Jee, that no-show (comment #2) comment is a grumpy one. I've left a thorough debunking of no-show's illogical ramblings. It should be comment #31 or somewhere around there. .. . .

I am currently writing 2 songs to be released (double A side) at some stage between qualifying and going to the world cup.  Does anyone have Ray Woolf's number.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Thommo on lead vocals....Bucks on back-up.

Thommo's performance on the last podcast has ruled him out of the running.  Lead vocals are currently a 3 horse race between Bucks, Bic Runga or Dave Dobyn.

At the moment Bucks is the favourite as he is cheaper which means more profits for me.

You're thinking short term there Frankie!

Sam Buckle, nice, well-spoken bloke that he is, doesn't have the appeal to middle New Zealand.

Am in the same boat, sort of more follow a few teams overseas. Reading and Liverpool are the ones I more regulary keep tabs on, though I do like to keep an eye on the Kiwis around the world. But I'm hardly depressed about Liverpool being 5 losses out of 6 and Reading being in/near relegation. Nor was I really happy about Liverpool beating the Mancs.

Die hard Phoenix fan, but a half hearted overseas follower.

Man, they're nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Partick Thistle's current away kit :

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Except of course for the nix AWs for the following Saturday.
Football is a Kiwi Sport Now - http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/blogs/hand-of-god/3044960/Football-is-a-Kiwi-sport-now
Without knowing full NZ history, the below comment was interesting. If you posted that in an Australian Football Forum (say The World Game Forum), you'd get a 50 page thread.

"Others wont care and some may even feel I am slighting expats or suggesting they are not, in some way, sufficiently "Kiwi". I dont mean to. Expats and expat communities were for many years the lifeblood and driving force of football in New Zealand. And I dont just mean British expats, but Greek, Italian, Hungarian, Croatian to name just some. They established local clubs, they ran local clubs, they coached, they funded, they played and, in the case of the 82 All White expat contingent, they inspired. They have contributed a huge amount to the game in this country. They still do.

But for the game to truly flourish in New Zealand, it needed to break free of the limitations of its expat history. The 82 All Whites contributed to that "breaking free" more than any others."

Yes, i figure.

Quite different over there though i think. Its nowhere near as ethnically parochial and we have had very little of the kind of angst and difficult rivalries you have experienced in domestic australian football (if thats what you're getting at). The expats did the pioneering work, laid the foundation. The changing of the All White guard reflects the growth and evolution of the game and a generational shift.

Also probably related to numbers  - we might be just as diverse as Oz but no ethnic group has a huge presence.

Although I'd prefer to think that like all things, our expats are a cut above Oz's expats!

Same here about the evolution, I agree both NZ and Australia have evolved as per the last bit of your comment above. Obviously the initial migrants have now had kids (and grandkids) raised in Oz and NZ so the shift towards 'local' matters is more paramount now.

But yeah, I was also referring to the "difficult rivalries" in the game here as you (well) put it.

That's the best I can comment give I am at work (3pm Melbourne time as I write this). Mybe after hours I can edit this.
