Now talk Manly will have 17 players banned and stripped of 2 titles. Doggies fans will be worried if Hasler took the methods with him.

This has the potential to ruin the NRL

Can anyone point me to a link of the 'SBW dozen' cartoon that was going around a while back? Or has SBW's manager banned it?

So further info is around, 6 months would be on a guilty plea, while 2 years if they plead not guilty and get found guilty. Sounds like none of the players are going to plead guilty, so it is unlikely to effect this weekend, disappointingly.

Players comment "If we did, it was not with our knowledge, we would've been taking 'supplements' on medical advice" - Hurray the good old Supplement defence :D

So which players that were with the Sharks in that season are now elsewhere and likely to be facing similar action?

Also; listening to RS this morning - they (Sharx HQ) have offered a remuneration package incl contract extension and bonuses/pay rises/ rep inducements to those accepting the 6mths which includes a waiving of any rights to sue the Sharx.

Interesting stuff. And what about the players at other clubs?....

The players are ultimately responsible for what gets put into their bodies, so not sure the supplements defence will work. If they get banned, they should have a decent case to sue the club you would think. Sharks could go belly up if that happens.

This is a difficult one though - short of going to a lab and having a supplement independently tested, how can the players decide other than to trust what the club Dr tells them is safe?

Agreed the supplement defence shouldn't work, also think players know they can't take some substances, they should know what is going into their bodies. The fact is previous WADA cases have seen punishments reduced for athletes because they were given a 'supplement' by a trainer, doctor, coach etc and assumed it was fine.

Not sure on suing of the club, could be an interesting one if someone does do it, but would they have to prove that someone other than the doctor knew about it? Or would the fact the Doctor was team staff be enough?

Has betting stopped on wooden spoon? Cause that could be a good bet right now :P

(Not a lawyer!) I would have thought they could argue some form of negligence, with or without intent.

Agreed JD.  Ultimately WADA policy (and the only way this scourge can be policed at this stage) is that you take responsibility for your what goes in your body, but I do feel sorry for the players who have unfairly been placed in this situation by the clubs.  A player (especially a young one) isn't in a position to say 'no thanks' if a club doctor/manager/representative says 'take this, it's all good' and because of this I think any clubs with trainers or coaches involved need to be punished very significantly (titles stripped and loss of points for next season) as they failed in their responsibility to protect their players.

Keep Hayne quiet and we should win. Picking Warriors by 10. Doggies in the other match.

Looks like a bit of a bath.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

C'mon ref..... Some early stupidity from Mateo too.

More poor stuff from Mateo. Hope Manu's injury isnt too bad, would mean more Tupou....

 Manu is always getting injured.

Taylor is not a hooker. Started off well but a few holes in our defense, I really do not rate the Eels at all.

Who has gone into Center? Nielson has gone to wing

Think it was Ikahifho who is having a Mateo-like shocker

Yes does look like he is on the wing. Wasn't he a winger with the Under 20's

I think we might struggle with kicking goals this year

The Warriors are Auckland's Phoenix...at the moment, both are problem children, and a bit of a worry TBH.

Let's not make that assumption just yet. It is the first game off the season.

Too early for #SackElliott ?

Should ring Telfer this week and tell him they have become the New Zealand Knights.

Vatuvei on the bench? Play him in the forwards

We don't look like we could score in a brothel

Another loss. A better second half but once again Mateo is a plonker. Didn't see much of Luelei again.

Liked Godinet, That is really about it

Just no spirit there, they look like total strangers.

Sharks will be disappointed if they don't rack up 50 here.

I would prefer them to play razzle dazzle and loose. Your right they don't even look like they want to be there. Passion is gone and it is sad to see

Elliott's theory at the beginning of the season was to pull back on the "Warriors-ball" for the first part of the season and get back to doing the basics well before bring in the razzle dazzle.

It's a sound theory. As are many.

Atm they are struggling to do even the basics, like tackling and being able to catch and pass a ball.

 What a result that was

I actually picked us to win this one, just the type of random game we pull out of the bag every now and again. For a team with JT the Cowboys are rubbish!

But to do it with loosing all those players. They showed guts today.

I like the look of Laumape, might mean we can finally stop playing Bill Tupou and his absolutely atrocious defence. Good to see my man Nathan Friend back too, can't find a more solid player anywhere.

Have to admit thought Tupou was decent yesterday.

Although he had some good hit-ups, the first two tries were both as a result of his defensive screwups, both scored on his wing as he jammed in when he didn't need to, sometimes backing off is the way to go. Plus the two high balls that he dropped and the two tries that the Cowboys butchered when he left his man completely.
