Miramar help celebrate Wgtn United 125 yrs by giving the weweweNix a  6-1 Win ??⚽️⚽️???

Surely we can give up the pretense that its Wgtn United by now???  Its just the Wee Nix.

from what Paul Temple was saying yesterday on twitter - they are definitely part of Wellington United and proud to be so, especially with the club celebrating their 125th anniversary this year (from when they were founded as Diamond in 1893)

Also the new strips only have one badge - Wellington United's

Just to keep up appearances!!. Last time I saw them they all turned up in Nix tracksuits, including the coaches. Maybe that''s changed this year. We will see

it's a partnership between the two organisations so whats the point of buying a completely new set of tracksuits?

Plenty of Team Wellington gear on the Miramar bench yesterday as well

here's a pic of the team with the Commemorative Cup which is a new trophy that will be played for between Wellington United and Miramar Rangers. United top, Phoenix trackpants whats the issue?

Just saying might as well clear things up and come out and say they are the NIX.. All they doing is using Wgtn United as a name to be in the CL. Bet Wgtn United isn't the one paying the coach.

Boring...

Team Welly, Ole, Paul Ifill Academy, Kaizen Academy, Nix ... if you aren't in some sort of relationship or have a partnership with someone else then you're not going to survive.

Is any football ever discussed on this thread ha?

We (Phoenix Academy) are really privileged to be representing @WgtnUnited in their 125 anniversary season. We take it seriously, we’ve had life members talk to the players at training this week about the history of the club. Was great seeing so many people at today’s celebrations. rumour has it that Lower Hutt are trying to have their game against Stop Out moved to 5:30 so that their coach can coach Wellington United at 2:30 then make it back to Fraser Park in time to coach them.

He is. the rumour will have come from the fact that Steve Coleman, who is the Lower HUtt City coach, is also working for the academy (he took the weenix for the last couple of games of their season)

Doesn't he also coach Rathkeale College First X1? Has he got a helicopter to get him around on Saturdays ;-)

is it still a 3.30pm kickoff?

Help me....

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Rapa missing quite a few regulars, but still gave Wests a good run. Poor spectator turnout, and with their grandstand out of action all season, it will be interesting to see how many people are prepared to pay $5 to watch in the pouring rain.

Most likely the same reason Miramar are playing with TW regulars away.  #ConspiracyTeam

Think it is because both Coleman and Temple are away and with both being away one couldn't cover for the other this week. Not sure Wests were afforded the same luxury when missing players with U17 and U20 commitments, but I guess it's just fortunate that they drew each other this week so they could both approve the change. That being said it is a bit harsh on Petone facing a strengthened Hutt side tomorrow in Cap Prem as pointed out in the Cap Football preview from what is a pretty questionable decision from CF to let the game be moved.

Why would they cover each other? They coach completely seperate teams.

The restraint that Ifill and Declan are showing on Twitter (this weekend) astounds me

Permalink Permalink

Last week kick off were moved or attempted to be moved to free one up to leave and one to cover both. This week they used the influence of single employer to postpone a match that CF should never had agreed to. If there was a recent track record of this happening ie covering for national league absences or National team absences then it wouldn't be an issue, but this just seems strange.

"Saturday was also meant to see league-leaders Wellington United play Lower Hutt City, but this has been postponed withWellington United coach, Paul Temple, away on A-League duties with the Wellington Phoenix and Lower Hutt City’s coach, Steve Coleman, also away with the New Zealand Secondary Schools team travelling the USA. It is great to see the opportunities being given to our local coaches."

Rumour has it that the Wanderers have a signing who is debuting tomorrow against Miramar. Unsure of the name but have been told he played semi-professionally in ukraine a few years back.

Just maybe! some clubs don't have hidden agenda's. Obviously no stacking happened.

Wests beat Karori 4-1. Cagey first half-hour before Just opened the scoring for Wests. Davenport-Peterson equalised for Karori from a really well-delivered free kick by Kim, but Wests went up a gear and Sippola scored before the break. Clayton made it 3-1 a couple of minutes into the second half and the game died as a contest. Karori looked frustrated, couldn't string passes together and the 50-50 balls and officiating kept going against them. Davenport-Peterson got a second yellow after a couple of reckless challenges in the space of 30 seconds and Karori kind of just gave up from there. Sippola added a fourth and apart from a couple of attacks by Cain and Kim Wests were able to do pretty much whatever they wanted except add to the score.

for only the 3rd time this century and the first time since 2010, Olympic beat Miramar

Score was 3-1

Deserved win for Olympic, but they did make hard work of it, the 3rd goal came in the last 2 minutes and they didn't look comfortable at 2-1, think that was probably because it was Miramar and the fact they hadn't won against them since 2010

Olympic opened the scoring after 20 mins through Seth Ward. 10 mins later Miramar equalised with their first shot of the match a ball in from the right flank about 30 meters out, found Dom Rowe about the penalty spot and he headed in to the top of the net - A goal so good even some Olympic fans applauded!

Birhanu Taye restored the lead from the penalty spot. Mar player tripped an Olympic player on the spot, definate pen, Ref gave it and then produced a red card, Miramar complained that it wasn't, ref spoke to his AR and changed it to a yellow card

Gavin Hoy scored in the last couple of minutes to give Olympic the 3-1 win

other results

Waterside 1 Stop Out 2

Lower Hutt 5 Havelock North 2

Rapa 3 Wgtn Utd 2

Who saw the Mar vs. Oly game last night. Apparently Mar coach said that Olympicbeat their Capital premier league team and to see how they go once Team Wellington players are available 2nd round. Wonder how the current Mar squad feel being called Cap Prem level by their coach.

Wests deserved their win today - looked the sharper team.  I go the impression that NCR were too busy reading their press reports in the first half.  Anendra does a great job with his local reports, but I think our team should be banned from reading them.

Declan also deserved his little walk to the stands - came about half an hour later than I expected.

Don't piss off old people - the older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent

Between 7 n 12 CL players are in the TeeDubbs greater squad and not released until OFC finished. Some will come straight in others will take a break.

Keenan can't he's a pro?

Unfortunately, to many coaches think they are bigger then the game. Edge is on the top shelf. They crazy thing is that the guy has done absolutely nothing from a team perspective in the game as a coach.

My bad he won the CL after 4 years of trying!!!!

Pro contract starts for season 2018/19, right? Means he isn't a pro at the moment so can sign in CL.

bit of a kick in the teeth for Marcel Kampman who has been TW reserve keeper all season and played for Lower Hutt last season
