First game he hasn't played a part in, right? Anyone know why?

The Director of Besiktas FC has confirmed, July 6, to Turkish media that Besiktas has signed Tyler Boyd. The transfer fee is 2.4 million euros and Boyds salary will be 1.2 million euros per year(which is close to around $NZD 2 million per year).

There were earlier reports last night from Boyds Portuguese club that they had turned down a 2 million euro bid from Besiktas and also a bigger offer from a MLS club. But appears that the Besiktas offer won through.

AS far as I can tell this is not yet official. Im not sure Tyler is in signing mode at the moment with the Gold Cup final USA vs Mexico coming up in a few hours.

If its true then way to go Tyler. Kiwi boy comes through the Nix system, works his arse off and is justly rewarded. Besiktas is a great move IMO. They are currently ranked 21st best European club by UEFA. They are also regularly on the podium in the Turkish league and regularly play in either Champions League or Europa League. So Boyd will be playing Europa league this season. Their supporters have been pounding social media for weeks now supporting Boyds signing. I expect he will get a rousing welcome when he arrives in Istanbul.

Good on him also for not going to the MLS just yet. Turkey will be more challenging but will provide more opportunities for growth. The fans over there are crazy too and if he does well he'll become a true idol.

Wow they also signed Adem Ljiaijc from Torino (formerly of Roma). Boyd will have some stiff competition but given his age and how he's performed in the past 2-3 seasons now it's the right time to try and really make it.

Got to play the 2nd half by which stage the Yankees were up 6-0.

Finishes 7-0, with only 2nd half goal a pen to Pulisic.

Up next Canada on Wednesday.

not winning many fans at Besiktas it seems, general consensus is he's well off the required standard to start

He should have stayed at Ankaragücü if it was possible. He was having a good period there.

I can see a scenario coming soon where USA coach Berhalter gets sacked and Boyd is not picked any more by his replacement....

Not playing for his club will surely hurt his chances.

Berhalter seems to be deeply unpopular with most people involved with football in the US - media, fans, major former players etc.

Even having his brother at the US Soccer Federation (he was involved in hiring him) seems unlikely to save him from the ax...

Berhalter being sacked could actually increase his chances of being picked - he's hugely criticised for filling the USA national side with MLS players purely to try and bring credibility to the league, when they're not up to international standard

Tough call to make. Everything was working for him at the time, he was ripping up the league, getting selected by the USNMT...a big offer came in and he took it.

He certainly has more competition there and possibly needs time to adjust to the playing style of a "big club" - but it's hard to begrudge him the move.

Hopefully hard work pays off and he established himself as a regular sub/starting XI.

Outstanding turn and finish to equalise against Braga in the Europa League, but Beşiktaş go down 3-1.  Boyd replaced at 84 minutes.

Plays 2nd half for Team USA in a 4-0 win over Cuba in George Town, Cayman Islands.

I guess due to political reasons the Yankees can't play in the socialist paradiso.

Boyd credited with an assist.

19 yr old Josh Sargent, sometime team mate of Trevor Zwetsloot at Werder Bremen II, with 2 goals.
