it is indeed, that I know of. There may have been more instances.
As far as I know, a ref didn't turn up for Tawa B - University on match day #1.

1 All draw between Marist and Uni.

One stunning save a piece by each keeper to keep the game at 1 all. A good result for Marist considering they played the last 15 minutes with 10 men due to an injury after making their 3 subs.

Also Uni lucky not to be down to 10 men after one of their players nearly pulled the shirt off one of our players, in front of the ref who gave the free kick, but then bottled and didn't give the player his second yellow card!

Olympic __ Stop Out __ Wakefield 2 (2.30); 3-1
Marist __ Tawa A __ Kilbirnie (12.30); 1-1
University 1st XI _ Upper Hutt City __ POSTPONED;
Tawa B __ Uni Gossies __ Kura (2.30); 2-2

To start the ball rolling or so to speak. Predicting a fairly close round
Uni have started strongly I suppose the challenge for them is can they make it
last the whole season and not just the first couple of months.

Marist 3 Tawa A 1

Solid display by our boys. Weathered an early storm and then showed some real character to come back from a goal down early in the second half. We are chuffed with this win as it keeps us in touch with the top.

Tawa B 0 Uni Gossies 3

Uni Gossies seem a good solid side and deserved their win against us.  We were pretty frustrated with the ref who was terrible but we were well beaten so no excuse.  Thought we dominated at the start and the first goal was against the run of play but all went to crap from there.
Having now played both Uni sides i'd say they both seem about as good as each other.  Could be a good game when they both meet.

Stop Out 0 Marist 2.  Good competitive game on a cracking surface at Hutt Park. Stop Out weren't happy with the offside flag not going up for our goals, in particular our second one, but you win some you lose some (esp without linesmen). Happy with how things are coming together for our lads. Getting better week by week and feel we can still develop further in the coming weeks. Great we switched on early this week, as in previous weeks we have taken some time to get into the game.

Two draws for the Uni sides this week has opening up the ladder now, so we are happy to be 3 points off Gossies now!

Cheers Stop Out and all the best for the rest of the season. Great atmosphere at the clubrooms afterwards also!

shouldn't have been a draw yesterday - tawa all over them. but credit to them they went up against the run off play and then came back when they were 2-1 down.

not a bad side anyhow... wont win the league though

Im picking one of the Uni teams and Marist to push for places in Cap 1 next season. Ive seen a few teams in Cap2 and so far i dont think anyone else will be able to compete at Cap1.

that's actually not a silly thing to say. I think the level of the league is not as high as last year. Of course I am very pleased with the club's results so far, but last year it was a tougher affair.

The issue, to me, is not whether any of the Cap 2 teams may or may not compete in Cap 1, but is that the relegated teams from Cap 1 will stack teams, as they always do, with players from further up than Cap1! and will stay up, thus denying the best teams from Cap 2 to even have a chance to make it.

a.        Win the grade and you wont have a problem

b.       Island Bay will come down either through losing Cap 1 or losing Prem

c.        BNU will be last or second last and they are a first team

d.       Move to a big club.

Having played both Cap 1 and Cap 2 there is very little difference in the leagues except for the top couple of teams in Cap 1. If you finish top of Cap 2 or win the promo match you deffinatley deserve promotion

I also played both divisions but I think last year was tougher, not that I'm complaining. Unless you finish 1st, you won't win the promo match, cause the other team will stack. That's how we ended up in cap2 in the first place.

actually, we ended up in cap 2 by having a woeful season AND by losing the play out match vs IBU who were stacked.

Greenie, re: your last point...mine is the biggest, bestest club anyway!

Ive played 20mins this season due to injury, and only because we were short on the bench one week. Otherwise im not yet playing, and only training every other week when im not limping...

Otherwise Id be in Cap1.

lets be honest if island bay hadn't stacked their team in the play-off game v tawa last year... then tawa would be in cap1.. and would not look out of place - island bay havn't picked up a point ffs...

neither would university maybe even marist.

there are some good teams and players in cap2 that are well good enough to play in cap1.

think theres a bit of sarcasim there - gary is a class above geoff - im hoping geoff is graceful enough to accept that.

but realstically the 2nds should be beating the 3rds.. somethings wrong if they don't.

Question.

Last game of the season - 2nds playing 3rds.... 2nds need to win to get promoted.. 3rds are safe playing for nothing... what do you do?

The 3rds would throw the game. Not something that a club would like to admit to but i think any club would do it if put in that situation. Or you could decide after the result whos who.

In theory yes the 2nds should be beating us when you look at their players, but looking at results it should be a tight game. From what I hear the 2nds are currently losing 2-1 to Stop Out and we beat Olympic 3 nil today. Not very good for the 2nds and a good result for us so game on! We are only getting better each week.

Hopefully it doesn't come down to that but if it did I wouldn't be so sure that the game would be thrown. I know a number of players (myself included) that would not want to do such a thing, I'd rather not play that week.

Anyway for such a scenario to happen a) we would have to play each other in the last game or two in the season, b) The 2nds would actually have to be in with a chance of promotion and c) The 3rds would have to have nothing to play for.
