Coach been banned. Head trainer and manager been sacked
Can anyone point me to a link of the 'SBW dozen' cartoon that was going around a while back? Or has SBW's manager banned it?
So further info is around, 6 months would be on a guilty plea, while 2 years if they plead not guilty and get found guilty. Sounds like none of the players are going to plead guilty, so it is unlikely to effect this weekend, disappointingly.
Players comment "If we did, it was not with our knowledge, we would've been taking 'supplements' on medical advice" - Hurray the good old Supplement defence :D
So which players that were with the Sharks in that season are now elsewhere and likely to be facing similar action?
Also; listening to RS this morning - they (Sharx HQ) have offered a remuneration package incl contract extension and bonuses/pay rises/ rep inducements to those accepting the 6mths which includes a waiving of any rights to sue the Sharx.
Interesting stuff. And what about the players at other clubs?....
This is a difficult one though - short of going to a lab and having a supplement independently tested, how can the players decide other than to trust what the club Dr tells them is safe?

Agreed the supplement defence shouldn't work, also think players know they can't take some substances, they should know what is going into their bodies. The fact is previous WADA cases have seen punishments reduced for athletes because they were given a 'supplement' by a trainer, doctor, coach etc and assumed it was fine.
Not sure on suing of the club, could be an interesting one if someone does do it, but would they have to prove that someone other than the doctor knew about it? Or would the fact the Doctor was team staff be enough?

Agreed JD. Ultimately WADA policy (and the only way this scourge can be policed at this stage) is that you take responsibility for your what goes in your body, but I do feel sorry for the players who have unfairly been placed in this situation by the clubs. A player (especially a young one) isn't in a position to say 'no thanks' if a club doctor/manager/representative says 'take this, it's all good' and because of this I think any clubs with trainers or coaches involved need to be punished very significantly (titles stripped and loss of points for next season) as they failed in their responsibility to protect their players.

I actually picked us to win this one, just the type of random game we pull out of the bag every now and again. For a team with JT the Cowboys are rubbish!
I like the look of Laumape, might mean we can finally stop playing Bill Tupou and his absolutely atrocious defence. Good to see my man Nathan Friend back too, can't find a more solid player anywhere.
Although he had some good hit-ups, the first two tries were both as a result of his defensive screwups, both scored on his wing as he jammed in when he didn't need to, sometimes backing off is the way to go. Plus the two high balls that he dropped and the two tries that the Cowboys butchered when he left his man completely.
