Game of two halves for us, 2-0 up at half-time and then forgot to turn up for the second half. One of these days we'll put together a 90 minute performance.

i played in this game for terrace- United butchered many chances but probably deserved the win, after holding on at 1-0 for 89 minutes. Terrace have some really solid defenders, great in the air.

The ref was probably the difference-pedantic calls in some areas, but most alarmingly he "stopped the clock" (yes, he told us he was doing it) every time the ball went past about 1 metre from the sideline- this is a disturbing trend from thugby- either you caution a player for timewasting, or you play on- its that simple. Apparantly he was a 'qualified but retired ref' too.
he won a point for Petone.

I should be fair though, petone were tough but lacked pace, and reffing is a sh*t job at the best of times, but..........stopping the clock? over it.

Are you serious about Olympic?  I wonder if they might've had ring ins from a higher grade that played the day before, because we played them the week before and they were RUBBISH!

Or maybe you guys just aren't that good ;)

They certainly didn't look like a team that had been beaten by 9 the week before although we really weren't that good for the first 30ish minutes in the second half! Don't know about that coach of theirs though.

We did play like rubbish for large portions, although they had a centre mid and centre back who where real good (not in keeping with the rest of the team), and two or three quick strikers one who is a strong candidate for NOT wearing orange boots (plus skins...) also had about 6+ bench players

I was definately sceptical, but hey still got the three points after a poor performance

Yeah, their coach is an absolute shocker!!

I guess they had a few alright players, but as a team they were awful when we played them.  Shut down the centre mid, pressure their strikers and actually finish your opportunities (which we are usually terrible at) and you're away really.

There seems to be a bit of fluctuation in the grade though, we really struggled against Terrace (but won 1 nil)  and they were beat 5-1 by the Dreamers who we played in the weekend and weren't much chop.

Marist Inter looked good in our first game though, probably favourites for the grade after finishing 3rd last year.  Though I am yet to see these newby Karori teams or Stop Out...

Yeah you got that right about the coach, an absolute shocker.

We really should have done better against Olympic, but a win is still a win so we'll take it. We could have finished a few more chances, but it's done now and hopefully we'll give them the thrashing everyone else thinks they deserve next time (and then we can move away from Marist a bit on goal differential, it's a bit close for comfort now).

But more importantly, looking forward to getting the rivalry going with Stop Out again! Bloody stoked that they moved up so we have another chance to crack them, but it'll be a tough game no doubt.  I'm just going to predict a win for the Sealords. We had our first win at Ben Burn Park a few weeks ago, so we've got no problems playing there (apart from the fact that it's a ridiculous pitch for the ball going onto the road). Bring it on...

stink thing about that is a lot of those players, have probably played and enjoyed football for years.
after being coached like that, who'd want to continue playing.
there all pretty young and could do with guidance and motivation, sure you can rip the sh*t out of them for doing something wrong but you need to tell them why your ripping them and then how to go about not doing it again.

when we played them they were warming up doing set piece corners and the coach started up "i'm not happy with the corners efen  blah blah " but never said  why or what was needed to fix it.
that's not helpful that demoralising.

Tough game to swallow for us on the weekend. Pretty even contest with Wgtn Utd Elite and a draw was probably a fair result which unfortunately we sat back and waited for, allowing them to score the winner with the last kick of the game!

A little disappointed they scored their equaliser from a "drop ball" on the edge of the box for a man going down off the ball when we had previously been in possesion. We were under the impression the general edicate is to give the ball back to the team in possession but hey anything will do to have a whinge about when ya lose.................

Amped up for the clash of the round with Sealords this week, have you guys got rid of that artificial cricket wicket running through the middle of Benburn yet? Should be a cracker of a game, early season form suggests Sealords are probably paying about $1.50 for the win but we will thrive on our underdog status!!!

Yeah I bet both Sealords and Stop Out are equally amped. wish this weather would move on otherwise we'll be lucky to get a game in.

The artificial pitch is probably still there. it was 2 weeks ago when we last played. didn't really affect us as our passing from the backs to the midfield was class, so nobody had to run over it. could be a different story this weekend.

$1.50 you say. Then I'll put a gorilla on the table!

