Anyone watching the draft?

Goodell getting boo'd each time he comes out on stage .

Surprisingly enough, Carolina take Newton at 1. I have my doubts about him - Vince Youngish?

Yeah, think it's a risk taking him, but they had little other options I guess.

Know they were desperately trying to trade away the top pick initially, but no-one was interested.

Can they make trades while the lock out is on (or in limbo with the appeal) or is it a straight up and down draft with no trades?

Can definitely understand them wanting to trade it away, this draft certainly seems (at least to a pretty uneducated observer) to be somewhat weaker at the top end than last years.

Especially true at QB, which is the big need for the Panthers, hence why they took Newton even though they don't exactly think he's a long-term solution.

Newton scouts bio, reads quite similar to previous African-American quarterbacks. Sometimes I think it is lazy scouting when I hear amazing athlete, strong arm, great size, off-field issues.

Although he has had even for suspicions around his character, ego and leadership abilities.

Bump, Cam Newton has been amazing. Proving doubters wrong so far. Who's been following?

Detroit Lions are 5-0!

Not going well for you is it?

Was watching the Saints game this morning, and realised that terrible officiating isn't merely the domain of A-league refs. There were a bunch of terrible calls throughout the game, but the defensive PI on Torrence was ridiculous. The ref explained the call as 'defensive back contacted the receiver without making a play for the ball' and then they show the replay and it's the DB that tipped the ball away from the receiver. So much for not making a play on the ball. Of course, it's not challengable so TB got a TD out of it in the end. Luckily we already had a healthy lead by then.

Pats seem to be making a comeback.

Anyone seen the ESPN 30 for 30 doco on Marcus Dupree?

Or alternatively is anyone familiar with him?

Real interesting story about a guy who was arguably the most talented American footballer ever but never made it as big as he should have.

The 30 for 30 is called "The best that never was".

I thoroughly recommend it.

Does anyone know of any pubs in the thriving Metropolis of Blenheim that would show NFL?

Keen to watch this afternoons game.

Yeah, the 30 for 30 series is quality, really enjoy it.

Another good one is on Len Bias, think it's called 'Without Bias'.

Back on topic, the Giants are giving the Pack a bit of a game. Still think the Pack will probably pull it off, but I'll laugh so hard if they don't.

I really wish i had more time to watch NFL and generally get absorbed in it. It's such an amazing sport to watch. I've seen the most this season than any other, which has been about 1 game a week as well as some of the college stuff which is pretty cool . I love all the stats that come with it too.

I see GB got home in the end. Think they will go unbeaten?
05 Dec 02:07 · edited 09 Sep 04:59
I don't think they will. I reckon they blow one late in the regular season. Though with QB's getting injured everywhere they may win with Matt Flynn at QB
05 Dec 05:54 · edited 09 Sep 04:59
Think if they really want to go for 16-0, they should get there. If Rodgers goes down, that would obviously change the situation a bit, but that's obviously just a hypothetical. If they decide to rest the starters heading into the last game or two after they lock in the top seed, then a loss or two is likely. Will be interesting to see what they decide there.

I think their game at KC could be a bit of trap game to be honest, for some reason I think this would be a much tougher game for them than it looks on paper.

They say wise people learn from other people's mistakes.

Smart people learn from their own mistakes.

And then some people just never learn. They are called the Detroit Lions.

My Saints today were far from perfect, but didn't really need to be with the Lions doing their utmost to beat themselves.

"And then some people just never learn. They are called the Detroit Lions."

So true. Suh being an idiot doesn't help either.

I think the Pack will continue to have closer game with the colder weather, but I can't see them losing as of yet.
05 Dec 06:35 · edited 09 Sep 04:59
If they do, it will be to someone like the Saints, or the Pats, in a blowout. Because the GB D isn't great. As a Ravens fan, I wouldn't pick us to beat them, offense probably not good enough

Should at least go regular season undefeated, although the Bears always give them trouble
05 Dec 06:45 · edited 09 Sep 04:59
With no Cutler and Forte I am doubtful. I do not trust Hanie and Barber :)
05 Dec 06:45 · edited 09 Sep 04:59
That's a good point
05 Dec 06:53 · edited 09 Sep 04:59
There's some talk that the Bears are thinking of getting McNabb in. Don't think it would be a bad move, haven't seen Hanie play but his stats in the last two games look terrible.

05 Dec 06:55 · edited 09 Sep 04:59
That could certaibly be interesting. They have no hope of winning the division now so might as well go all out for the wildcard spot

Well. Sometimes I even scare myself.

there are 4 games on at the moment but I cannot see any of them on TV - do they not show them, or am I just a spaz at using a remote control (or both)?

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

Are you in NZ? If you are, then they're not TV, we only get the night games on TV here.

If you still in UK, then there should be a game on SS 2 or 3.

You're out of luck unless you want to have breakfast at 2.30pm, San Diego v. Baltimore game will be on ESPN then.

I knew they wouldn't go unbeaten, but picked GB because I thought Palko was playing......

Though, losing a game probably helps their Super Bowl chances. I'm looking for a NO v GB playoff game which ends 52-49

Steelers looking very poor, looks like Tebow mania goes on for one more week.

Watching big ben is like watching Tebow for the first 55 minutes of a normal gam. Terrible
