as for stokes valley the first team problems started last year when there was just general unrest in the team. it was pretty much known that not a great amount of the first team would come back. of those who did return i think they just showed up to training, saw only 7 or 8 people and thought i think ill go elsewhere. at least that was my perspective as a young player in the team. havent heard anything about boots or subs and dont really care, just wanna play football. if they did leave for that reason only its pretty sh*t

so does every club in Cap 1 pay teams subs?
we did, as you know, 2 seasons ago when we were in cap 1. and we will again once we win cap 2 this year and go back up.

are you sure G? I paid my subs both years I played for Varsity in Cap 1
what I meant was that ALL PLAYERS from the 1st to the 14th team play their own subs at Varsity. Only those who manage teams get their subs refunded at the end of the season (minus any fines they may have collected on the way for not ringing in results etc).

Has anyone heard when Cap 1, Cap 2 etc is starting this year? Is it the first weekend after Easter?

Its either the first weekend before Easter or Easter weekend itself (with two games - the Friday and the Monday).

It's Easter. Double header Sat/Mon for Cap 1 I believe.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

You're playing at Newtown and Petone 1. What are you winghing about? Possibly 2 of the best grounds in Wellington.

Its no longer a problem.

haha, Wakefield 3 times too!!

Atleast you don't have to play on it half the time (like us!)

Island Bay seconds last pre-season hitout yesterday against Olympic seconds.

IBU won 6-2 but it was a typical pre-season game - pretty casual, both teams understrength (I'm assuming Olympic were as I know we were), crappy field (with artificial cricket pitch in the middle and no field markings!), but still a good hit out.  And always good to get some goals under the belt.

Any other pre-season games been played?

Ktown Dreamers play Titanic 3rds. Pretty even but they boosed us on the scoreline. They were pretty decent for a Cap2 side. We were very make-shift, but saying that lots away at Easter so could be a tough start.

Olympic 6-1 Petone.

Petone reduced to 9 men but the score was already 6-1 at that stage. Olympic just far too good.

No need for a sack Smith thread now though...I might jump before pushed!

The 1st team backed us up with a 7-2 loss in Central League.

I'm off to hang myself.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

The no.2 is even worse. And what a frustrating as f**k game to watch from a BNU perspective
it must be pretty bad then. im surprised there weren't a lot of injuries today.
was frustrating for us as well, should have had 2 or 3 more. at least we can say we got the points i guess.

Im sidelined with a torn ankle ligament from these hard grounds. Sucks.

there have been endless talks/debates about it, doesn't look like a lot will change so no point going into it again. all the best for your recovery though

We can use the YF help in putting pressure on the Council to get the Wakefield Park upgrade proposal under way. Check the Wakefield Park website and register your interest in getting the ground upgraded!!!

From what I heard on the street it could be D-Day for both 1st and Reserve team coaches out at Petone!

Nothing to do with the quality of the players then?

Of course not - if professional sports has taught us anything, and it hasn't. Is that it is ALWAYS the coaches fault, and never the players!