It just doesn't seem to make any sense. It's like they picked which divisions would be cancelled by picking them out of a hat. Oh well, always next week.
We were going to be playing at Benburn park. It's got a cricket pitch in the midlle of it...the pitch is already ruined haha.

Well, I didn't, but that's mainly because my life has turned into a Brazilian soap-opera at the moment.
But I'm definitely looking forward to playing after last week's cancellation.

A quality grinding win for the Stallions over the Magpies.  After being up 1 nil late in the first half we let the Magpies back in with a goal with about 15 to go.  But after a swift counter attack resulting in a corner, the perfect delivery was met with a towering header for the decisive goal.

Good to see Inter and Sealords draw to keep it all close at the top, now on to Stop Out for us.  Hopefully we can extend our 4 game winning streak...

yep Sealords blew a few good goal scoring chances in the weekend and we drew 1-1 with Marist. But full credit to Marist, they are a good side and we were a bit overwhelmed by the occasion in the first half, we played a very good 2nd half but couldn't finish our chances. They're a team of really good guys too, so that also helped us not to feel too gutted. They were also pretty unlucky not to score a few more, our goalie was outstanding. we voted him man of the match. our defense scrapped all day as well, so pretty proud of them. can't wait til next time tho, it was our away game to them then, so if we have them at home next time I reckon we'll rise to the occasion.

Stop Out and Uni Stallions lurking dangerously in our future... Will be huge games against them when we take them on, though next up is Petone.

Not sure who I want to support out of Stop Out and Uni. If Stop Out won then we could get some more breathing space at top of the table with Marist, but being a Sealord and supporting Stop Out just feels wrong (no offense Stop Out). I'd be happy to see a draw... If anyone can beat Marist then I'll be ecstatic.

We were awful, and yet didn't deserve to lose.

At the rate we're going, I'm sure Olympic will be very happy to be playing us next week.

Cheers. My first act of the game was to head-butt their right-winger in the back of the head. Although in my defence, I was trying to win the header, he just jumped a bit higher than me.

Bit worried now that my forehead's gonna bruise and ruin my dashing looks.

Thanks G.

Was a hard fought game with you boys and thought the scoreline was a bit rough on us although full credit to the team that takes their chances! Your keeper is an absolute legend I must say, is he like that every week or was that a oneoff??? A couple of his saves were Gordon Banks like, not to mention the time he came flying out for a cross he was never entitled to take and casually stuck one arm out under pressure and somehow the ball stuck!

Was a game played in good spirit though and look forward to playing you guys out in the hutt later in the season.

Glad to see the Sealords dropped points   looks like Marist are getting away at the top so could be a scrap for 2nd for the rest of us.........

PS . Whats with the state of nairnville park? Absolute bog despite hardly any rain throughout the week

I would hardly say Marist are getting away, they are only one point ahead of us!

Yep our keeper had an absolute blinder and I don't think he'd disagree with us saying he is not usually that amazing, and in fact is not even our usual keeper.  We lost our keeper 30 seconds from kick off in the first game to a dislocated shoulder!
He has really stepped up though and if he can keep like yesterday for the rest of the season we will definitely be hard to beat.

We were defnitely off our game yesterday, especially me at the back so we're just happy to claim points while not playing our best.

Another testing game for us next week against Elite

Agreed. They're only 3 points ahead of us as well. Not exactly a huge gap. We've been off form the last three games particularly our goal scoring form although we are also leaking a few goals at the back.

We were asleep for the first half of the game against the dreamers who played some pretty good football. Turned it around at half time and played a lot better but our final ball into the box was pretty terrible from open play and we gave away far too much possesion. Need to a get a win this weekend (which wont be easy looking at the scoreline in the terrace's game against marist) at the fortress that is Karori park to get the confidence back and set up a massive clash against the stallions.

Drew 1-1 with Marist. We were up 1 nil at the half and should have had the game in the bag by then but for some poor finishing. Marist scored right at the start of the 2nd half and then had a spell of dominance. Both sides had chances to win it towards the end but a draw was probably a fair result.

Apologies to Uni and Sealords for my comments last week about Marist getting away, should have a closer look at the points table before I said that   Marist are a good side but certainly beatable and at this point its anyone's title!
