yeah I know. but there's only so much a man (or 11 men) can take. It'll help our first team harden up for Cap 1 don't you worry.
Not if they don't get promoted. I thought a club's 2nd team was supposed to be a support team for the 1sts.
of course I know that but we're focussing on the positives here. The problem with having the reserve team in the first team's league is that sometimes you can't help but having some healthy competition. At the end of the day, the first team (and everyone else) only caught up with the Gossies just before the end of the first round of games, and that in itself was a bit of a pickle.
Also, I think the club will need to look at how both teams are run and make some decisions in regards to the coaches' responsibilities and expectations.
To be honest at the end of the game we (Gossies) sort of looked at each other and said: "and now what?!". But we just couldn't face another loss and I don't recall any Uni team ever taking the field without giving 110%. So, as much as this might have hurt our first team, we are proud of our reserves for winning the game.
Another positive is that, should University come second (which now depends mostly on them), they should face BNU who, for once, won't be able to drop players - which gives us a chance.
Unlike other teams who in the past have STACKED, let's call it what it is, their cap 2 or cap 1 teams to win their play off or play out games respectively. Talk about being fair.
