The Mighty Warriors - Fever League Fred

Haha, in all seriousness I think he's a good pick up, I watched quite a few Titans games last year, from a centre/winger he gets through a ton of tackling, and is good attacking as well, good signing for a position we have very little depth in. I'd certaintly play him ahead of Bill Tupou (sorry, I have to diss Tupou in every post I make about the Warriors)

Loads of reports that Folau is gonna quit GWS to come back to the NRL, with Parramatta leading the chase.

George Carmont having a trial? Wow they are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Anyone else loving the start of the Matt Elliott era? Seems like a top bloke!

Annoyed to see Nathan Friend's out injured, I thought he was probably our best player last season. At least we have competent back-up optiosn though.

How long for? I would have thought Ropati would have been the first injured.

8-10 weeks I heard, not sure whether that's gametime or from now but either way it's annoying.

To injury prone is Mr Friend

Complications from his surgery last year.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I see that old Warriors CEO Ian Robson is with Australian fumbleball now.  Amazing really, considering what he did with the "New Breed Rising"...that man could sell ice to Eskimos etc...

Sione Lousi gone for the season with an ACL injury.

Sounds very reasonable. Pondering going along to the pre-season game v Penrith, costs more though!

NRL has a draft version of their fantasy competition this season. Any one interested? Leagues sizes can range from 6 people, up to 12.

Draft?... the season starts next week, they'd better hurry up!

:-P

Alright people what do you think about how this season will play up?

My opinion is they will struggle to make the top 8. Also see the Johnson got injured in the trial on the weekend.

The storm once again will be to strong with the dogs also up there. Panthers to be the turn around team  this year

Just went onto the Shititek site to get a ticket/jersey for the Welly game and realised I'm gonna be in Brisneyland... bugger!!!

If anyone wants to do a deal with a match ticket and the other m/ship goodies (cap, sticker, etc) give me a shout as I'll end up paying almost the same price for just a jersey anyway.

The Warriors doing a haka? Owen, no! What is it with lunatic sports owners in our country!

There is something about Owen that puts me off his involvement in anything, not quite sure what it is.

Turrible idea! The haka is meant to mean something, not to be done by a few Australians EVERY WEEK.

Could understand the ANZAC Day game against the Storm, other than that its a daft idea.

Probably one of the shittest ideas i have seen or heard of in a long time, and i saw McCullum win the toss and bat first in Cape Town!

Three for me, and two for them.

NZ Warriors: Kevin Locke, Glen Fisiiahi, Dane Nielsen, Konrad Hurrell, Manu Vatuvei, Thomas Leuluai, Shaun Johnson, Sam Rapira, Elijah Taylor, Ben Matulino, Feleti Mateo, Simon Mannering (C), Todd Lowrie. Interchange: Ben Henry, Jacob Lillyman, Sebastine Ikahihifo, Pita Godinet, Steve Rapira, Charlie Gubb

Glad to see the Fish given a run from the start of the season. Hope that he is given a commission to roam around the park running off the forwards shoulders. Personally, I would have him tied to Feleti Mateo so he can run off his offloads. Exciting team, lots of potential. Concern has to be Leuluai and whether he can stand up to NRL and organise well enough to let Johnson play his game. Other concern around that team, in particular, is the lack of an x-factor player from the bench. A good group of grafters but no one to change a game.

Thought Leuluai should be given a crack at #9 with Friend out. Only time he has impressed me for the Kiwis is in that position. Taylor was great last season, worried playing Hooker might take away from his game.

I like it... and I also like hearing Elliott in the media saying not to expect to see any "Warriors ball" early in the season. That's what we were doing last year and was a big contributor  to our inconsistency. We need some structure and discipline in how we play... get those fundamentals right - roll over some opposition forward packs and away we go. Last season that wasn't happening.

I just hope we get to see it. Legally.

20 players facing bans from the ASDA investigation aparently.

Shark's game has had betting suspended and sounds like quite a number of games will have betting suspended also.

Elijah Taylor has signed for the Panthers from next season. He is someone the Warriors should have kept.

How dark would you be if you were the Sharks? Dope the players up (allegedly) and they're still rubbish.

Nb. Internet defamation hunters - please note that I use the term dope very liberally. I also jokingly imply that it was a deliberate attempt on the part of the Cronulla Rugby League Club to cheat the system.

With kindest regards,

So further info is around, 6 months would be on a guilty plea, while 2 years if they plead not guilty and get found guilty. Sounds like none of the players are going to plead guilty, so it is unlikely to effect this weekend, disappointingly.

Players comment "If we did, it was not with our knowledge, we would've been taking 'supplements' on medical advice" - Hurray the good old Supplement defence :D

So which players that were with the Sharks in that season are now elsewhere and likely to be facing similar action?

Also; listening to RS this morning - they (Sharx HQ) have offered a remuneration package incl contract extension and bonuses/pay rises/ rep inducements to those accepting the 6mths which includes a waiving of any rights to sue the Sharx.

Interesting stuff. And what about the players at other clubs?....

The players are ultimately responsible for what gets put into their bodies, so not sure the supplements defence will work. If they get banned, they should have a decent case to sue the club you would think. Sharks could go belly up if that happens.

Agreed the supplement defence shouldn't work, also think players know they can't take some substances, they should know what is going into their bodies. The fact is previous WADA cases have seen punishments reduced for athletes because they were given a 'supplement' by a trainer, doctor, coach etc and assumed it was fine.

Not sure on suing of the club, could be an interesting one if someone does do it, but would they have to prove that someone other than the doctor knew about it? Or would the fact the Doctor was team staff be enough?

Has betting stopped on wooden spoon? Cause that could be a good bet right now :P
