It's more the feat of being able to play aggressive enough to score at such a high strike rate for such a long time without getting out is incredibly difficult.
Has really only been done by one or two players in any form of international cricket, namely Nathan Astle.Mr_Incredible2009-12-18 14:20:11

Love it - When I saw Ponting not enforce the follow on I said the Aussies would regret it. They are a bit in the pooh at the moment.
Being made to follow on is such a psychological blow, I can't believe it is not enforced more.

Looking forward to see how Lou Vincent goes now he's back and keen to give it a shot again. Was a bit gutted when he left NZC.
The Wacca test is shaping up to be a goody. That is of course if the Windies can show some heart and bat out today at least. I love seeing Aussie lose, there is nothing like it.
I. Hate. Shane. Watson.

Has there ever been a more hateable group of people ever assembled than this Australian cricket team? Good god, Shane Watson, Doug Bollinger and Brad Haddin - get a decent test record before you start having a go! w**kerS

Not sure, any team that makes train noises at Chris Cairns from the slips cordon has gotta take the cake for me. This team does run it close though.

Cairns came out and said that never happened, the story goes that Healy and Warne stood behind Cairns while he was batting and made choo choo noises (Cairnsys sister died in a train crash in the early 90s)

My understanding is that it was Mark Waugh and others in the slips from that era with Waugh being the instigator. Have heard it from a few sauces that would be in the know aswell, but if Cairns has denied it, it may well just be an urban myth.

31 I think. Plenty of time. Do any of our players get to go to the IPL this season? I know the Aus tour takes place during it but for how long? If they do get to play I hope Bond gets a huge amount of $$$.wellyphoenixfan2009-12-22 16:32:21

I sort of understand the decision but it does f**k me off.
I mean seriously, you would rather play for some team which is made up purely for the purpose of making money instead for your national team against your biggest rivals?

Surely no one, not even Aussie cricketers, would do that....surely?

They shortened the Aussie test series because the Aussie players association has a clause in its collective that says there must be 10 days between 2nd and 3rd test on any given tour.
Put together our weather at that time of the year and the IPL and NZC said well stuff it. That is my understanding anyway

This.
Money talks. And the IPL is where the money is in cricket at the moment. As unfortunate as that is.
Three for me, and two for them.

Wrap of the domestic games:
Wellington were hopeless, bowled out for 149 chasing 230. But the other game was quite interesting... Northern hit 300. Kane Williamson getting 107 not out. And then CD chased it down, Graham Napier (why didn't Wellington hold onto him...) cracked 73 off 27 balls. Very impressive. CD and Auckland getting wins.
One day points table:
| Place | Team | Played | Won | Lost | No-Result | Abandoned | Bonus Points | Total Points | Net Run Rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Auckland Aces | 4 | 3 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 13 | 0.670 |
| 2 | Canterbury Wizards | 3 | 2 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 9 | 1.113 |
| 3 | Central Stags | 4 | 2 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 8 | -0.106 |
| 4 | Northern Knights | 4 | 2 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 8 | -0.218 |
| 5 | Otago Volts | 3 | 1 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 4 | -0.480 |
| 6 | Wellington Firebirds | 4 | 1 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 4 | -1.166 |
