The camera work for the world cup so far has been pretty average. I'm liking the on screen graphics etc but one graphic I'd like to see would be a small screen to the bottom/side that shows the batsmen running between the wickets. Whe the ball is hit into the field the camera follows it and you can't see what the batsmen are doing. When there's a runout or a close one you never know it's on until it's pretty much happened. Might be quite difficult for the broadcasters I guess but I think there's room to make the experience a bit better on TV

Taylor robbed of 100 for England. Should've been dead ball as soon as umpire gave the LBW as out, so not sure why they went upstairs for the run out.

Black Caps convincing winners.  The game against Australia on Feb 28  will most likely see where we're at after more "practice" games against Scotland & England.........

That 1999 semi final was one of the best.  It should have been the final instead the final was a bag a shark.  Also remember that heart breaking moment at the end...

Betting cheats escorted from the Cricket World Cup opening match have been trespassed from all future events this season.

Stuff.co.nz witnessed a group of men believed to be 'courtsiders' led from the New Zealand v Sri Lanka match by police at Hagley Oval in Christchurch yesterday.

Courtsiding refers to a spectator at a sporting event sending immediate information on scores and activities in a game before it is broadcast a short time later.

Speaking to media from Police national headquarters in Wellington today, superintendent Sandy Manderson said the "several" alleged courtsiders caught were residing in New Zealand and also visiting from overseas.

Manderson said police trained in spotting courtsiders, as well as members of the public, had identified the men, who she said were acting individually.

Whilst not illegal in New Zealand, courtsiding is in breach of the terms of entry to matches at the Cricket World Cup.

The men had been trespassed from Hagley Park as well as other ICC venues around New Zealand, Manderson said.

She said she presumed the men had tickets to other matches.

"If they did intend to go, they won't be going now. If they do, they'll be arrested and taken off site."

Police were not "necessarily" monitoring match-goers' phone calls, but were keeping an eye on social media, she said.

That was a shocker. Incomprehensible to me that the batsman didn't get the benefit of the doubt. Not the first highly dubious decision based on snicko recently either. Ronchi was given out in similar circumstances in one of the pre-Cup games.

Without hotspot for corroboration it's a pretty unreliable bit of 'technology' imo.

In 4 game so far, 4 scores of over 300 and the teams batting first have won.    Wonder if Ireland will get up over the windies.

Should be playing tests over Bangladesh who are fudgeing shark and haven't improved in 15 years. Ireland have beaten 4 test teams at the last 3 World Cups now, Bangladesh only had to beat 1.

Been saying they should be included since their performance in the last world cup.  It's the only next step for them.  Won't happen though.  I think India/ICC would be happy if there was only the 4 Sub Continent sides, Australia and England.

West Indian cricket really isn't what it used to be.  Makes me a bit sad.  Is anyone going to see Fire in Babylon in Civic Square this Saturday night?

https://www.eventfinder.co.nz/2015/cadbury-films-by-starlight-fire-in-babylon-pg/wellington

Was thinking the same thing myself while the highlights were on tonight. I remember going to the Basin in '87(?) to see that great Windies team. They were so swaggeringly confident and brilliant. We did well to draw the test series but what an excruciating experience watching us chase about 35 to win the third test and losing six wickets in the process. Their fast bowlers were like demons from hell that day.

Fire in Babylon is a good film. Even my wife who hates cricket really enjoyed it!

Heads up, I may have a ticket available for the NZ-England match on Friday, seated in the England supporters zone. My partner had surgery last week so bit too soon for her to be able to sit there comfortably for all those hours. It's been offered to my brother first but probably too late notice for him to be able to get a day off and come down from Auckland. Will know by tomorrow and would only want face value ($40) for it.

It's nothing more than a blip on an upwards rise. Just the shake up they need...they've been so clinical in all games until now so just a reminder that they don't need to force anything and score at 7 an over the whole time.
