I do not believe that I have ever seen a more odious c**t on a football field in my entire life.  How he wasn't sent off for his amazing show of disrespect and petulance last night staggers me.  Riley bottled it.Hard News2008-04-04 11:22:38

He's an absolute cunt. So glad he left Arsenal.

That was a straight red if ever I've seen one. Then Chelski immediately all gather round and intimidate the ref. Disgraceful stuff.

I've said it before, but the refs have got to start booking and sending off players for showing disrespect like that. They've got the power to - it's called "ungentlemanly conduct - so it's up to them to use it. (And, as has been said, Cole's challenge was a straight red anyway.)

Alex Ferguson's got a lot to answer for IMHO. It was he who refined the whole "siege mentality" thing to benefit Man Utd - that is, "the whole world is against us, all for one and one for all, lads". He took the mentality that Leeds had in the seventies and Wimbledon adopted in the eighties and increased it by the nth degree. And then Wenger and, later, Mourinho followed and look where we are now...

They learned that from the Man United manual for unsporting play manouvers.

"The Football Association have this week tried to encourage more respect for officials, and Chelsea have been guilty in the past of surrounding referees.

They received a 40,000 fine for their conduct in the clash against Derby, but Grant added: 'We give a lot of respect to the official, if you see our players they don't have a problem with these things.' " (From soccernet.com)

If they were serious, give clubs a 4 million pound fine. Only then will clubs like Manure & Chelski start to show the proper respect.

hmm do mean to go against u LG, but in the case of the latest Man u offence against the ref.. do u not agree that referee's should be poperly reviewed when they make such obvious mistakes as the penalty that should have been given to man u, directly affecting the outcome of the match, and yet nothing happens to said ref. not excusing anything else that was said, but surely refs need to be made accountable?

its the same as the a-league.

Oh for sure, referees should also be accountable for poor decision making. I also think they should be allowed to comment after a game. If shown a replay by the interviewer of a classic mistake, it would be nice to hear/see a referee actually say "OMG, I got that call wrong" or Well the player had been abusing me for much of the match and I had enough and that's why he got booked."

There are a lot of professional referees that should not be allowed to do park games, let alone first class ones. There's also a lot of park refs that would make ideal first class ones too!

You can't understand it?  I can.  Cashley c**t should have been sent.  Wasn't.  Refs send round a memo saying "after Cashley we've got to card these pricks when they chat back" and then Mascherano comes over all teeth and bullsh*t and questions a decision...of course he's going to get one.

Is Mascherano a rich man's (or poor man's!) Feverish?

Crap tackle for sure and the ref was weak as cats piss but where did Ashley Cole start down this road, Yes at Arsenal. In  Wenger 1st 4 seasons something like 50 players Arsenal players were sent off [ very proud record me arse]  so know wonder he acts like stupid w**ker.

If referees had balls there'd be more than 50 players getting sent off at Manure. Ronaldo is worthy of at least one yellow per game they way he talks to referees, scholes, rooney, neville, giggs...the list goes on.

Agree, but I think all of these over paid players in the Premiership believe they are bigger than game. The refs are way too soft now and take all types of crap and the lino's take heeps as well.
If dissent was a RED card offence, maybe the problem would go away

Mascherano certainly deserved to be red carded, was on a yelow for a poor tackle, then gets warned at least twice to back away and carries on when he's not involved in the foul......RED all the way, from here on in players like Cole, Rooney, etc will need to be very careful if refs are going to take a hardline against bullsh*t comments beeing hurled at them.

So cole's attitude in this particular game is arsenal's fault? My god that is the most deluded thing i have ever heard.

If that's the case then i blame Gallas' entire charade after the birmingham match on chelsea. And I blame Lehmann's attitude issues on Schalke 04. And i blame fabregas' tantrums on Barcelona. And I blame each and every one of Vieira's red cards on AC Milan. See - Arsenal doesn't have any problems at all, it is the fault of every other club!

But seriously, I believe there is no questioning that the chelsea player's attitudes as a whole are the worst in the premiership.

Your anti-arsenal bias is over the top Chopper, i wish i could screen your posts - that way everyone would be a little more intelligent for not having read them.

PaulM - I think you are being a little hard on Chelsea.  Certainly Chelsea have their moments, but in the not too distant past Arsenal and Manure haver hardly been saints either when it comes to discipline and berating referees.  And don't get me started on the tackle that put Terry out for several weeks earlier in the season!

Please don't blame Gallas's behaviour on Chelsea.  He was precious and up himself when he joined us and hasn't got any better with age.  Threatening to leave every season, whining when he was made to play right back etc.  One of those players that you are grateful to have had but don't look back on with any affection.  There's no denying his talent, but I wouldn't go out for a beer with him.

Ashley Cole is also a complete doughnut.  There is no dispute from anyone here he should have been sent off at Rottenham.  I think he may have one or two things on his mind at the moment though!  Personally I would rather see Bridgey playing every week but I don't get to pick the team.  As I have said on this forum many times in the past, I wouldn't p*ss on the average premier league player if he was on fire. Cole, Gallas, Lehmann, Ronaldo, Rooney, Ferdinand - overpaid thick w*nkers the lot of them.

Ref's are reviewd by the referees association. They apoint refs to matchs based on reviews and the teams playing. you just have to look at the two differant styles of ref from the "big 4" clash at easter. whilst the Manu vs l'pool refing was sh*te, Mark Clattenburg had one of his best matchs of the season during the Chelsea vs Arsenal game. based on that i wouldnt be suprised to see him get the FA cup final and be the ref in charge of the Man U vs Arsenal.

Ashley Cole gets 130,000 pounds per week, Mark Clattenburg 500 pounds per game [plus a base retainer of 30,000 pounds for the season]  hardly encourages refs to the top compared to what players earn. Funny a game of football without a ref, who needs them!!!!!
