Another cracking performance yesterday. Bizarrely, I'm now starting to wonder whether our build-up to the CWC has been too easy. But maybe I'm just a typical Black Caps fan for whom every silver lining has a cloud.
I think it would have been good to play in Australian conditions at some point recently, and against one of Aussie, SA, or England to get some exposure to decent seam/swing bowling in a game environment.
I would say that NZ conditions these days are very similar to Australia with Napier and Eden Park being hard and fast and then Hamilton/Dunedin offering slower conditions with a bit of movement.
Our own net time vs Adam Milne (and assume that Matt Henry may still train with them?) will help with facing the pace and then one of the top new ball pairs in the world with Southee and Boult going through their paces at the batsmen as well.
In recent times, due to amount of T20 played against varied competition, we've become accustom to pace and swing and struggled more against spin the and dibbly-dobbler bowlers which we have now addressed.
We are as prepared as any team in this competition and comparatively, Aussie and RSA have recently faced some pretty poor England, India and West Indies sides so their prep is no better than ours.
"...sure beats doin' stuff."
