Cant be many times a team loses the opening game of the season 8-0 & doesnt find itself bottom of the Central League.

Wasn't it 9? And they have Bubbles next week too. Yikes.

Taking a 3-0 default next(every) week may be the least embarassing option ;-)

Comet say 10,  rapa Twitter says 9.

Who'd have thought the main discussion point would be wether final scores were actually 8,9 or 10 in CL !

Stop Out took their chances, that was the difference yesterday.

Will largely depend on the extent of involvement of TeeDubs players.

They weren't great, and went down 3-0 to wests

wow rapa losing 10 zip!! I bet coach Chettleburgh lost his rag, he's a competitor and wont accept results like that. Maybe they're missing Phil's coaching?? Could be a long season and wooden spoon for them.

United have lost 11-1 to Olympic

Permalink Permalink
almost 7 years ago · edited almost 7 years ago · History

Wests have beaten Lower Hutt 2-0.

In the earlier games Napier needed a very late goal to take all three points over Karori after being down 1-0 for a lot of the game. North Wellington beat Rapa 3-2 and Stop Out drew 2-all with Miramar in a game I hear there was a guy running around in a Mankini!

Can there be a mid season promo/relo between United and top of Prem so we dont have to see these scores all season?

Could decide the league on goal difference if United figure out how to lose only 3-4 nil in a few games time ..

I've been told the Phoenix only let United know in January they were going to end the partnership, which if true is an absolute joke when most clubs have their coaches lined up and start recruiting months before that, and that's clubs that don't have to recruit a new team from scratch. IF what I was told was correct, they've left United in the lurch and compromised the integrity of the league.

The Phoenix  pulled Wellington United out of financial difficulty at the time they formed the partnership. United had endured some heavy losses. Lower Hutt also has had some poor financial results since they lost their cash cow (pokie money) so they would have been keen for The Nix to get involved.

They have known for a long time that the partnership could/would end at the end of their MOU. They also had an extension by all accounts. It's United that needed to have made better plans for when they went solo, and didnt.

Nix academy players and coaching staff moving away from Wellington Utd in 2019. Next club will be Lower Hutt.

Of course WU may not read the forum to find out what was happening with their club ;-)

United conceded another 10 goals today. What a joke! I think you'd find many Cap1 teams putting out better results!

The board will be calling for an urgent meeting tomorrow. Not sure a loss was in the budget for the Bling vs. Wests today.

Agreed. Wests were good for the 3 points from what I saw. Unlucky not to win 3-0,  Olympic were that rudderless.

Rudderless is a great adjective to describe the club..Buying success is not going to work when the leaders aren't knowledgeable to set up a team to win...Classic case and point yesterday.

What the F*ck is happening?

Apart from the obvious answer that the Nix left. That doesn't explain the shellackings

Course it does. 2nd team in Cap 5, having open trials to get a squad weeks before the season. Had to recruit an entirely new first team and build the men's club from the ground up again. Don't see the shellacking's going away this season.

This was the kind of detail i was fishing for; I am no longer on the ground in Wellington so i don't know what is happening

Re: comment about shellacking (great word) its more that the difference between a solid and comprehenisve defeat (Say between 5- 6 goals) and complete pants down (over 9 or 10 conceded) says a lot about the attitude/effort as much as the skill.

Looking at the player list on Comet, there isnt a lot of quality at all. Some good players but not enough.

If you are a Cap1 player and on the bench at your club at not enjoying it, you will prob have a good chance of playing Central League and prob improving the current squad.

Highlights what's wrong with football here, particularly with comet and it's predecessors.

I appreciate there can be privacy concerns with some of the personal information collected, but team lists / gameday squads etc. are all known by anyone at the game, and should be available publicly for anyone with an interest in footbal or football stats
