come on nightz, that's enough of that, only half the season gone - the wheel chairs will be coming out soon for oldbastard and neilwgtn then rest of us are ganna catch up :))

I think there's still a bit of life in the old dogs yet...

I like your sense of humour - all in good fun

Cheers mate.  It's gotta be fun otherwise what's the point?  And the banter is all part-and-parcel of it.

On the other hand, your wheelchair prediction may well come true.  This is the sorest I've felt after any game so far this season.  Those Karori boys really got stuck into us!
Does that mean your gonna make me work even harder???

Not me I play masters for Petone.

Lower Hutt dominated the first half but were only up 1 0 at the break. The 2nd half was more even and Upper Hutt equalised about 20mins in (I think, It was to cold to look at my watch). Lower Hutt snatched the pionts with about 10 to go with a deflected shot that snuck just insde the post. For those wondering no one that played for Lower Hutt 1st on Saturday played today.

I missed the game but it does seem funny that the bottom of the league can beat one of the front runners.
Was there any 2nd team players there?

A great result for the mighty Lower Hutt!!  It may well be that Upper Hutt don't have what it takes to win the league despite earlier claims.  It appears that Tawa are unstoppable if the seasons form so far is anything to go by.  While they haven't won by large margins, they seem to have "the top two inches."  That said they still have to play an unbeaten Kapiti side twice and the Upper Hutt "has beens" once.  It seems that either of these sides will be battling for second, it is only the half way point but an 8 point lead will be hard to pull in.

On the whole, this league appears to be relatively tight, with most teams able to salvage at least a point from most games.  By all accounts Karori pushed Tawa on Saturday, and Lower Hutt turned over Upper Hutt - big result!!

Will see how the second half plays out but any thoughts on what the TAB would offer on Tawa to win the league unbeaten?  Less than $2??

Tawa are just playing with you. They do just enough to win and that is all. With all those geriatric patients there they want to save themselves for the end of the seasonKezzah012009-06-02 08:51:55

Well, i predicted an almighty tustle between the mighty Cougars and unbeaten Tawa, and an almighty tustle it turned out to be.
Great first half from the lads, deserved to go into the half up, but it was even stevens at 1 all. Tawa started to dominate in the 2nd half, helped in no small part by being able to bring on two 6" plus strikers. They are a dangerous team from set plays and eventually got one of their big men behind the Karori defence to knock in the winner.
Definitely one of the better performances from the Cougars, especially with a few away, pretty frustrating to not get anything out of it.
Looking like a pretty tight league at the moment, but i definitely don't think Tawa are unbeatable. Huge game for us against the Rapa this weekend back at Ben Burn, nothing less than a win will be good enough. Will be interesting to see how they travel.

On another note, how the hell did LH beat UH?! They could barely play their way out of a paper bag when we played them, and yet they back up on a Monday and knock over one of the top teams?! Seems a bit fishy to me...

make sure you bring some hot water if your playing at benBurn this week!!!
Bit disappointing not to have any showers available..
I'm sure the rapa boys wont want to travel over the hill all smelly / muddy / wet and cold..

thanks to the cougars for the game - well played .. good spirts and a thoroughly enjoyable game.
you should be higher on the table. (if only you could score more goals!!) :-)

Seems to be a re-occurring theme - Tawa are not unbeatable but we will leave to next weeks opposition

Last week done and dusted - here are my picks - Upper Hutt to bounce back - North Wellington the quiet achievers - sorry Cougars got you guys going down to rapa
CAPITAL 3:
Kapiti Coast United  1    North Wellington     1    Weka 1 (12.30);

Picks for the next round:

Kapiti's defensive record will see them through against North Wellington, but this could be a battle.  Lower Hutt will be without some of their "better players" this week with their first and second teams playing and will struggle against a Brooklyn side  bouyed by a good win last week.  Tawa should continue their winning ways against Waikanae, although every team has their day, so they shouldn't take this lightly despite Waikanae's results to date.  Island Bay to push Upper Hutt after their poor return of 1 point from 2 games at Queen's Birthday and the Cougars (what sort of grown man names his football team after a big cat?) to turn over the Rapa after an encouraging effort last week against the probable Champs!!

Kapiti Coast      2   North Wellington      1
Lower Hutt       1    Brooklyn                  2
Tawa                2    Waikanae                0
Island Bay        2    Upper Hutt              2
Karori               2    Wairarapa               1

Looking forward to returning to cap three action this week. Going to be a tough match up for us, beat Karori last time but we have struggled since then and they seem to be on the rise. Could depend on what sort of squad we can put together, have been missing a couple of players each week for the past few weeks so would be nice if we could put a close to full strength side together and get a win.

Tawa lost 4-1 to Waikanae.

Fromthe sideline it looked like Tawa were already celebrating winning the league, and hence were battling.

We were poor, they wanted it more than we did.  We were a little unlucky at times, but never deserved anything from the game. Nuff said.  Pretty disappointing really.  I guess it's how we respond next week that will be an indicator of our mettle.

That Waikanae/Tawa result is certainly a shock.  Their winning run had to come to an end at some point, but to concede 4 is unbelievable!!  It should bring them down to earth a bit, but great result for Waikanae!!

How will Tawa go this week against the only unbeaten team in the league, Kapiti?  If they don't play any better than oldbastard and Sir Les have suggested they played o Saturday it could be another hiding.

The Tawa run is over - good to see - well done Waikanae.

Couple of things - well done to the Tawa boys on that run of results - not many teams in other grades could match that - second thing - when you lose - you certainly lose big!!

Capital 3 is back in business - no one horse pony now!!

Kapiti have to beat Tawa to stay in the hunt. A draw is a good result for Tawa.

I personaly think the loss is a good wake up call for the boys. I expect a 3-1 win this weekend. They will probably have their goalscorin midfielder back as well

But wins for Kapiti and Upper Hutt pulls it back to 2 points and then anything can happen.

I'm told that four were recognised from Monday v thirds on Sat against our seconds.  I'm sure they won't appear on the third game card though, LH are too fly for that.Mr Blobby2009-06-10 16:40:14

Look, lets have this out, For your information L/Hutt were able to have 6 yes thats right 6 regraded players when they were supposed to play U/hutt the first time, Then they were able to only have 3 regraded players for the rescheduled game. L/hutt played within the rules and there coach was mindfull of these rules. please feel free to name these so called "'four'that you speak of or just drop it. If U/hutt had an issue with the L/hutt team card/regraded players they should have brought it to the coaches attention and im sure he would have gladly given U/hutt the info right then and there. Dont u think L/hutt would make sure they are within the rules after what people were saying on here!!!!

Mr Blobby could be right Sweepa. There could have been 4 that played their 1st last Sat that had played against their 2nds the previous week. Lower Hutts 2nds got spanked the week before and also had injuries so some players were promoted from the 3rds to the 2nds were they not? Maybe Mr Blobby doesnt think players should get promoted up the grades if they are doing well!

so once you go up, you are part of new team untill you go back down. when you go back down you and 2 others from THAT team are allowed to be regraded in one week. so the way i understand it if 4 came down from 1 team thats CHEATING! unless 1 came from another higher team which in my interpretation of regulations is ok. so are you cheating?
