CAPITAL 16:

Wgtn Un Legends _2_ Naenae Nighthawks _4_ Newtown;

Uni Cycles _2_ UH Slayers _2_ Ben Burn;

Brooklyn Northern _2_ Petone _3_ Happy Valley 2 (12.30);

Nth Wgtn Stella _3_ Olympic _3_ Raroa (12.30);

SV Destroyers _2_ Stokes Valley _1_ Delaney 1;

Porirua City _2_ Brooklyn Pints _0_ Waihora (12.30);

North Wellington _0_ Karori Kittenz _7_ Newlands (12.30).

Thinkin Petone should win but it'll be a close one. Normal keeper is away and they will more than likely be over confident after the switch.

We're keeperless as well... have had to go on a recruitment drive.  He's filming a wedding FFS.

Put Max Factor in. He can dominate the box with his height, and has demonstrated at lunchtime footie that he's an awesome shotstopper.

That is quite possibly one of the funniest moments of the year.

We are known for leaking goals to, and also occasionaly helping the opposing strikers out, just so ya know they don't get a sore foot from scoring all those goals ;)

but we're getting better every week and hopefully we'll push you this weekend

Porirua City 2 BNU Pints 1. The boys are gutted. Robbed by an offside goal 2 minutes from time. Whats with Porirua playing in a black kit - I thought their club colour was red?

Nighthawkes 3 - 9 Oranje/Roma?

I take comfort from news saying i played this week. despite stupidly running through a pulled hammy and after a blow to the knee.

The pain in my knee helps me forget the pain in my thigh. So I'll be in tip top shape for U21's tomorrow morning.

Porirua City where black back in the late 60's early 70's. I no that they were playing in an ex tawa red strip in that grade for a while.

The lads went out and sorced their own funding and sponsorship for their strip. Don't know if they consulted club on colour. Not that their is much of a club just 4 teams that use the club name.

This sort of sh*t is really starting to cause problems. Clubs have colours for a reason. We played Wellington United and they turned up in a Argentina strip. Someone at Capital Football and the heiracy of the clubs needs to stop this happening before it gets even more out of hand.

He does have a point though.  I mean how are you meant to know if you need a change strip when you have no idea what colour the opposition will turn up wearing ?

Exactly. We turn up yesterday to find Porirua City wearing a black strip with white trim. Ours is a black strip with red trim so we just made do. Wasn't the ideal situation.

Hang on a sec - wasn't the ref wearing black too??  Now that's both interesting and confusing....  It's what I like to call "A conundrum".

Please.... ease back mate. No need for the nerd rage.

1) We - Wellington United - bring both strips (Oranj and Argies) to each game.

2) The boys (this is my first season) previously funded the strip on their own backs and it is a very quality strip good for away and/or colour clashing matches.

3) It's Cap16 ffs. Get your anal regulating arse out of our grade please.

PS: HN and team. Good match in the weekend, the scoreline looks a bit unfair really; was far from a white wash that that scoreline would suggest.

Unfortunatly you guys just happened to be on the tail end of our best half of the season, the boys really stepped up in the first half. Cheers

Yeah, I agree it was a great game. Good natured clash, and you guys were worthy winners. We're just pleased we could pull ourselves together for the second half.

Oh yeah and kudos to the guy that got that left-footed volley. What. The. Hell! :-)

After two second half comebacks in recent weeks we're thinking of playing a half hour game before our clash with the Uni Cycles this week so the first half will seem like the second.

You think Steve, Wilso and you have the legs and lungs for it?

Or will you need an ambulance to hang around in the actual second half?

Steve will easily, which is a concern for the rest of us...pretty sure he will have backed up yesterday for Trentham.

Mind you I'm hoping a couple of injuries come back and we'll have so many we can have offensive and defensive teams...

On an interesting note... and seeing as Capital Football don't have any results.

The Tawa lads beat the Naenae Hypocrites in their opening game in Capital 9.  The Hypocrites were unbeaten this season and I don't think they lost last season (their first).

Tawa won 1-0.

I see we are playing at "Velodrome" this weekend.  Silly question, but where is that?

I'm guessing it's the one in Hataitai??

nah we played bottom of the table North Wellington, who were surprisingly good.....we ended up running away with it 5-0 but game was entertaining enough for everyone bar myself who had the misfortune of being the keeper

Mr Jolly, yes it is Hataitai and I'm sorry.

How bad can it be?  We played at Ben Burn on Saturday and apart from the Gale whistling through, we had to skate across an artificial cricket pitch.

I swear it was the only reason the Uni-cycles just edged us [9-0 to them] :)

Haha. It was enthusiasm that did for you, I think; especially once we were 5-0 up and just forgot about defending for the last quarter hour.

Anyone know the results of the Stokes Valley clash and the game between Olympic and Nth Wgtn? trying to work out how woeful my picks were this week...

Ouch.

You'll like the Velodrome it's more our size of pitch, the gap between the edge of the area and the sideline is about 5 feet.  Just remeber that if it feels firm on the side by the entrance don't assume the side by the bank isn't a puddle.

I made that mistake in a Sunday league game there a couple of years back and did a groin.

The game between to the 2 stokes valley teams was on the field beside us. They told us the score in the dressing room after the game.
