Whoohoo! Break out the good stuff.

Lydia Ko is only 16.  This is much more newsworthy and meritorious than a couple of expensive boats in San Francisco.

Think you were full of it last season with Man City. Changed your team?

I loved that film - was talking about it at work this morning and it was not getting the love it deserves.

Sharknado - So bad that you had to watch it to the end just to see how bad it really was. It's a cult classic in the making. Example: two actors in a scene, one has brilliant blue sky with no clouds, the other has a cloudy sky as if it's been raining - yet they are side by side. If I wa sa shark swallowed up by a tornado being flung around the sky, the think eating lumps out of humans would be the last thing on my mind. As I said, so bad that you had to watch it to believe it!

My Sunday "dependents' taxi service" has changed hours of operation.  As a result I have managed to listen to mediawatch on National Radio: http://www.radionz.co.nz/national/programmes/mediawatch

This week's is not up on the web yet, but covers the media hype and hypocrisy over the Amurikas Cup (two boats, one cup) and also the DP's rather bumbling efforts to not report on Mystery Morrison's sleazing (as is common for gents of a certain age).

'twas very good.

Well done the Football Ferns for beating Brasil and then going on to win the Valais Cup against China.  Great work and fantastic for football in NZ.

Congratulations Lydia Ko at only 16 years old becoming ranked 4th in the world for women's golf after winning her first major turnament.  Outstanding.

Good on ya EmiratesNZ - a good contest between some rich dudes on an expensive boat against even richer dudes on an even more expensive boat.

Oracle. To come from so many races down and to have to have won everything after Team NZ got to 8 wins, shows that they had the desire to finish the job . Really Team NZ should have killed this contest off last week.

Oracle has to have the record for the greatest ever comeback.

Rondinelli? Had never heard of him - until now.

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Bobby Rondinelli played drums for Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow for a couple of years. The other drum solo I like was in the middle of Quenn's song "Brighton Rock"  - "Live Killers" album when Roger Taylor let loose. Then of course there was Keith Moon....

Time to get all pedantic, wasn't the band just called Rainbow at that point? I preferred Cozy Powell tbh and was not a fan of Difficult to Cure or Straight Between the Eyes.

Blackmore is a bit of an arse by all accounts.

I think you will find it was only that first Album that had Ritchie's name on it, all the rest were just "Rainbow". I've got them all including a rare "Down to Graham" release from a Rainbow Concert in Budokan. Sound quality is superb on it too. Alas Bonnetts career was way too short. I thought he was a good replacement for Dio and I still can't take Joe Lyn Turner seriously.
