Totally agree, i mean how can you get hammered in every game in the first round, then start getting results now!!... but they want to stay in this division.. so they have dropped 9 first team players! 3 each week over the last 3 weeks! feel sorry for the boys that have been there week in week out trying their hardest! to get chucked out now!

Oh well 2 tough games for us coming up, Playing Marist first team on Saturday and Stop Out Central League team on Sunday!

Marist have a huge first team game on after so doubt it

Great game on Sat Nakisponge and Reg22, was perhaps our most fullon game of the year, was played at Premier/close to Central League intensity I thought. Really enjoyed it! The header from your striker was on the line when Silent Assassin cleared it...we are calling him John Terry now! Pity the pitch wasn't a bit better as the game would have improved if it had been, the guy/guys on your side doing the surging runs from midfield would have been even more dangerous with a true bounce. Can't believe how awesome your keepers save off our free kick was! Thought it was in for all money!Yeah thought we were a bit too abusive towards the ref, bleating at him doesn't help, still hard to be rational in the middle of a frantic game! Good luck to you guys as well.

Blocker, as I am the assistant coach for Marist, I am categorically assuring you the Marist team you play on Sat will not have any players dropped from our first team. Aside from Feverish's post (which is bang-on) we haven't and wouldn't do that.

All we can hope for is for IBU/Wharfies to slip up this weekend...

Hey guys, com on! i'm not calling anyone cheats, all i'm saying is that teams are taking advantage of the rules? that's all, which is totally understandable when you have the second team in this division... but what about next year? do you think it will change? probably not?

If we were in the same situation would we drop players..... probably yes! but if we got hammered every game in the first round... then probably not, we would realise that we we not good enough for this grade and go down.

In fact we were talking about asking Capital Soccer if we could drop down a grade anyway as most of us 'older guys' (and we have 8 players over 40!) are finding it a bit tough. Don't get me wrong, we enjoy the game we play, but we think Cap 3 is a bit more of a leveller for us.

So if you see in the results on Sat and Sun that we got hammered by Marist and Stop Out you will know why!!..

We just hope Upper Hutt and Miramar get a result!

Good luck for the last weekends games, hope you all enjoy it!! and all have a safe and happy summer!! See you at the Masters tournaments in Wellington and Wanganui (if ya old enough!!)

Couldl be lots of 1ST team players in certain teams this week throughout the grade,[ Upper Hutt, Tawa,Olympic,Miramar,Stop Out and Island Bay ]COULD DROP PLAYERS DOWN  - probably a few surprize results coming up .

I wouldn't be surprised if our Tawa team has a couple of '1st teamers' for Sundays game against the dreamers.  The main problem being that we have used a number of Tawa College players this season but they are unavailable this weekend as heading to Tournament.  We also have a number of other players who are unable to play on Sunday.

Ideally we will put a side out using as many of our usual players as possible - why would we stack a side if we didn't have to when all we will gain is 4th place instead of 5th?

(and just quietly we would prefer that the Dreamers finished above Island Bay)

And so...the last great battle of our times has come...

Bit melodramatic, but a huge weekend of football for Cap 2 is before us, just wanted to wish good luck to all teams, and whatever the final placings it's been a close run and very enjoyable league this year. Cheers!

Well said Hubminator. Has been a truly exciting league this season. Island Bay United, Marist and Waterside Karori have all proven themselves worthy of playing in Capital 1. Let's hope for good weather this weekend.

Agree as well!! enjoyed it, but found it a bit tough (due to my old age!!) ,also agree that some of the team in this division can hold their own in Cap 1. I would be happy to drop down to Cap 3. But after Stop Out stacked their team against us last year to get promotion (not going to go into it, but there were at least 6 first team players playing!! and they beat us 5-0!) wait for the rematch on sunday!
Nothing would make me more happier for us to send them back down to Cap 3.. So may see you all next season, Who knows! but thanks for some exciting games! and some poor defending to allow me to score my goals!@! LOL

yeah it would appear there has been a bit of gap in capital 2 between the top three teams and the rest. I can only really see the bay and the dreamers in the top two, probably the bay playing against varsity for that promotion spot and I think they'll beat them easily. Island Bay deserves and needs a team in Capital 1 with so many good up and coming players they need to be challenged more regularly

Blocker mate you do talk a lot of crap.
if you are saying Stop Out dropped 6 first team player last year to play you.
Let get fact straight you put in a protest claiming Stop Out broke the rules by playing to many 1st team players.
Fact Capital Soccer rejected your protest because Stop Out didn't break the rules.
End of Story

Hope you beat Stop out as well, as we are playing Waterside on Sat and then Island Bay on the Sunday.  We are going to need all the help we can get to stay up.

