" able to tell us where this sits in NZ Football, a first of any kind? First opening goal in an FA Cup by an All White capt?
