face it guys we suck at test cricket, we will be the new Zimbabwe and only ever get one test a year against any decent opposition and that will be an embarrassment.

Queenslander 3x a year.

Is John Wright a scary man? We need a coach who the players are afraid to piss off. Like a Wayne Bennett or Sir Alex. Some of the shots our lads were playing were just atrocious. There seems to be no repercussions to stupidity. Out lack of depth probably plays into this in that some of the lads know its highly unlikely they will get dropped no matter how poorly the play.

Lets just disguise Simon Katich as some random player we have unearthed.

f**k off, if we hadn't been so sh*te, I wouldn't have to put up with Cricket headlines & "..5 star Pattinson.." being repeated every 5 mins on Fox Sports News & every other god damned channel here for that matter.

When it should be all about our glorious win over the Roar yesterday.

It's a f**kin tough life being a black caps fan. I still firmly believe our top five are the most talented we've had for some time which is quite frightening after their latest performances. Fingers crossed Hobart suits us better.

Australia's innings is pretty much what i feel we should be capable of most times we bat. Built around a decent hundred and two scores of 80ish.

Its because we get so little test cricket, even getting thrashed is something we look forward to seeing.

Was going to go with always/always but they do pull off the odd big result in the shorter form.

Always disappointed by our test performances.

Averages for our senior batsmen v Aus in tests:

Baz 27.16
Ryder 18.66
Taylor 38.00
Guptill 20.50
Dan 27.84

So, add Kane and Brownlie to that, maybe 50 from the tail, we should be getting around 260.  So demands of a big total are unrealistic, from a statistical viewpoint

Yeah that's why I didn't add his real figures, would have skewed the no's completely from one test :)
Since we have shown no ability to bat time, and get out slogging anyway after trying to bat time, I would basically tell half the team (Rosco, Jesse, Baz, Guptill) to pretend it is a one-dayer, while getting those who can bat time (Kane, Brownlie, Dan) to stick around. More likely to end in runs

I'm constantly frustrated by the stupidity of our batsmen. We don't lack talent, but we always just have batsmen throwing wickets away with retarded shot selection. Only Mark Richardson springs to mind as a specialist batsmen who actually valued his wicket in the last decade, although maybe Brownlie might be one for the future. I honeslty think the Black Caps need a sports psychologist or a hypnotherapist or something to sort out their mental issues. Taylor, McCullum, Ryder, could all be world class if they just stopped doing stupid s**t! Guptill and Williamson don't lack technique either... I just get so f**king annoyed watching those guys get out playing shots that didn't need to be played i want to throw things at my tv...

and yeah, if they are gonna get out in 25 balls they may as well do it with a strike rate of 150 instead of 50

I think Ryder has the potential to be one of our most under-achieved players from this era. So much talent and expectation, I just wonder if his attitude will ever change enough to become the test cricketer he has the potential to be.

even if you use the full averages we would only be getting 300-350 max.

the fact is, our batsmen just are not good enough. india, england, south africa and australia all have 2-3 (or even 4 ) players averaging high 40's or low 50's, and they score hundreds regularly.

even pakistan and sri lanka have a couple of guys who can get big hundy's each time they bat.

we simply do not have the resources. and our domestic game is too poor to get people ready for test cricket.

historically we have only won about 50% of our test matches, so I expect them to lose pretty much every time we play a big nation.

its the lack of heart and discipline that gets me riled up

Saw Southee on the news saying how they needed to learn from their mistakes and all that. Saying they weren't good enough and had to be better.

I sat there watching and thinking how many times ive heard that before. It's actually quite painful hearing them say that, like this was the first time they had been dreadful with the bat.

Enough of the negatives though, bring on tomorrow. Cant wait. Whats the pitch looking like? Important toss to win? Ross should let dan call the toss of the coin, he had a pretty good record of winning the toss if i recall

To be fair, it's not as if we need a lively green pitch to be 5 for next to nothing at any rate.

Usually I don't buy into the commentators hype because they read to much into it, but HOLY HELL that thing is green. Even from the wide shot it has a green tinge, and usually from that distance it is harder to see.
