Hmm walk in the park you say? More like a stroll in hell. 2-2, 2 red cards, some debatably calls and the ref had no control of the game. For me the most embarrassing part was one of the little's after the match, walking up to the greek supporters and saying, 'you dirty f**king greeks.'

After being ripped on this forum for the greeks opening their mouths and saying sh*t, this is crap. Fair enough we talk sh*t, happy to recieve it but i guarentee someone will complain about somthing we said, and before you do, keep that in mind.

[QUOTE=Feverish] make sure theres some flares at the game. And i dont mean Dave Hooleys trousers

Flares were there and from my view was awesome! BUT, some sour miramar supporter rung the cops and they came and gave us a telling off. Bastards.

And the two goals miramar scored were dubious. Peno and free kick when the ref had our players attention.

Good game, thoroughly enjoyed it.uncle steve2009-04-18 16:48:37

both were close. the bubbles up 2 nil at half time, and then finished 2 all, and yes the boys were unlucky to end with 9 men.
greenie you would have beens so proud of the flare!it was classic, never seen it befor but it certianly added to the on field fireworks, bout 15 people (both teams got booked)

we were horriably unlucky not to get all 3 points but that is football.

any other scores? herd wests drew 1 all with parky's religation faviorits at newtown.

Very disspointing result considering we were 2-0 up.

I would have to say the most disspointing aspect was not so much the referee sending two of our players off, but for the general decisions he made.

The very very soft penalty and ridiculous free kick was a shocker, he was talking to the olympic players when the free kick was taken.

He had absolutely no control of the game (Not only my opinion, but also many miramar fans).

As Steve said many of the older greeks that came out of there retirement homes were extremely upset with Littles comments.

In the end it was an extremely entertaining Saturday afternoon!

Any neutral perspectives in relation to the game?

it sure was a cracker of a game in terms of excitment but as per usual i think it was ruined by the reff. im not saying/complaining about him being bias. i just thought he lost control of the game very early and far to easily.

the lino was his typical busy self, getting involved with every thing he could, their is a reason you have a flag and not a wistle...

Wellington 'Going nowhere but up the ladder' United 1 - 1 Western Suburbia.

Whether Wests had a shocker or they were just plain average. How do you spell LONG BALL? Scoring in the last 10mins to tie it up. Only sustained pressure came in the last 15. Not to say United dominated at all but gees those boys work hard for each other. Cracker of a goal as well!

Re-evaluate your opinions on United.

In my opinion, Wellington United played very well up until Western Suburbs' equaliser. Western Suburbs goal came about due to Wellington United hiring Mickey Mouse as their defensive coach, god awful to watch 3 players in succession diving in and missing tackles. A well taken goal though. What is rather worrying for those involved with United is the extent to which Western Suburbs did dominate the game after equalising. I thought Wests were quite unlucky not to snatch it in the end. However, a very good performance by Wellington United up to that point and they should take confidence from taking a point off one of the league's favourites.

Hicham Kamri's goal was rather spectacular. Wellington United's captain Trent Watson had a superb game also.DKP222009-04-18 18:27:52

Pleasant day at Petone Memorial, Rovers scored first little guy upfront "abba" very quick turned a Petone defender easily and took goal well.

Petone scored last kick first half & then again after restart. Two Barron goals were technically excellent both times good control and slotted. He was a bit slow to warm into it but his touch and passing after first twenty was excellent. He had a part in the other two as well, Sticks goal came from a quick free quick where Barron showed good vision. Flick with head at near post

Wouldn't say Petone were dominant they played some nice football for good periods but Rovers were robust and put themselves about abit, all fair just strong. Rovers were not to bad at corner time and Petone struggled to clear on a  few occasions. Rovers run out of steam really

A couple of Petone's young lads had good games the guy in the left side Layton or something. They played some nice short one touch football.

4 -1 suggest dominance but it wasn't overall, Rovers played ok and will trouble teams at Park Island now their 4 game away streak is over. Apprently they asked for this due to pitch out of action.

Good game with quick tempo

To be honest mate the tackles were fairly dirty. The straight red I think should have been a sending off on chotey. In terms of the sending our 2nd player off for 2 yellows..well that was a big call and I didnt agree with it.

