Of course thats how I meant it Mr B, I'm not one to sl*g off my own team mates. Do wish I could be awesome like you and the Fristr8dstriker  though.

if its really that bad why don't you go talk with someone at your club and get put into one of the higher teams?
otherwise working your way up is the only option, unless a little bribery to the folks at capital football is on the cards

In 2006 the mighty Waterside Sealords won capital 13. They asked Waterside to move them more then the standard one grade. And in 2007 the Sealords kicked off in capital 8 (which they duly won). You can move up more than one grade, but you will need your clubs support and there  has to be a spot open for you somewhere. SL2 look forward to welcoming Porirua-Mana to "The Cage" (Wilton Park) on Saturday. A ground where the Sealords franchise has never lost at.

P.s. Go the Mancs, screw Chelski

Plus I like the fact that the league does two rounds. Just think they should scrap the mini league and have home and away semis before a winner takes all grudge match at the ring of fire

ah the rose tinted glasses of youth- Sealords won Div 8 with a little help from their friinds the Salmon, beating your arch rivals Stop Out in the penultimate round- you hardly romped through it unscathed

the truth of the matter is most teams in the lower leagues can be competitive on their day-
Salmon have beaten the Wgtn Utd Arms, leaders in Div 6- a team Sealords would struggle with (as in fight well with- not be clean swept mind)

it does seem like Div 14 is a bit lopsided though

Salmon swim upstream

We have been talking with the club, they said there's not much they can do re: this season.

Fairplay though, understood that you've gotta work your way ups and jiggy your comments are encouraging, we've got relativley good steed in thee club so fingers crossed, we'll see what happens.

And yes div 14 is a very lopsided leauge. We'll see how the second round goes though perhaps...Maybe a few of the teams have come into their own

patience lads. Enjoy the playoffs (no other grades have these), win those,  and enjoy the chances you get to play on the Hallowed Turf. Its a dream pitch that no other club can offer their social teams. Next season things may change on where the Mighty Universale lie in the Welly U hierachy.

Slayers worked out a convincing 2-0 lead and once again failed to carry on going down 2-6 to Stokes Valley Destroyers. O well at least those guys are top of the table although going on our results against them (2-6 and 1-2) it's a little surprising.
The game was played in great spirit and was enjoyable although the sight of our top (make that the guy who scores 99%) of our goals limping off just before full time was a worrying one.

Practice, are you kidding, If I'm lucky I only start walking without a limp by thursday.

Universale marches on as always 4 - 1 (and the goal conceeded was a embarrasgnly average 30 foot free kick (looked like an attempted cross) in windy rainy conditions) in possilby our worst display of the saeason, but a fun day in the mud : D

I did enjoy the comments from your number 11 asking how many ringers we had in our team because as one of the bottom teams we shouldn't have been playing as well as we were (for 60mins atleast) and telling him none. don't know if he believed but we didn't have any and from were we where we have improved heaps consideering we'd never played together before this season and most of us havn't payed in years.

did feel sorry for the blokes who had to play on that pitch after us. And the old guy with the walking sticks was gold

Hey we aint played together before this season either nor played in years and won ouir first game (against you i believe) 11 - 0?  lol had been playing street footy allot together though tbh...

Haha sorry had to say it, was a really good game though i enjoyed myself. We weren't really playing our normal style, stated throwing up stupid through balls and crosses which are generally worthless and especially so in those conditions.

That said you guys were VASTLY improved from the first time we played you. Going in hard to tackles, distributing the ball well and probably only the second team of the season to knock us off our form at all (bar upper hutt city), well played.

And yes the old guy is a classic, COME ONNNN ORRRRRANGE!!

Yeah we have Upper hutt city this weekend - lost 11-2 them last time and shouldn't be anywhere near as bad this time.

And yes it was against us, and it was raining and a sh*te horrible day that day as well

so in the last 2 games you have played besides unversale you lost to the army 5-1 and lost to SV 5-0 and yet we bet both of them by 10 goals and we beat you 4-1 last week and you were a decent team much better than the army or SV so how did you not beat them by as least 3 goals? rather than vice versa? and you had no ring ins?????
Permalink Permalink

no ring ins, we played sh*te against SV, really had no energy, couple of easy goals let us down. I had a good game (not being egotistical)  the guy i was marking was getting harrased by his mates cos he couldn't get round me (he was average though lol). we shouldv've scored a couple really.

