A regular Feverite and one of my teammates (in Futsal, Masters, Lunchtime footy and Sunday League) and his delightful Mrs. have sloped off to Europe for 4 weeks carefully timed to catch the Lords test.

Lucky, lucky, lucky bastards.

Bit scary though when the bottom half of the order has more test 100s than the top half.

We do however have the best number 8 - in Dan Vettori!!!
Really looking forward to the start tonite!

I have it on good authority that he's now scored a test run in front of square...so he's improving.

If only he could do so without a leading edge lol

As long as he takes the wickets his batting is not a concern.

I think he's the only professional cricketer in the world who knocks in the edges rather then the middle when he gets a new bat.

That 12 not out vs Bangladesh was pure class. Y dont we just reverse the batting order? Gotta love the 3 metre slope on the hallowed turf at Lord's.

whats the odds that fairly soon there will be calls for McCullum even further up the order and then he will be selected as a batsman only and another keeper will come in...

sound familiar?

ok enough snarky from me....

Redmond form seems hopeful...

Can't see it, McCullum would still be the best keeper in the country at the moment.

Tim Southee, who made his debut at Napier in March, scored more runs in a single innings (77) than his probable new-ball partner, Chris Martin, has managed in 40 Tests (74 runs at 2.55)

I am unemployed, and ready to settle down for a good old fashioned day of test cricket on the couch, and it is f**king raining.

This would never happen if the game was being played oop north (it is blue skies and sunny in the Yorkshire Riveria).

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

I must have cultural cringe, because as an Englishman I put it second only to Morris Dancers as the most ghastly thing on the planet

McCullum immediately slumped in disappointment after that clipped the stumps, he has fallen in the 90s for the second time at Lord's - he made 96 in 2004 at the same venue 50.1 Panesar to McCullum, OUT, oh, he's missed the century! A well-flighted ball from Panesar, on middle stump and McCullum misjudges the drive, it goes off his pad onto the stumps BB McCullum b Panesar 97 (173m 97b 13x4 2x6) SR: 100.00 Panesar around the wicket

Yeah, all the focus on the big man, just forgot about Anderson who hurt us in Napier! Oh well on a day when bowling was the easiest going at 3+ isn't too bad plus our allrounders are pretty good.

Good recovery from 100-5, hopefully get 350 minimum. I was surprised how much more those Duke balls swing. They swing like 2-piece balls! And they are pretty dark balls as well.

Batting conditions looked pretty tough, it was dark, ball swinging round heaps, moving off the deck. encouraging for our bowlers. Looking forward to seeing Southee bowl.

Oram needs to step up with his batting this tour, while his bowling was good back here in March, his batting form was crap.

yea not a bad performance in the end. real tough batting conditions and a poor start so a decent position we ended up in. get to 300 and we are well in the game.
listening on the radio last nite, what a combination, geoff boycott and henry blofeld "my dear old thing" they were hard to listen to

ooops knew it was one or the other, but still given the current situation, if it dawns fine today, Dan and Jake could well bat us through to 300 or so....that would be a goodish start!

haha Boycott is a laugh. a lot of ppl hate him but I actually don't mind him as a commentator as he's pretty straight up and quite funny sometimes, not one to beat around the bush.

Looking forward to day 2, fingers crossed we get underway on time!

Happy with that start all we need know is a 100 from 2 of our best batsman Oram and Vettori and we will be sorted.

agree Bopman, Blofeld has an accent and attitude that makes me want to throw up

- but Sir Geoffrey - well as a yorkshireman, i have to ignore his failings as a 'team player' and a human and just remember that he knew how to blunt an attack (and, to be fair, kill of a few hundred thousand spectators in the process)

what the hell was Atherton up to with his snide attack on Vettori in the Times? He seems a littlew mifed that the 'colonial upstarts' aren't bowing and scraping like they used to - what a w**ker

Oram is very due with the bat...hasn't put his hand up at all as his experience or reputation would suggest of late...and considering the lack of experience we have in the team that means double from the senior players...