If you watch the Chelsea Arsenal FA Cup match this morning apparently Chelsea were denied a goal for taking the free kick quickly. The reason for this (as explained by the commentator) was because the referee was talking with opposition players, hence why the free kick got disallowed. This is why the greeks felt that two points had been taken from them unfairly.
The red cards are not so much the issue..

I was at the game between Miramar and Olympic and if Olympic had just kept playing football they would have won easy. Miramar were not in the game in the first 45, miramar had to make a change before half time cause their left back was no where to be seen and then G little came on at half time and the game changed he appeared to stir it up abit. I know there was a couple of all in push and stove in the first half but hey passion is good for the game. There were some poor tackles put in from both sides, with regard to the quick free kick as i mentioned earlier if only Olympic kept playing, they weren't happy with the free kick and were all round the referee and the Miramar player kicked the ball into an empty net. I pick each week which game to go and watch I picked the right one this week, bloody good game!

I wasnt at the game, but there is a difference between the ref talking to the defenders and the defenders arguing with the ref.

Ref had a shocker on Mars free kick goal. He was clearly talking to the Olympic players and making gestures to get them back 10 yards. Horrible mistake from the ref and the greeks should feel very upset with the decision. Poor decision that costs the Greeks 2 points.

That's not the way I hear it.  Word from the Mar camp is the whole thing happened in 10 seconds.  Utting was having a drink (not that kind) and Olympic players were trying to sort their wall out, but ref was not "having a chat".  Woody took the initiative.  Goal.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Want any proof that Lower Hutt City should give Wairarapa United a whale of a game in their central league soccer clash at Queen Elizabeth Park oval in Masterton tomorrow?

Well, even just a cursory glance at their likely team list should do the trick.

Former All White Phil Patterson and Costa Rican Luis Corrales, the winner of the golden boot award as the leading goal scorer in this year's national league, are just two notables in a star-studded line-up.

A Chilean by the name of Garcia also has a big reputation and then there are a host of national age group or secondary schoolboy reps like Adam Church????, Rodney Mays, Dane Rayner, Steven Gulley???, Sam Blackburn and Chris Campbell to boost their resources. (Great research)

No wonder then that come the start of this season Wairarapa United coach Phil Keinzley was actually touting Lower Hutt City as one of the prime contenders for the central league title, and he still thinks that way despite their current one win, two loss record.

"A team with all their talent can't be put down, you have to think they'll starting stringing wins together sooner than later," Keinzley said.

"Obviously they have had some issues but no way can we take anything for granted, it's going to be one hell of a battle."

Keinzley anticipates Lower Hutt City playing a similar style of soccer to defending central league champions Miramar Rangers, to whom Wairarapa United lost 5-3 on Easter Friday before drawing 1-1 with Taranaki three days later.

Wairarapa United also have a 4-0 victory over Wellington United to their credit which has them sitting in third equal place on the competition table with 4 points, one more than Lower Hutt City.

Keinzley recalls Miramar Rangers using a combination of pace and tactical nous to get their strikers behind the Wairarapa United defence and he sees Lower Hutt City looking to take a leaf out of their book.

"They will fancy their chances of exposing us defensively and that's the big challenge for us, we have to be rock solid at the back," he said.

"How we handle the pressure they put on us is going to be very important, any slip ups and they'll pounce, you can guarantee that.".

Goalkeeper Sacha Nathu has been one of the success stories for Wairarapa United so far this season but as was shown in the Miramar Rangers game-and again late in the Taranaki match when a late goal was conceded - he also requires the solid support of those in front of him to keep the ball out of the back of the net.

And the support given him by the likes of James Oxtoby, Carl Shailer, Waisake Sabatu and Sakeo Valevou has not always been solid enough.

In the midfield too there has been problems with the consistency of the defensive play. The usually reliable Mierik Tvaroh was sadly out of sorts against Miramar Rangers but was back to something like his old self in the second half against Taranaki

It's no over-exaggeration of Tvaroh's influence over the past few seasons to say that when he plays well Wairarapa United play well and the locals will want him at his assertive best tomorrow.

