Emirates must have spent a fair bit to be the main sponsor. Anyone know what the deal was worth?

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

We weren't prepared for the flood tide.  Thoughts?

Sack Ricki!

Typical Brown - invisible as usual and Lochhead out of position for the upwind leg.

Wouldn't have happened if they had used Clapham, Kosta and Marco.

And clearly above all else, Paston did not organise the defence of the lead well enough

Imagine if Ricki was skipper - "I think we did really well considering it was very wet and windy out there. I think we deserved to win. I'm very happy with how things went."

Other low-income laborers agreed. "You bet it was an important goddamn race," said marina worker Sam Tosch, who, along with his brother-in-law Bud, has a little boat he sometimes takes out fishing a bit, here and there, if he can get a weekend off, but, you know, nothing like this. "Believe me, these fellas, they take their boating real serious. I remember this one time, I was scraping barnacles off this one rich guy's hull, and he starts screaming at me, 'Be careful, you idiot! Don't you know that boat cost more than you'll earn in your whole life?' So, you can see how important it all is."

If the nation can't learn to hyper foil up-wind, long-term, we're biologically screwed.

That guy totally deserves to become a meme. He already looks kind of photoshopped into that photo anyway.

I just heard Martin Tasker say "this is the biggest event in New Zealand history"...

Words fail me...again

I would have thought Martin Tasker tapping the Israeli journo was a bigger event. I wonder what Indian bookmakers were offering for the result?

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

From Stuff the comments section it brought a tear to my eye...

Comment From Sandy:

"Very proud of all our sports people. We don't have billions to throw at our sports people and yet here we are. Racing in the most prestigious yachting race in the world. Not bad for a country with no money. Thanks Emirates & all the other sponsors for believing in such a small little country".

You can bet your bollocks to a barn dance that come Sunday, if the ABs lose, people wont be saying

Very proud of all our sports people. We don't have billions to throw at our sports people and yet here we are. Competing in the most prestigious rugby tournamen in the world. Not bad for a country with no money. Thanks AIG and ADIDAS & all the other sponsors for believing in such a small  little country

The end with this madness I tell you!

Just heard that the entire crew of Emirates Team New Zealand were being chased by horny women in San Fransisco because of their ability to go out hard early and still come second!!!

I think he has a few friends who own bars around the place and a lot of the time he watches sport out at bars so is just putting himself in their shoes. A bit weird still though, of all things to consider.

Fuck this stupid game

I think you've developed a form of Stockholm syndrome Banzai - you've invested so much in opposing it that now, secretly, you've developed some kind of affection for sailing.  I think you're in the top 10% for knowledge on the americas cup