The army used a sh*te ref, we were 1-1 for ages, then gave away a penalty, would've been hapy with 2-1 but some sh*t inconsistant calls gave them some well placed free kicks which they scored from towards the end of the game, thought it was 4-1 though? we had a moan about the ref and one of their guys said do you want to ref? why couldn't they put someone on that knew the game in the first place? he was calling freekicks penalty's and stuff.

we do well for 60mins but our fitness lets us down at the end, we are communcating better as a team and we havn't had to reshuffle the back line for a few weeks so it helps as we are gelling better and know what we are all doing.

The main problem is we can't score goals, we create the oppurtunities but can't finish. We should've won the game against Brooklyn, we were up at half time in that game, let easy goals through again and lost 4-3 i think. Karori will be a good game when we play them, kind of on par with us so will be good.

thats prob enough of a rant

Beav, chill why would the guy lie? and so convincingly??? :P

Nai belive you there Christo, so me on sat you looked the same team jsut well improved.

An beave, yo know we played really really average on sat (worst game of season?), proably part of the reason why we didnt win by more - and of course you would expect them to improve over time and with a full team! and they wernet waaay better than SV or army on sat....

Good job christo, keep it up!

Saturday sees our return fixture v the Martians. First round we had a weakened team so hopefully a full team will see us win this week! Our problem remains goalkeeping (no consistency there) and inability to score. But otherwise we are matching teams for large chunks of games. Not as weak as in previous years in my view....not bottom this year!!

Nightz, how are the legs holding up? Mine are getting very frail these days (season 42).

Not to good Orpewise, 50/50 wether I will play Saturday. In fact we are likely to have a very weak team (worst than usual) if we even have 11 players at all. Hoping for rain  and a cancelled game at this stage.

I don't think so, have you seen us play? lol At the end of the day a lil bit of competition is good, i think.

And kinda figured everyone wanted a run round, its a good thing being a defender you hardly ever get subbed cos everyone wants the glory up front

......sorry to hear about the legs! But happy you might be weak for a change compared to us!! But you know my strikers couldn't score goals when the other side are off the pitch at half time let alone during an actual game........

Good to hear the banter from the other division; they are getting like Slayers, Martians and Mana!!

WTF!!! Why did the army default? Why did Island bay default!! Been waiting all week and get this news! argh!

I really think cap football should replay missed games eh, I mean we pay $3200 for our 3rd missed game? F**K!!!!! haha

Oh hey, Christo - is you number 11 always so grumpy? I play CB, and my LWB was having a mini war with him all day! He is so temperamental, and was  just grabbing all our tops..

Would we just write to cap football to complain? im desperate!

Heartbreak! Lost 4-3 to the Martians after being ahead 3-2 with only 4 minutes to go. How can we give away two goals in the last 4 minutes??!!...dont answer there is no answer...despair....

And I had returned to my position of old up front as target frontman...much more fun than holding midfield! So we are bottom again despite all the effort, all the improvement, all the bad luck we are bottom again...aaargh!

yeah that was gutting, thought we were going to get out of our winless streak today. Is the guy with the dislocated shoulder okay?

I enjoyed hat last 5 min's even though I was standing on the sideline.
What I couldnt understand was why you had a 10 man defence and therefore couldnt play the ball out of your on half. You were just asking for trouble and you got it. Martians are very happy to be top of the bottom 4.

Um i think i know who you are talking bout, we change numbers most every week, but no generally not like that at all i don't think, maybe a bit of frustration creeping in.

And what you writing to cap football about?

We had a chat and think maybe they defaulted to you guys so their goal difference wouldn't get blown out.

we had another loss 5-0 to the upper hutt city boys, another good improvement for us, they beat us 11-2 last time, and we didn't play well at all, The ground was still a bog, thouhgt it may have dried a little with a day and a bit of sun and wind. Karori next week, looking forward to that!

I don't think so buddy, but when we finally get the chance to meet on the paddock hopefully we will fulfill that prophecy.

Slayers went down in a hard fought 2-0 to Eastbourne at Awakairangi. Certainly a huge improvement on the 7-2 hiding received last time (did I mention I missed that game).

Bring on the Cougars!
