That was so special, I'm still buzzing. Bencher was a great place to watch the second half after the Nix, and the atmosphere with that last try!

Could well be worth a road trip next weekend.

Had to laugh at the muppet who stood in the stands flippin the bird at the warriors players after a mistake (sh*t ref call). Anyway I hope they show a replay of that, especially if the Broncos can beat them at Suncorp (fingers crossed) and knock them out. Huddlestone2008-09-15 08:40:41

There can't be take 5 - the GF would be take 4 (if Warriors beating Roosters is take 2, then the GF qualifier would be take 3 and GF itself take 4).

And I'm pretty sure the GF qualifiers and GF itself are played at the Olympic stadium (can't remember what they call it officially these days, is it still Telstra stadium?).

Might see you there Salmon.
Has anyone seen these reports coming out of Brisbane today about the Sex allegations? three players are being investigated and sounds pretty serious. Could have massive ramifications, all bookmakers in OZ have stopped taking bets on the premiership, only taking money on us v roosters at mo.

If the Warriors come to play on Fri night then the Roosters will pose no problem as they are a hot and cold team and haven't been playing all that great the last 8 or so weeks. Big wrap must also go to the Jnr Warriors after being down 14-0 to St George to come back and win 47-20.

What if the Roosters turn up hot then? They were cold last week so hot this week?

I still think the Warriors will win.

GF qualifier will be at Manly's home ground (I'm pretty much certain, could be wrong though). GF at ANZ.

[quote]THREE high-profile Brisbane Broncos players are at the centre of a police investigation into an alleged sex scandal that has thrown the NRL finals series into chaos.

Broncos and Queensland State of Origin stars Karmichael Hunt, Darius Boyd and Sam Thaiday were allegedly named by a 24-year-old woman in a sexual assault complaint made to police on Saturday night.
League Central: For all the latest NRL news

The three were allegedly engaged in sexual acts with the woman in the toilet of a Brisbane nightclub and she complained to police after one of the players allegedly began filming with a mobile phone.

Paul Kent: Storm clouds on Broncos' horizon

The revelations sent shockwaves through the NRL yesterday, with betting on the finals series suspended while police sifted through the allegations.

The sordid antics allegedly occurred in the toilet of the Alhambra Lounge nightclub in Fortitude Valley after Broncos players embarked on a drinking session to celebrate their victory over the Sydney Roosters the previous night.

Sources told The Daily Telegraph the three engaged in oral sex with a woman in the men's toilets of the Alhambra Lounge after a day of drinking at the Story Bridge Hotel. Two of the players are then alleged to have had sexual intercourse with the woman while the third recorded the acts on a mobile phone camera.

Police said they received a complaint from the woman on Saturday night which was followed up on Sunday with a written statement from the woman alleging she had been raped.

Detective acting Superintendent Tony Duncan said police were "trying to piece together the whole circumstances" surrounding the incident.

Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen confirmed three of his players had been interviewed by police yesterday.

"As soon as the Broncos were made aware of the allegations, an internal investigation team was formed," he said.

The NRL had been on track for a bumper second finals weekend, kicking off with the Broncos' showdown with title favourites Melbourne on Saturday night.

Police are understood to be angry that details of the investigation were leaked.

Simon Mannering picked up the premier accolade when he was named the Lion Red Player of the Year at the Vodafone Warriors annual awards dinner at the Sky City Convention Centre tonight.
The 22-year-old second rower, one of three players to appear for the club in all 25 NRL games so far, beat four other nominees - hooker Ian Henderson, loose forward Micheal Luck, centre Brent Tate and winger Manu Vatuvei for the title.
The durable Mannering hasnt missed a match for the Vodafone Warriors since making a belated start to their 2006 campaign against the Bulldogs on April 30 that year.
In this Friday night's play-poff against the Sydney Roosters at Mt Smart Stadium, hell make his 68th consecutive NRL appearance, his 75th in all.
He hasnt missed a match for New Zealand during that period either putting together a run of 12 test appearances as well as a non-test match in Greymouth, giving him a tally of 81 straight games for club and country.
Tonight he earned his award on the strength of consistently outstanding performances for the Vodafone Warriors in 2008.
With 15 tries in 15 matches, Vatuvei picked up the Vodafone One Tribe Player of the Year, as voted for on a weekly basis by One Tribe members.
Vatuvei was also named the Puma Club Person of the Year for his overall contribution to the club both on and off the field. Luck, who won the award the two previous years, was again a nominee as was captain Steve Price. Vatuvei also becomes the Vodafone Warriors One Community ambassador, taking over from Luck.
Luck is, however, in line for the NRLs premier community award the Ken Stephen Medal, awarded to the player who makes the most outstanding contribution to the community through rugby league. Last year Ruben Wiki became the first Vodafone Warriors player to win the prestigious medal.
In the other key award of the night, Ben Matulino, still only 19, beat winger Aidan Kirk and second rower-centre Sonny Fai for the Vodafone Young NRL Player of the Year title.
Another feature of the night was the farewell to departing players Wiki, Logan Swann, Wairangi Koopu, Ryan Shortland and Michael Crockett.

So if you can't be bothered reading:
Mannering - Player of Year
Matulino - Rookie of Year
Vatuvei - Club Person of Year.

Never any doubt that Simon would win it (IMO). Thoroughly deserves it.

Looking forward to Friday night, apart from my usual gripe about Warriors games which are sell-outs. "Where were all you bastards for the past 26 weeks".

You're right Jag, it really bugs me when the rugby-driven public and even the media (to an extent) jump on the Warriors bandwagon when they're doing well. I live in Wellington but everytime I head up home to Rotorua, or to see friends in Hamilton, I try and make sure I head to Mt Smart for a game. To think I saw the last game of league SBW played in this country...
