I'm a huge fan of Franklin, but more so at test level as a 4th seamer and no. 6/7. As a ODI player there is no point picking him and batting him at 8. He will never be an economical one day bowler as he struggles to swing the white ball and puts it on a hittable length.

I hope Ingram still gets a run in the test - he won't have to go trying to push the run rate, so won't have to try and create runs when the ball isn't in his (limited) scoring zone. First class level is where he has amassed the majority of his runs for the last few seasons.

And now Franklin just got bowled by a wide. We seem to be trying desperately hard to manufacture soft ways to get out.

If Tuffey is going to hit like this we need to take the power play now, or he will hole out. (Not criticising him, as it is fantastic hitting and we have nothing to lose!)

That Ponting Decision = the match decided. We didn't bat 50 overs which is why we lost. Do I go on Saturday, most likely no because of the nix timings.

yeh. did swear a bit at the point.

though we didn't deserve really to have a shot at the match. The D/L put us in with a shot we didn't really have IMO.

I honestly think this is not that good of an Australian side, we have made them look better than they are. A couple of instances have shown they don't really like it when the pressure goes on but then because of our own stupidity we let the foot off the gas. Also frustrating are the injuries, in a perfect world our best ODI team at current is:

McCullum
Ryder
Guptill
Taylor
Elliot
Styris/Hopkins
Oram
Vettori
Mills
Bond
Southee/McKay

Hopefully in the build up to the World Cup we can see that side on the park and everyone firing because that is a very good side.

Agree, in fact if'd only had enough common sense to bat 50 overs in the last two games we would have got scores of 280+ (perhaps even 300+) and would have really had them in a bind.

But no, it's a crime for a NZ batsman to score more than 70 in an ODI. You get lynched on the street the next day if you do that.