You don't need photgraphic evidence mate. You just need to do your research 1st before submitting protest with no basis.
I know for a fact that only two 1st team player we're regraded for that game.
One was an English left winger and the other was a local boy.
So infact Stop Out if they had wished could have regraded one more player but didn't do so. So don't blame a club for using the rules to their advantage . Blame the rules that allow them to do so.
Plus it's a quite strange you blaming Stop Out for doing this when Olympic have been regrading Central League players to their Capital 1 side . So they to are taking advantage of the rules.

OK, if ya say so! LOL

Anyway.. good luck Sunday and may the best team win!. We dropped palyers within the rules, just like other teams (see further up these posts) but all within the rules.

Didn't say that Olympic broke the rules.

But don't accuse other clubs of breaking the rules when they clearly didn't.
If you are so sure then name the player .
Oh wait you did and it got rejected by Capital football.

Stop Out-1 Island Bay United-2.

I don't know where to begin on this match...

that makes two of us. it was bloody hard defending in the second half as we keep getting players sent off. Though we may have held for a draw. Reggie kept us in making some excellent  saves. Going to be hard work tommorrow against the greeks we now need to find three extra players.

Yep it'll be hard work for you guys if they play the Olympic side we played against today...

As it turns out it doesn't matter a damn bit as our 1sts got beat 4-1 by a stacked Lower Hutt side, but FFS Olympic dropped at least 3 central league guys to Cap 2 today, and therefore we got spanked 5-3. 3-0 down at half time, we managed to get back to 3-3 before the greeks scored two to seal the deal. Doesn't matter one way or the other for us now in terms of league standings, and plenty of other people have said there 2 cents worth about it being legal as per cap football regualtions, but it ain't in the spirit of the game or fairplay I reckon. Our boys have trained frickin hard this season and have played football to make us and the club pretty happy, and we get snotted by a stacked team in the second to last game...why? Where was Olympic going to finish? At least we have the moral high ground by never having dropped players in the last few seasons, for all the f%$king good it did us. Great advertsiment for the club...come to Marist AFC and get shafted by other clubs who haven't got the balls to play their regular squads season start to season end.

Rant over, congrats to IBU and Wharfies (whoever finishes first) shame a great season has to end on a sour note for us but that's life.

At least you got to play!  Bloody Brooklyn decided this morning that they couldn't be stuffed travelling out to Redwood Park so defaulted.  Got a text at 10 this morning, just as was getting ready for the game.  Very frustrating, finally having a nice fine saturday, perfect conditions, and they can't get a team together for cap 2, despite having Cap 4 and cap 6 teams playing.  Disgraceful.  Good riddance Brooklyn.  Enjoy Capital 3.  Don't come back.

Not suprising there were that many red cards given the ref though- that guy has got about as much common sense, authority and competence as the one we had. I do like that quote about the spirit of fair play from Hubminator above -  FIFA and the authorities bang on about it but the only time it gets used is when refs try to hide behind it when justifying a decision. Otherwise clubs cheerfully ignore it - case in point -  Olympic dropping 3 1st teamers to Cap 2. In the meantime they send a second rate team over to Miramar to play what is usually a prestigious CL game and get a deserved 5 1 spanking. Could rant a whole lot more but better zip it and strap myself in for the nix in half an hour. C'MON ye Nix!

Guys, its the benefit of having a 'club'. Our Cap 2 side still could have been relegated if results didnt go our way so we needed to win one of the games this weekend. Secondly, we are also trying to develop young players within. We have a team for the U19 to think about and its about getting these players up to scratch ready for it. Thats why we sent a young side to play CL against Miramar. As to the game against Marist yesterday, its the first time we have used a 'couple' of players, who i must say were eligible to play. All thes teams in this division have done it, IB, BNU, TAWA, SO, Miramar.. in fact i went and played CL after the Marist game and there were 2 guys from Miramar that played us earlier in the year in the team.

So whatever people say, there are rules in place at CS, everyone has obliged by them.. no-one has broken any rules.. anyway, this is Capital 2 for heavens sake! its a mile away from CL and Champs, and to be honest, im nearly 40 now, and played in lots of divisions here and overseas and i can say that from my heart that if Cap 2 is where clubs have their first and second teams.. there is alot wrong with the quality of soccer in NZ.. I mean if we and Dreamers can field a team each week where our average age is close to 40, then really we should be playing masters not holding our own against 18-25 yr olds!

One last note, i didnt realise how skillful Brockie was until yesterday playing on the same park as him.. he is lightening! and has the skill as well and a quality finish! he is wasted playing CL!

Have a great summer and see you all after the Wellington masters, Wanganui Masters and New Zealand masters!!

Enjoy your summer!

What a tough weekend that was with the Dreamers on Saturday and Island Bay today.  Well done to both sides who played excellent football and played the games in good spirit.  Cap 3 for us next year which is a shame as we had a lot of young players this year and they have improved a great deal as the year as progressed.  Hopefully will be back up the following season.
