Happy for Jimmy F - have rated his batting for a while, and glad he's producing at the moment, his current form will be hard to ignore when it comes to selecting the WC squad.

Yeah that's a couple of great knocks for Franky. Good he took his chance when it came, now he just has to keep consistency to keep the haters off his back. Interesting that he was first selected for the NZ team as a bowler but was always a batsmen in his age group days.

Im a well known Franklin hater but lets remember this is the first time he has taken his chances after being given a lot of chances.

Happy for him though. Maybe he is the answer at 7. Just please don't give him the ball. That team that played last night if you put Ryder in for How would be our top team.. correct?

Can we honestly say he's been given a lot of chances? Especially as a batsman?

No he's only been an out and out batsmen for about two seasons now. He was still being brought in as an 'all rounder" last year, which he isn't. He's a head above most middle order batsmen in the domestic competition at them moment and he's just made the step up but as I said lets hope for some consistency there. If McCullum would just keep we could ditch Hopsh*t for Franky.

But even when he has been brought into the team as an all-rounder , when he has been the best batsman in domestic cricket, he hasn't produced. Outside of a 50 v India at the Basin I think.

Former Australia and England captains Ian Chappell and Ian Botham in car park scuffle

Former England and Australia cricket captains Sir Ian Botham and Ian Chappell had to be separated after the pair had a dispute in the car park after the fourth day of the Ashes Test at Adelaide Oval

The pair's Sky and Channel 9 colleagues intervened to separate the pair after Chappell muttered a provocative comment as the pair walked past each other, UK tabloid Daily Mail reported.

Chappell and Botham have not spoken to each other since 1980 despite crossing paths at many cricket grounds around the world.

Botham was waiting for his Sky transport to collect him outside Adelaide Oval when he reportedly turned around and said "What did you say?" after Chappell had made a comment.

Chappell made another incendiary remark, and the pair dropped their luggage and were at each other's throats, Daily Mail reported.

A Channel 9 source who works with Chappell said "they went for each other all right, and it could have got very nasty if there hadn't been people on hand to keep them apart.

�They reacted quickly because we all know the history between these two," the source was quoted as saying.

"They might be aged 55 and 67, but neither of them are the type of people to give an inch in the face of conflict.�

The pair first came to blows during the Centenary Test at Melbourne in March 1977, when the then uncapped 21-year-old Botham, who was playing club cricket in Australia, happened to be in the same bar as Chappell next to the Hilton Hotel.

Botham reacted to a comment about England from Chappell, who had recently retired from international cricket.

Botham states that he landed a punch on Chappell which sent him sprawling off his bar stool into a group of Australian rules football players, scattering their drinks.

Botham says he then chased Chappell out of the bar, the Englishman hurdling a car bonnet to get at his rival.

Chappell, meanwhile, says that Botham had annoyed him about not wanting to tour England that year because �too many blokes are looking to knock your block off� and that �everyone's looking for you because you're a p****� before pushing him off his chair.

Chappell says he then walked calmly out, pursued by a ranting Botham.

The pair have since traded only insults.

I know you're anti Franklin anyway so debating with you is probably pointless but he's had less opportunities than a lot of others particularly while he's only been asked to contribute with the bat. Also I'm pretty sure he's been more dominant with the bat in domestic cricket over the past couple of seasons which roughly coincided with when he started bowling less.

Im prepared to see him given a decent run at 7 in the ODI team as a batsman. If people start talking about him as an all-rounder I will get angry. That 7 spot though depends on McCullum keeping the gloves.

I think our best ODI team at present is as follows

McCullum, Ryder, Guptill, Taylor, Styris, Oram, Franklin, Vettori, McCullum/McKay, Mills, Southee.

Despite the way they are playing at the moment that isn't a bad team. If McCullum doesn't keep though and it forces you to pick Hopkins at 7 then it looks a whole lot worse.

Firstly, Oram's name should never be mentioned for NZ selection again. Past it, injury prone, can't bowl, hot and cold batsman.

Would McGlashan be worse than Hopkins?

McGlashan is an ok batsmen in the shorter forms of the game but I don't know if he's up to internationals. I'd say he's a better keeper than Hopkins though.

Yeah, I missed that as well. No pads and no helmet standing up to Michael Mason??? Didn't make any sense to me.

I was in the kitchen when it happened but I think he broke them somehow. And for some reason didn't call for new ones. Pretty stupid and yeah at the end he couldn't catch anything.
