Greetings to our old friends at Slayers, Martians and Destroyers! Up for another season and heh guys we are not bottom of the league!!! Kind old Capital Football have put a division below us! Choice.

So we have to avoid the bottom four places in our mini round of seven games.

We have one of the new teams up first, the Kaori Sealads...anyone out there from that team? Tell us about yourselves so we know a bit about you before welcoming you to Waihora.Hard News2008-04-24 14:11:08

The Karori Sealads is an extention of the succesful Karori Sealords team. They have grown too big for one team - so are now looking to dominate Cap 14a.  Rumour is they have both Clebo and George playing for them.

Oh my god!! The Sealords wasted us on their way up the league!!

We have finished bottom of the whole league for two seasons...be kind to us!!! So if they have Clebo and George that means they are all young and fit...I am 56 for heavens sake!!!

At least you guys don't have the Vauxhalls in your grade this year.  We (the Goldenrods) were the only team they beat last year.  As pennance for that we've been dropped into Cap 13 with them!

Slayers are back again this season looking to continue on their run of form from late last season. Have lost a few players from last season and the recruitment drive has not gone as well as expected so the bench will be short. Had our first pre season game today (only 10 turned up, not a good sign)  End result..... it's too bloody hot to be playing football.

Hi Slayer! Good to hear from you guys!

PC Mana have much the same side again but seem a bit more settled with our students now the core of the side rather than us old guys. My 41st consecutive season of senior football beckons!

Our division seems to be the "old" teams like Destroyers, Martians, Slayers and Mana plus four new teams. Hope the new teams arent like Brooklyn Northern from last year! Dont think I want any more 14-0 thrashings thank you!!

Is the "big guy" playing for you again this year?

Hi Slayer. Looking forward to meeting up with you guys next weekend.
Lets hope we can both get 11 players to turn up and no injuries.

"Big Guy" is back again and hungry to get on the score sheet so for your own safety be sure to give him plenty of room when you see him steaming towards goal.

Looking forward to next weeks game Nightz, the aches from yesterday's game should hopefully just about be gone by then. High pressure negotiations are still taking place to strengthen our squad in time for season start.

Hey guys,

Yes Sealads are the 'second' Sealords side. We wanted to call them Sealords 2 but that was unable to happen.

Looking foward to a good season, Sealords 1 are in Capital 7 this year after taking out Cap8

i really should stop cruising Cap 14a get back to the safety net of the Div 8 thread but;

Sealords did dominate Cap 8 last year but lowly Salmon drew 1-1 on the postage stamp of the Velodrome and did them the favour of beating rivals Lower Hutt and Stop Out- still haven't recieved thank you card Sealords

and Vauxhalls are the dirtiest team in the league- we had them in Cap 8 for years- they broke our keepers leg, broke my arm, constantly DRUNK while playing- other teams and ourselves asked Capital Football to ban them and they sent them to Div 13! - what are you going to do..............

as News would say: "Meh"

Okay okay maybe you did do us a favour but Stop Out did us a few favours as well (choke choke).

Yes as commented last season in the Cap8 blog we agree that the vauxalls are the dirtiest team in the league...We played them and one of the dudes tried to start a fight with one of our players mothers!

so good to see them struggling!

Salmon give us a yell if you want a pre-season match this weekend...we could use a good run out before the our first game is cap7!

Yes we all hate the Vauxhalls! They were beating us easily one year but still awarded themselves a penalty with two minutes to go so one of their players could get a hat trick!!! Sometimes I feel like just giving them the ball rather than losing limbs I might need another time.....

Lucky for us they are in Div 13 not 14 ! Yeh!

What is your team looking like this year Nightz? Mostly the same players or do you have new blood?

Not to sure yet. I went to a kick around a few sundays back and there were 5 of us. We have a game against the Slayers on Saturday so I guess we will see who turns up.

20-21  just the fact you young guys can run without fear of having a heart attack makes you elite in this div

Help! How are we, PC Mana, Slayers and martians going to cope with 20-21 year olds!!

Only joking...we have quite a few students too mainly ex Mana plus some Uni boys so its not all bad. Nightz, not everyone needs constant medical attention like you and I (are you bringing the oxygen masks and pumps this year or am I?)

We havent heard from Eastbourne....anyone know the background to their team? In the past they have had a few junior teams and a Masters side...is this a team for graduating juniors or left over Masters?!

And heh there are dozens of teams called UNITED so dont fall out over the Cougars name!

Thanks for the game Nightz, a draw was a fair result and more importantly no injuries to worry about going into the start of the league.

just finnished playing the other north wellington team from 14b. Got ourselves killed at least 3-1. Any aspirations of being a force in 14a have gone out the window!

Pre season Form eh? We lost 6-3 to our other Poirua City team (Div 13).

So who knows?

I managed a full 90 mins which is the main thing.

So first matches tomorrow. Good luck to all teams. Look forward to seeing the results saturday night to see how the Division is shaping up.

We have the Sealads so we will see you guys in the wild wastes of Waitangirua at the beautiful Waihora Park. Please do not be alarmed by the gang headquarters located next to the field - we have a reasonable relationship with them....honest!

If you have not been to Waihora before you need to know that the alleged changing rooms are probably best missed out! They are a small bunker with no light.

I remember the good old days at Waihora in the early-1990s when a bar was running.  We got the time for our game wrong and turned up at midday - the bar was open so we eneded up drinking for a couple of hours before actual kick-off.

I sort of recall playing a blinder that day.

Nightz my boots are black...does that make me a good player! They were originally with some white stripes but they have sort of got rubbed off over the years...or is that decades?....

Good luck today to Martians and Slayers! We have the young Sealads oh arr me hearties!

So PC Mana 0 Sealads 5. Slightly unjust result I felt as we had several near misses and a couple of the goals were rebounds of our (temporary) keeper. A 2-0 or 3-1 score would probably have been fairer. But the Sealads deserved to win.

Important to note that the Sealads are a very sporting and nice set of ;lads. Well done!

Slayers 1 Stokes Valley 2. Afair result with the scores tied at half time and looked as though a single goal would be the difference. The ole legs tired for the slayers in the last 20 and SV deserved the winner.
