Ha!  That was years ago SirLes.  And i think we established along time ago that I don't deserve to be in CL.

Tawa controlled the bast majority of the game.  SHould have killed the game up by half-time.  THey did have a goal ruled out, whcih looked legit from where i was standing.  Tawa looked a bit shell shocked after  Red sock equallised, from a ripper of a free kick about 35 yards out.  Red socks had a good spell of 10mins after thier second goal, but didn't really create any clear chances  But tawa definately deserved to go through.

From a neutrals perspective was a great game

My overall thoughts

Tawa:
What a 2 half display - absolutely dominate in the first half, and then imploded in the second and were actually yelling at each other across the field in the second.
The Tawa keeper basically had to pick the ball out of the back of the net twice and that was it.
IF they can play like they did in the first half will dominate WU

Red Sox:
Didn't look like they were going to score - and basically did from the only 2 chances they had. One a speculative skidder that the Tawa keeper blew out on, second a stunning freekick from about 30 yards.
Had some serious weaknesses on the flanks

Overall Tawa should of wrapped it up, and almost shot themselves in the foot. Weather didn't help though, both keepers made to look silly by the skidding ball

Snore.

Is Tawa really going to beat Wellington United? Really. United matched it with most of the teams in Central league but a few major flaws lacked them from winning any.

What makes Tawa a better side than United?
(Probably a better backline)

yep, just confirmed it, 2-2 on the day, 3-2 to tawa on agg.sorry 2nd best, anyone who gets chipped twice by Geoff Romijn doesn't deserve to play central league

I'm sure if 2nd Best was given the chance again that the same thing would happen

Looking at the league table, I'd say the duck-egg under the W column is a fair indication.

Throw in the fact Wellington United finished ninth out of ten in the same division last season ... seems to me the capital's first National League-winning club needs a spell away from the limelight to get their house in order before challenging for top honours again.

Cheers,

JR

United also went further in the Cup than Western Suburbs, who are in the same division, i.e Central League.

Wests were first in CL, United last. But by your argument, United are better.

Nice.

If Tawa can wind up Hicham, and turn around the slowish WU defence, then Tawa all the way.

However, if they lose the plot and panic, then it's anyones game

Yeah but Red Sox defense was woeful, and Tawa didn't look that terrifying.

As for Hicham (I thought that was his name), the very big and strong and fast Iraqi (again i believe) WU have up front

Pretty much scored all of WU goals all season - I am just saying, he is their main and only real threat. If Tawa shut him down, WU will have no back up plan.

have welly utd got the defence to stop the tawa attack? peter whiters is a quality player and raemakers plays well with him up front as i know having played them this year

Like I said Skylab, he is best ignored.  He has an irrational hate for everything that isn't himself.
