Stuff reporting that "Vettori quits NZ".

18 years playing for the national team, nothing but loyal and decides to take another big step in coaching and they use that term. Idiots.

Also, it was reported a couple of weeks ago. It's not even "news".

Stuff is getting so, so bad. It's becoming a click bait site with rubbish like  "She was unhappy at work, what she did next will amaze you..."

"10 Reasons the Bachelor is better then X-Factor", "15 photos of cats who think they are people".

Pisses me off. It'd be nice to have a proper news website in New Zealand.

Welcome to NZ where absolute bullshark can and usually is, the lead item on the 6pm news. People we say we have problems in this country. When you read our news, we have no real issues at all of any consequence.
What flabbergasts me is that still one of the major news stories is "Self-entitled parents sue school for daring to instil consequences of actions in students"

Kinda reminds me of give me my ball back, you can't play. The School was/were correct, the parents were wrong. If the police and Airport Security had gone through due process instead of issuing a warning, would the parents still have spent $20k on getting a High Court order?

You shouldn't lose a review on an umpires call. Flawed part of the current DRS in my opinion.

Three for me, and two for them.

possibly. though you do get two and you already know what the umpire thinks. Amazingly good call, by about a mm and a half.

I disagree, the DRS is there to correct poor decisions.  Shouldn't waste it on tight calls.  You could review nearly every LBW if you could get a free one on the umpires call.

Wow, was that expecting see a century opening stand when I looked at the scorecard this morning. And good is Williamson? 6 hundreds and 8 fifties in his last 15 tests at an average of 79.

Yeah it's BS. I think every international series should consist of 3 games in each format. The stupid Big 3 are ruining the game. And they're not even that good - we're ranked higher than England and India

Yep REALLY want Kane to be the first kiwi to score 10000 test runs but it's going to be extremely difficult with stupid 2 test series.

200 runs a match for 50 tests would do it ;)

Happy to wake up to this score as an England fan. Think it would already have to be one of the highest ever 4th innings chases at Lords for NZ to win. Would love to see us declare over night or maybe add another quick 50 runs in the first hour in the morning then go for the win. Think this will show the difference between the captains though. Would expect McCullum to probably do one of those 2 things, but Cook is more likely to bat out the first session to make sure there is no chance at all of losing, but then not leave enough time to get 10 wickets.

Exactly.

Despite England's batting, I had a cracking day at Lord's yesterday. Fantastic ground.

England Cricket Board appoint Madcap Boffin and Inventor Trevor Bayliss as the New Head Coach

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cricket/internati...

I'm quite heartened by this unusual move. England were rubbish at the recent world cup and I'm blown away the ECB are making such a bold, "outside the box" decision. I wonder if he will invent a wicket force field? Or  giant extending hands for the fielders?

Apparently the 5th highest total number of runs in a match with 40 wickets taken. Can't seem to find how many teams have scored 500 in the first innings and lost but can't be many.

Watling and Anderson aside that was a dreadful effort to try save a test. Still trying to get my head around what some of them were thinking with their shot selection.

Three for me, and two for them.

I don't think they should kick themselves too hard for this loss. They will have to do more homework on Cook and Stokes though.

The only thing that really irritates me, that I thought they had stopped doing (and they did stop doing during the WC) was talking about what they were going to do before they did it. Guptills words to the effect of "We intend to bat once and bat them out of the game and press on for the win" Just don't talk - do it cause otherwise you look like a silly prick and made to eat your words. That's what put me off this team in the first place along with the captaincy fiasco so don't go back down that road again please.

Anderson and Watling might be ruled out of the second test which causes some headaches. Mainly because we don't have another batting all rounder there. Almost have to bring in Rutherford for Watling, Latham (hard on him tho) wicket keeping with Bracewell or Wagner in for Anderson. Maybe more likely to straight swap Ronchi for Watling though.

Fuck this stupid game

If Watling is out, the decision is relatively easy for me.  Ronchi comes in as a straight swap.  You need a 'real' wicket keeper in test matches, where a half chance missed or taken can make a huge difference, and Latham isn't there yet, plus if we have decided that Latham and Guptill are to be our openers, I don't think it makes sense to bring Rutherford in to open and shunt Latham down to 6/7.

If Anderson is out, things get tricky - it stuffs the balance completely.  I think Elliott is in the UK, I would be tempted to call him in to bat 6, with him and Williamson sharing 5th bowler duties.  Failing that, I guess you bring in Wagner or Bracewell, but that makes for a very long tail, and I really don't think we need 4 specialist seamers and a spinner.

Ronchi is likely to come in for Anderson and will keep.

Leaves us a bowler down which is a worry when you look at the options after the 4 front line bowlers need a rest and would be tempted to bring Wagner in instead.

and Watling play as a batsman? I thought Watling is out too so will be replaced by Ronchi. That's the easy part. Anderson not so. We don't have another batting all rounder
