It's online as well - the Maori TV website. Radio Sport are also doing a commentary of the game (in English).

Unfortunately its in Maori as well.
Is that Maori TV (which is FTA) or Maori TV Te Reo? (Sky only)?Because I heard it was the latter, hence why the commentary is only in Maori.I applaud Maori TV for picking up the Breakers matches, and I'm not going to get into whether only broadcasting this game in Te Reo is good or bad. But if they're dedicating to playing the matches free-to-air then putting their most important games on pay TV only without prior warning...way uncool.http://www.stuff.co.nz/4859093a6479.html

Bugger if its on Sky.

I'm no basketball expert, but being 3 points ahead with 4 second, surely you would foul the taipans.

Thrilling game last night, But some times I didn't understand why the breakers were not fouling them more in the last few seconds of the game.

From Radio Sport...

Breakers coach Andrej Lemanis has defended their decision to not deliberately foul Dorsey when they led by three with time about to expire.

He says they've always backed themselves to play defence and it was a pretty lucky shot.

Breakers guard Paul Henare says defensively they couldn't have done much more to stop Dorsey.

He says they tried to give the Taipans any shot other than a three and the winning shot was incredible.

So much this. Even if you do back your defence you just cant take chances in a grand final match. Ive been to 3 matches this year. Perth, Regular Season, Gold Coast, Regular Season and Perth, Playoffs. It seems as if players like Bruton, Braswell and Penney try and do too much towards the end if we need a big play. So gutted i cant go to game 3 as im down in Queenstown atm..

Patronbase (site who runs breakers online tickets) site has been overloaded (crashing, errors) since about 5pm. Then when tickets were released at 6pm, chaos.

I have no confirmation for tickets, but money off my cc. hopefully all will sort out.

Also annoying "tickets to be released late afternoon" = me looking at site since 1pm. AND 6PM = EVENING!!

Disagree about fouling - It would have been it the act of shooting, 3 free throws, much more likely he'd have made them than a half-courter

How would it been 3? I am pretty sure it is just 2 free throws?

It is just 2 unless he is shooting(from beyond 3 point line) which he wasnt.

Hence you foul before he attempts to shoot - while he brings the ball up court.

I like how this thread is 3 pages long- can't have much crossover between basketball and football!

watched the world champs, but never watched these guys...though a lot of the names are the same.

someone has to go and ask these guys how to win on the road in Aussie.

Fair few NBA fans on here I believe. Probably just the NBL being less of a big deal. Haven't even seen any discussion of the NZ NBL.

If you went to foul, he'd throw up a prayer anyway, which would most likely make it 3.

I've actually swung the other way on this. Thinking about it, I think they are more likely to get three by hitting the first free throw, then missing the second and putting back the offensive rebound than by being forced to try and hit a miracle three pointer.

Well if we did foul them then obviously we would put on Pledger, Abercrombie and Wilkinson to get the rebound in that case. But there both on par for difficulty. Actually when they have Ronald Dorsey (or Phil Jones) on the court that 3 pointer is much easier as proved on Sunday night. Plus I would certainly back the 3 Breakers I mentioned above to get a defensive rebound in a situation like you mentioned. Anyway c'mon Breakers take the opportunity!

What was the award that Abercrombe got?

Fuck this stupid game

MVP of the finals series.

At the game, pretty good atmosphere again. Noise for almost all the game, although mainly from those thunder stick things.

Thought it was odd that Abercrombie got MVP, but there was no real stand out for the finals series.

Made sense to me, he had a big part in their two wins in the series, and was quiet in game 2 when they lost.

Edit: Agree there was no huge standout in the series though.aitkenmike2011-04-30 10:48:53

Brilliant stuff and congratulations. Lets hope the Nix are the 2nd NZ team to win an Aussie comp.

Just looking at the calendar, I'd hope the Warriors were 2nd, followed closely by the Nix

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Brilliant stuff, to bad it is overshadowed by the royal wedding.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.
