WU played really well. Only team playing decent football as opposed to long ball stuff. Olympic did fight back with a few lapses from WU. But Well deserved victory.

I don't think there is anything needed to be said to the doubters!

Looks like any team can grab that 2nd place spot to be honest, even those that dont train...

Well... Never say never. This season looks like the season for WU, I mean we can talk about the pre season friendly 3-1 win over Olympic or the 4-2 win yesterday over Olympic. Two from two. Already looking forward to the return leg at Newtown, can we make it 3 from 3? I believe we have been our own worst enemies with the 3 draws and should be sitting comfortably on top. Our defense is still in tact and with goals now rising (thanks Olympic), next weekend we must take our revenge on the only team that has beaten us this season.

did they ever, 90 percent of their players were throwing their toys, maybe if they had concentrated on actually playing football they could of stood a chance. Was definitely W.U day and deserved the win with good football and keeping a cool head when the opposition was exploding all round the park

Not sure what sending offs where for but after three years at United playing against Olympic, I find it frustrating to know if I had a talent in the team like theirs, I would be personally disciplining them myself. Why throw away such good footballing talent with the inevitable that we know Olympic to do-it's beyond me why the react like thugs instead of playing attractive football like we know they can.
Mind you, even before they had the sendings off we pressed their midfiled so tightly they resorted to the long ball-which is something I've never seen Olympic do.

A tip for other teams in Cap 1. And not trying to sound too pretentious because of our win, but if you close Olympic down early and stop their main guy in midfield, they start to play the ball from the back into their midfield-back out and then the long ball onto the two fast forwards (which are FAST!)

Like I said, not boasting just a tip!

Olympic and Welly U are two good teams. Our game plan was bang on, the result went our way but Olympic showed some steel and talent by coming back from 2 nil down to equalise with only 10 men and had us on the ropes. The 2nd red killed things for them though. The rematch will be worth charging for.
Get sick of people knocking our reserves too. They are a great bunch and have ther own decent share of talent and steel. Its a pity that some people from Warf were so quick to diss them last week, proving that playing experience doesn't actually equate to footballing knowledge.

why does wellington united constantly whine about people bagging them - especially you? no ones bagged wellington united more than any other club on here. stop reading to much into peoples personal opinons and get on with playing football.
seriously some times i think your better of not commenting on sh*t. your just trying adding fuel to the fire by saying sh*t comments like this.

hmm.  Being a bit precious arent we? On the basis of one of your lot commenting on how they were going to do v Bubbles, Buckle and I gave on opinion on who the better team was based on playing/watching both teams. Olympic were by far the better team. But hey I'm sure you can go on and win the league if it means that much to you. Facing the bubbles with 11 men might be a different story. I think they have recently lost their striker Richie who is very sharp so perhaps they have dropped a bit.

Precious? Hardly. You and Buckle made a judgement call on the game based on you guys getting smashed by Olympic and drawing with us. I'd expect you both to know that there is more to a football match than just past form by both sides. I do agree  though and I've already said this - Olympic are a good side and could well have won if 10 men had been able to stay on the field, could being the operative word. And Richie isn't playing, he is out for the season I believe. Its now up to the Warf dreamers to hold Olympic and really open up this league. Or do they actually care about winning the league?

ken, i am genuinely supriised by yesterday's result (which is not the same as saying its a fluke). yes, bc dreamers drew with WU (who looked only ok that day) and yes bc olympic humped dreamers. But lets be honest, olympic's record is remarkable - 45 goals for and 12 against and that includes losing to WU on the weekend. C/w diamonds 15 for and 8 against. so i am harldy going to confess to having some prejudiced or tainted view of the world for implying Diamonds were not as good a side as the Greeks.

I'll forgive both of you if you promise to cancel the trip and play against Olympic and take some points off them. I suspect we will need someone to do it for us to win this league. But going back to the game, our guys were always quietly confident about this one that's why Top Left made his prediction. It really was a remarkable game too. Who would believe that cold corner of Wellington known as Wakefield # 2 could showpiece everything that is good and bad about foorball in a mere two hours. To top things off the guy wearing the inflatable shark on his head (he must be the Island Bay mascot) kept walking over to have a look.  Quite surreal really.

In regards to the people who predicted we'd lose, it's probably fair that you made that assumption based on earlier results but all I was saying is I thought we were a chance to beat them. We have played very poorly against some of the other teams this year and I'd like to think we still haven't reached our potential. Also, we had injuries and suspensions on our side too - which I guess is credit to the depth we have this year. Was one hell of a game though, just waiting for the excuses from the greeks, bound to be some.

I blame the leaf that obstructed the path of the oncoming bus driver, who in turn swerved to his left, startling a cat, who then jumped onto a tree, causing an apple to fall on an old ladies head, causing a stroke, who was then rushed to the hospital where a doctor preformed a brain transplant, only to find out the brain was the wrong match, so had to call in for another one, and as the transporter of the brain was on his way to the hospital, hit a bump, causing the brain to fly out of the drivers seat and land in the lap of a half naked man who was lathering himself up with oil, during our teams warm up.

This obviously caused the distress that was the basis of our poor performance.

...and the ref was sh*t.

With 2 teams 4 points behind dreamers having a game in hand I cant see that space opening up, wishful thinking on your part.
