not unless his ego has subsided. He always appeared to think he was bigger than us and deserving of more time.

To be fair, he deserved more time than he got. A little like Barbs under Hay.

Don't mind players with ego's if they can perform.

I presume you meant Barba under Ricky? And yes concur.

The whole Academy pipeline setup, now means young players are so so much better prepared for Nix senior football. Very different to days of young Rojas's, Barba's & Boyd's. Credit to the club.

Sure Boyd's minutes were reduced cos we didnt have the setup to get him up to speed. But I dont think he used the time he had well, and his performances didnt really wow me.

Do love a win in Adelaide, though. We’ll always have that Tyler.

Hard to wow from the pine or when given 5 - 10 minutes a game. Never got a good run like Waine did etc to show his worth.

If he wanted to come back to NZ we would be silly not to say yes.

I'd say zero chance, he'd ever come back to the Niz. Zero.

His parents moved from NZ to US (or vice versa) when he was a kid? They are back stateside?

He ain't afraid of a peripatetic lifestyle, and bouncing around various Turkish/Euro clubs - never giving up on the Euro dream. Plus he has his Dios to guide him in need.

He's 26, he'll hang around Turkey/EU for a few years yet. Then if that's going nowhere, sign in the MLS to at least always keep himself on the USNMT radar. Plus it'll be a new challenge. They have a home WC 2026. That would be a massive target, no matter how slim his chances.

Boyd a 63rd min sub (score 4-1) as Rizespor (18th) go on a scoring rampage at another side doomed for relegation in Göztepe (19th). Rizespor winning 7-1.
https://us.soccerway.com/matches/2022/05/01/turkey/super-lig/goztepe-as-izmir/caykur-rizespor/3557245/

Despite the win Rizespor (33 pts, -26 GD ) need a major miracle to avoid the drop. Need to win their 3 remaining games, need Gaziantep FK (16th, 42 pts, -7 GD) to lose their 3 remaining games, and Rizespor would also need a 20 goal positive change in their GD compared to Gaziantep FK

Ain't happening so presumably Boyd will be looking for a new club for next season (he's already played for 4 different clubs in Turkey, over just 3 seasons). I reckon he may consider a move to the MLS at age 27.

Come back here... I think he has fallen well down the pecking order that getting a great dig might be a push for him.

If he can't get a good new Turkish/Euro gig, he'll try the MLS.

That will keep him at least on the USMNT radar, with a home World Cup in 2026. Still only 27. Zero chance the Nix.

Not in match day squad as relegated play their last game of the season in the Süper Lig.

I actually see he's at Rizespor on loan from Besiktas. He also still has a year to run on his contract with Besiktas, so that will make it problematic him signing elsewhere.

So another loan deal to another mid-lower table Süper Lig club could be likely, for another season to run down his contract at Besiktas. Messy

Looks like he's made some bad career decisions - both club & international - last few years. Though I guess when a big club like Besiktas make an offer, it's very tempting.

Was in a couple of match day squads for Besiktas (3rd in Turkish Super Lig) in August but not sighted since.

Last game (Aug 15th) he was a HT sub with Besiktas 3-1 up, but game finished 3-3. Though Besiktas were down to ten men from 37 mins. Looks like they are not involved in Europe at all this season.

Sounded like he turned down a move in August. https://www.90min.com/tr/posts/besiktas-ta-tyler-boyd-transfere-kapilari-kapatti-01gbhs7ns28z

So I guess he is just sitting outside the season again. He really needs to move to the MLS & try to rescue his career.

As above no playing action, since Aug 15th when he was subbed on at HT with Besiktas 3-1 up, but the game finished 3-3.

Last year of his contract with Besiktas (currently 4th), which overall has been a bit of a flop (loaned elsewhere mostly). So likely the contract will just run down, and he'll move somewhere as a free agent. The MLS would make some sense. Looks well out of USNMT contention at the moment

According to American Soccer Now, Boyd has options with Major League Soccer clubs, Liga MX (Mexico) and in Turkey.

“His preference is likely to play in the United States and with his background and experience, he should be able to find a deal,” the ASN site says.

Would be cool to see him linking up with Calvin Harris at Colorado Rapids (he just moved there from Cincinnati). A couple of ex-Nix almost Kiwis on either wing.

The Galaxy got one back in the 56th minute through Tyler Boyd – who is currently in the process of signing with LA. Rodriguez lofted a pass into the box, which Boyd got a touch for his first Galaxy goal.

Although he’s yet to be officially signed by the Galaxy, the 28-year-old Boyd played and scored for the Galaxy during the match. The former USMNT international played in Turkey before getting released from his contract in November.

“Tyler is in process to joining us," explained Vanney. "It's just been taking a little while to get the ITC clearance and all of that stuff worked out. So he's currently training as of yesterday on a waiver.

"While that’s taking place, he can't just be sitting on the sideline or training one-on-one because it's been a few months since he's been inside of a collective team environment, Vanney added.

Boyd entered the game in the 46th minute and looked lively on the left wing. His speed on the ball and smart runs to stretch out the backline is something the Galaxy is lacking from their current core of wide players.

“I thought his activity level was great. I think he took that finish very well,” said Vanney about Boyd. “He showed some dynamic running behind the line which is something that this group needs. He doesn't really have his legs under him completely yet so whatever he was able to do in 25 to 45 minutes was good for him.”

“In terms of [being a] starter, we have to see as the team keeps shaping up ... who's out there and what we continue to add and where we ended up. We still have a few pieces that we're working on and all things will settle in as we go and guys will be competing,” Vanney observed. Boyd can play on either side of the field, but with Vanney preferring to play with inverted winger, he’ll likely feature predominantly on the left.

This wouldn't surprise me with problems others have had with Turkish clubs in the past.

Got his first MLS mins on the weekend, Galaxy losing 3-1 at Dallas. Boyd subbed on at 71 mins (3-1).

I thought his right peg was his weaker foot.

That was some strike from distance!! I hope things work out for him.

He's right footed, took pens and free kicks with his right.

Geez maybe he’s okay after all. Couple of good goals there. Would really add some balance and ballast to the AWs! Ships and sailed.
That second goal the better of the two imo.

Galaxy were all over RSL for the first 20 minutes and last 10 or so  but RSL turned the game with their first goal against the run of play.  Boyd had several good moments.  Playing alongside some great players -  Martín Cáceres, Riqui Puig, Douglas Costa, Chicharito...
You know we belong together...

My first thought was the level looks decent. My second thought was yikes, no VAR. and the crowd looks a bit patchy.
From a skim through it seems like RSL controlled possession and Boyd has hardly got a touch.

The US Open Cup ain't taken that seriously by the clubs or fans. Better to watch a MLS game.
