No, was in great condition, ref talked to caches 3 times before calling off about his concerns about hypothermia, then a downpour just before kicik off when ref went out to warm up, he said he couldnt see into the rain/wind talked to U/hutt and then called it off.

Yeah thought Fraser may have been alright as most pitches were yesterday.

That's extremely soft calling it off due to it being cold. It was cold but definitely playable. And the ref couldn't see into the rain/wind??!! Again sounds soft to me. Should have played without the ref.

We played a Div 10 game yesterday at 12.30pm at Fraser. Park in great nick. We played in the worst of the weather - 140km/h gusts, almost constant hail throughout the match. No one got hypothermia and both teams made do with what were very trying conditions. - e.g a goal kick aimed at the centre circle ends up being blown out on the full and then being blown beyond the next field, and one of our blokes tried to clear the ball into the teeth of the wind and ended up playing a one-two to himself. A Capital 3 game after us was called off by the ref without a ball being kicked and we were all convinced conditions had improved! While we had player refs sometimes these official refs are just soft.
Mind you, yesterday's conditions were almost the worst I've played in, although playing in snow in the UK is still right up there.

It wasnt the Ref who called the game off.  Upper Hutt was out on the field doing there final warm up with 10 minutes to go before kick off.  Lower Hutt hadn't been seen sincethey put the nets up.  The Ref come to us and told us that they didnt want to play and if we agreed then it will be called off.  At that stage the hail was coming in sideway.  And the weather report was for the wind gust to get stronger.  So it was agreed not to play the game.  Not much of a game could be played when the game before us was kicking the ball in the middle of the park and it was going out on the full. And afterall it is just capital three, And players dont want to get sick from the cold when they all have jobs to go to on the Monday.

Always get good stories when when this sort of thing happens.  Upper Hutt say it wasnt the ref who called it and Lower Hutt says it was?

Thats very interesting Spurs, the  lower hutt lads were warming up on their indoor artificial surface when the ref just came inside and said to their coach that the game was off, The lower hutt coach never told the ref to call it off. there was still 5mins to go before K.O when the ref came in and announced it. It is all a bit bemusing, ohh well it gets played on monday (weather and ref permitting)

Thats why we hadnt seen them then.  Very fnuny with the ref then we he told us that the lower hutt guys had already agreed.  Semms it was his decision not to play then.

Haha Refs need to harden up.

Actually on that point is there any reason that the refs/lino's dont dress better for the conditions?

Picks for the coming weekend - Upper Hutt may have their work cut out for them as neither the Lower Hutt 1st or 2nd team are playing on Monday.  Perhaps they should have just played in the cold....  Tawa to lead by 8 points at the halfway point of the season with Upper Hutt and Kapiti battling for second.

Wairarapa      2     Lower Hutt       1
Upper Hutt     1     Kapiti Coast      1
Waikanae        2    Brooklyn           1
Island Bay       2    N. Wellington    1
Karori              1    Tawa                 3

Monday (Queens Birthday)

Lower Hutt     3     Upper Hutt        1

huttboy, you are dreaming! Tawa has NO chance against the might of the COUUUGGAARRRSS.
We drew with those lads in pre season and didnt see anything special about the team. Its going to be a DING dong battle out on Ben Burn at 2.30, I recommend anyone who has nothing to do to turn up.

You may want to come watch some real football huttboy.. I hope I can expect you to be there at the game....

The pre season was only played on a 3/4 pitch (you could have scored from a goal kick)
and it was pre season - why would we want to humilate you before the season has started :-)

Hutt boy has got it a bit wrong..
Wairarapa 3   lower hutt 0
Karori 0     Tawa 3

and yeah lower hutt to win on monday..

Again it was pre season. Think how unfit those old fellas were when they played there first or second pre season game against you. Now they are training 3 times a week, having weight trainings and pool sessions to stay in good conditions. I think they should definately dominate again. They haven't won 8 games from 8 for no reason. Most points out of any of the grades with 24 points. Bloody quality.

Where are all these props for LH coming from?! They are by far the worst team in the grade. And their 'keeper is a maniac - spent most of our game against them swearing at the ref.

Tawa training 3x a week, weight training and pool sessions? That's a bit intense isn't it? Unless of course by weight training and pool sessions you mean Wednesday nights at the pub drinking pints and shooting pool...

If you saw the earlier comment by huttboy he/she is referring to the fact that the Lower Hutt 1st and 2nd teams do not have a game and could possibly bring a few good players to come down and play for the 3rds. If this was to happen could be enough to get a result over Upper Hutt

Ah yes i had missed that. Ok that might give LH a decent chance then. That's their only chance though.

As tempting as the offer sounds, I'm not sure if I'll be able to watch that encounter.

Given the geriatric Tawa side have more points after 8 games than Karori will get all season, the result seems a foregone conclusion.  Now, Upper Hutt  versus Kapiti will be a good battle that could go either way!

The is a more than even chance they will drop players. I played against them last year and they were crap and suddenly with 4 games to go they started beating everyone - the game we played against them second round they subbed first team players on at half time - they were crap all season and only stayed up cause they stacked there team - then the ancient ones got shafted down to cap 4 - only a Lower Hutt!!

If I was Upper Hutt I would be looking at there team card pretty closley

Since  so many of their 1sts and seconds were chequebook converts from Upper Hutt, it will be pretty obvious

Well Lower Hutt were only just behind the rapa before today's games. As shown by the tables, this league is reasonably close with most games being won by a 1 or 2 or possibly 3 goal margin.

This is clearly shown through Tawa's results this season. Only 1 of 2 teams in cap football to have won 9 from 9 and on that fact you would expect us to be winning by some big margins at times. But we haven't won a game by more than 2 goals. Today's game with Karori was another tough battle like most games this season have been. 1st half was pretty even overall and Karori could have been up at half time.   We had more chances 2nd half than Karori did. Karori definitely turned up to play and were battling hard the whole game.Oranje2009-05-30 19:32:29

hey - whos making the comments about me in a wheelchair!!! - i was flying home after our win today!!!
pretty easy against karori and i got man of the match!!! yeah.. free beer!!!

at least the beer numbs all the aches and pains.. takes me a week to recover...

But actually... i thought the karori game was our hardest.. they were eager to win and it was just our great team effort that stopped them.. and the extra goal.. hahahah

yeah go tawa... 9 from 9.

That definately wasnt the case, in fact they bought up 2 players from a lower team for todays game.

Cheers mate.  It's gotta be fun otherwise what's the point?  And the banter is all part-and-parcel of it.

On the other hand, your wheelchair prediction may well come true.  This is the sorest I've felt after any game so far this season.  Those Karori boys really got stuck into us!
