I've been wanting to talk all kinds of shit about how good the lads have been, but thought I'd let everyone else make a dick of themselves instead... plenty of that going on ..

BNUs results say more than anyone's words could. Reserves top of the table too.

BNU doing well but is this because the team is extra special this year or is the rest of the teams in the grade not quite up to previous years?

i feel the later may be the case but that is not to mean that BNU still don't have a special team as they have a good record so far and i hope they go all 18 games undefeated….ooops 20 games undefeated like the invincible arsenal did some years back.

I remember when a Naenae player said something along these lines on here once. I think Naenae got relegated that year

Fuck this stupid game

BNU to go unbeaten all season. Then find out they've been fielding an ineligible player for every game. Get relegated. 12 team cap 1 next season on appeal.

Heard it here first.

What are the key fixtures over the long weekend? Mar looking to bounce back from a disappointing result against NW and play BNU. What other juicy ones we have?

IBU vs Naenae is on Wakey 1 while the top of the table Central league clash is on 2 from 17:30ish.

Hoping to catch bits of both.

I'm surprised BNU have full points. Though the midget between the sticks might have a bit to do with it if he is showing the form he did in the cup loss when he wasn't picking the ball out the net.

  1. Will be massive if we do - have some players (me) away for a few weeks due to Weddings and honeymoons. Have also been hit hard by injuries already
  2. Lolol - ALL the boots... or none - you know grass greener.... all those things (dodges question)
  3. BNU - great training environment, leave it at that. Plus tracksuits are nice
  4. I was taller then the bride (JUST) also - it was a lovely Navy/black number. I looked quite suave
  5. Turn it up - knowing the boys can score goals is more useful at the moment. I'd rather win a league winning 4-2 each week. Then the heart-attack that was Marist 5 years ago winning 1-0 or drawing 0-0 almost all games

KCU 2 wharf 1. Two clinical strikes from an impressive KCU. Hard to fathom the same team lost to the Nui (aka the cannibals)

North wgtn 4 Marist 3

Tough game.  Marist fought back well, definitly not a bottom of the league team.

Just thinking, why aren't the better/fitter refs doing Cap 1 where they have no help? Surely that would make sense. The ref at KP just blew his whistle to the loudest appeal. Seemed 12v11 at too many times of the match. Wharfies didn't help themselves as they didn't take their ample chances

On your advice teza ( from many months ago) I managed to watch 70 mins of Norf welly v Marist. Left with the score at 4-3.

Some observations :

1) to North Wellys credit they try and play football, albeit overplaying and then errors in their own half costing weak goals.

2) the new turf/car park are excellent.

3) north welly squad has a few really decent players, they will be up their this season.

4) Peter Howe was the best player on the pitch by a mile, and prob the best in league.

5) it wasn't windy !!! And that was much to my liking.

6) have to disagree Marist are poor, and at 4-1 I thought your guys were going to hump them by double figures.

Cheers

Marist really were woeful against WU two weeks ago, if they were as bad again I think they will be near the bottom at the end of the season.

I don't reckon they're all that bad. And apparently they've lead in about 4 games so perhaps something more to do with belief?

IBU beat naenae 4-1.

3 goals in 4mins for IBU in the 2nd half.

The ref for wharf v KCU was utterly disgraceful. Think Chris Cairns got to him...

i may be mistaken but i thought i read the keeper moved to BNU and one of the reasons was lack of goals being scored and 0-0 and 1-0 results.
so they seem to of fixed the scoring issue but now have a hole in the defence and leak goals…..
so maybe if the keeper had stayed they would be doing better than they have been and BNU might not be so solid at the top?
still NW will take the 3 points won fair and square on the park….

BNU stroll 3-0 over Naenae.

A few walking wounded from both teams - the ref let a lot go

Permalink Permalink

well i hope naenae have repaired as the only game tomorrow with any possibility of being tight is NW vs NAENAE at the naenae.....

and seeing NW only played one game last week i would have to back them for the win but i do hope it is not a walk over like the BNU game was described above....

NW needs some good competitive games to prepare for later in the season when things will get harder as teams secure there spots and do the big player moves.

will BNU keep there form intact?

and will home advantage finally get wainui 3 points?

What are you implying when saying 'big player moves'?

Permalink Permalink

as with every season a few players get injured and so players play up to fill the holes.

as the season progresses these players return and either drop and work there way back up the grade or the fill ins are just dropped back.

these players who drop back are usually the better players of the div and the recovering players are differently better than average.

this used to be quite common but if not done now i will stand corrected.

And looks like Marist have tipped up Brooklyn 3-2. Anyone got deats on that match?

BNU 1 nil up at the half
Marist then go 3-1 up in the second half, one a penalty - (player says it struck his arm, but ref gave it), one a break away cut back and finished well, and the other a mare on my part. We also didn't finish our chances today. Marist played direct and hard, a lot of free kicks given away in the middle of the park by Marist. Should there have been booking due to persistant infringing? Maybe. But then we bought into it a bit and should have just played our football.
All in all - Marist played a system and played it well. Fortress Kilbirnie alive and well really - they are definitely a better team then their results suggested. They feel the same way, but who knows. BNU will bounce back against Naenae this week
(god that's hard to write when seeing both sides of the coin :P)

some interesting results this week and i just had a look back to last year mid year point (i know there is an extra round to get to half way) and that had some twists as well

L Hutt  20

BNU  18

Karori 16

NW  15

Tawa 13

KCU  12

Seat  10

IBU  9

Mir  9

Vic uni 7

Tawa must of thought they were in good shape but ended last after 18

seatoun were possibly struggling but managed to get to 3rd after 18

so seeing we have two extra games this year i wonder how this will change the situation of those in the basement and the mid table boys who may go to sleep like taws did.

I reckon Naenae, Wainui and the Gossies are the only teams to need to worry about relegation.

Any team that reaches 40 points will get promoted - and it could be a couple of teams. The big question will be how will Wellington United go in the second half of the season if their first team drop a few games and can't win the Premier league