Also on the Wairarapa United wish list will be a more cohesive attacking effort so that players with the proven goal scoring capabilities of Pita Rabo, Adam Cowan and Seule Soromon are able to push forward with the confidence of knowing the support play from players such as Aaron Spierling, and Paul Gregory will rend them valuable assistance.

Given that everything goes according to plan Wairarapa United can beat Lower Hutt City and maintain a healthy position near the front of the points table.

Anything less very probably won't be good enough.

Coach's stirs Team Taranaki

Team Taranaki responded to a halftime barracking to turn around its Central League football match against Palmerston North Marist yesterday and come away with a 3-2 victory.

Head coach Ian McGrath was less than impressed by a lethargic first half display at New Plymouth's Yarrow Stadium.

It left his side trailing 1-0 after a well-taken goal from Marist skipper David McCorkindale, so he let his charges know about it.

"I was disappointed to have to go in and do it, but it was necessary and the team responded particularly in the first 20 minutes of the second half," he said.

"I felt all round it was a very apathetic performance in the first half and the people who came here to watch deserved a whole lot more."

Whatever McGrath said at the break it worked wonders. In the first couple of minutes of the second spell striker Tomas Mosquera and midfielder Nick Betteridge tested former Woodleigh gloveman Sam Westlake in the Marist goal.

Then on the 50 minute mark John Sigurdsson went one better. Picking up a flick-on from Mosquera, the midfielder found himself in the penalty box and calmly put the ball past Westlake.

Significantly the second, which came just minutes later, was scored by Mosquera, the striker McGrath has put so much faith in this season.

The teenager ran on to a long through ball and his initial shot cannoned into Westlake, but Mosquera had the presence of mind to put away the rebound.

"He's been trying very hard over the last few games perhaps a little too hard and he needed to get a goal just to lift that pressure off himself really," said McGrath. "I think he'll benefit hugely from that goal."

Midfield dynamo Tyson Brandt got the third 10 minutes into the second spell. Matt Kelbrick held the ball up in the box before laying it back to Brandt who drove his shot low to the keeper's right.

Marist did have chances to get back into the match.

National league player Issac Duker was guilty of rolling a shot wide after rounding Taranaki keeper Mike Reive and both Brandt and Andrew Thomson were forced into goal line clearances.

When Marist finally did find a second goal through Khair Jones there was just minutes remaining and Taranaki was able to hold on for a nervous but deserved victory.

The three points banked yesterday lift Taranaki into mid-table and could prove invaluable later in the season.

The ref clearly had the attention of the Olympic players and to allow such a goal in that circumstance was horrible.

I guarentee 99 times out of 100 if it was us who were in that position the ref would of called it back imediatlly.

Why take a drink, when he had to set up the wall for the freekick.. seems like dehydration had already kicked in and he had a brain explosion costing you all 3points.

The Worst thing about mirmars equaliser was the fact that the referee was marching the boys back 10yds, which was fair enough because earlier in the first half raf had tried to take a quick free kick but was told to retake it as the referee had said that he always starts marching 10 yds unless a player calls for a quick free kick. therefore he had set a precedent in the first half which he should have stuck with, it shouldnt be one set of rules for one team then one set for another, then as the ref has his back turned to wiremu patrick woody has taken the ball to the side then passed it to an empty net. I have no problem with woodys decision, it was cheeky and the worst that would happen should have been a retake. when the ref was questioned by raf regarding the quick free kick he couldnt answer and when jamie oconnor had questioned him about him marching the boys back 10yds and talking to them (taking their attn away from the free kick) he froze and couldnt answer....

end of the day 2 points lost, and if the referees want the respect programme to work they are gonna have to be accountable for their decisions...because that is not a mistake he had the opportunity to over rule his decision but chose not to.

On another note, a comment was made by a miramar player following the game, about greeks...If this was an olympic player Yellow fever would have erupted but barely a mention on this occasion. lovely.

I agree with aekara, if it was olympic who said something racial we wouldnt hear the end of this. Last year we made the apparent 'monkey noises,' and got raped with bad comments about the club, but to see miramar get away with the same...hmm.

Did anyone else hear what was said or is everyone accounting on other peoples perpsectives. I would like to hear from other people who hear the comments as well.uncle steve2009-04-20 19:32:38
