Apparently I am some sort of result picking genius!!!!

Anyway, I missed the first few mins where Wgtn dominated, after that they looked like scoring on counter attack or set piece only. Good goal from big Trent for utd.

All pressure on the orange now, though if they get a couple more sh1t pens like they did second half yesterday, they will be back in it.

Hi all, I just want to clear something up from earlier posts (sorry I couldn't be botherered finding the particular posts). First up for those who don't know, I'm Chairman Of Welly U. Its my punishment for a lot of sinful living in a past life. I wasn't at the game but I've spoken with Deano our coach about not going back to the tawa rooms after the game - the simple reason was that he wasn't asked. Mike Wood was there, as was the Tawa coach, and neither asked him so any invite that was extended was given to the wrong guy. Nor was any invite given to JB or Ian Rogers and they are well known to the Tawa management and players. The first Deano heard was well after the game from one of our players who got a pissed off text from a Tawa guy, but far too late. Deano would never stop people going either as someone suggested in a post.
Anyway, at Miramar on Saturday we will provide an after match, most likely using the Miramar rooms, and I will personally make sure that message gets through. That way all you gentle souls at Tawa won't be offended whenyou go to Newtown and its all shut up. OK?

I will be the first one to apologise as it seems miscommunication or whatever. If you take it from a players perspective you could see the bitterness if you don't see the other team come into the clubrooms after the game and that's why I was thinking it wasn't on. Anyway that's all cleared up and given that the first game was played in good spirit even though maybe there shouldn't have been a red card for Wgtn Utd or a penalty for Wgtn Utd. Hopefully the second game will be played in good spirit and will be hard fought and the team that wins through on aggregate are the deserved team to be in central league in 2010.
PS the text wasn't that pissed off just wanting to know why Wgtn were a no show

don't agree- not with statement about poor losers cos i wasn't there

it should be the duty of the host to invite a visitig team back, yes, its a bit of a charade but is courtesy- not commenting on this occasion, cos like i said i wasn't there

but invite should come from the hosts

Yeah, have to agree with the Tawa guys here. As we are referring to adults and the customary nature of away teams in both the premier league and central league to visit the oppositions club rooms after each away game, why think things are any different during playoff games?. Tawa always extends an "pen invititation" to both home and away supporters, players and the like to visit the clubrooms and have a few beers etc after each game. I know Mike Wood personally and he would extend a warm welcome to all and any Wellington United players, team officials and supporters.

It is a shame that certain people involved in Wellington United are coming up with feeble excuses why  NO ONE  from Wellington United attended the Tawa Clubrooms after the game to give a speach and show their respect, but heh this could show more than just a crack in their team structure and be a clear sign of a team in complete disaray behind the scenes. I also think it is a poor excuse to say as "no one else was going I decided not to go either". In this day and age it seems Wellington United players and team officials have lost respect for the opposition and they should they a long hard look at themselves. It would seem the Wellington United players, coach and team officials need to take more than just a close review of their performance on the field last week, as they should all carefully scrutinise their actions and attitudes off it!

Anyways...moving on....what are the predictions for the game this week?

Have to also say full credit to the Tawa supporters on Saturday. Been a while since I last heard a horn been blowed at a football game in New Zealand so frequently! Angus is relentless with his chants, goes overboard a wee bit especially with the Dale ****KD a whale chant but he is a solid supporter of Tawa AFC and you have to value him for that. In time his words and chants will be more refined im sure.

On the whole really great to see and hear such vocal and solid support for Tawa at a football game, if only my club (Wainuiomata) had the same support we would truly be a force to be reckoned with!  If the Tawa Supporters turn up in full voice again on Saturday, my prediction is Tawa to "bring home the bacon" and win 3-0!

The battle is still very much alive. If Wellington come out like they did last week and manage to play like that all game then they still have a good shot of staying up. 1 nil up to Wellington and it will be all pressure on Tawa due to Wellington having an away goal.

However, if Tawa go 1 nil up, Wellington will struggle to come back, and if Tawa go 2 nil up the tie will be well and truly over.

Just a quick question el grapadura. From a person whos location shows as Saudi Arabia, how did you manage to watch the Tawa game at Endeavour on Saturday?

Less likely this week with Jamie Nicholas back in defence.

ha yes I think it will be hard to pin back tawa now. I wonder how many players from the firsts will leave if they get relegated to champs? I'm guessing everybody including the coach maybe dale will stay and davey? can't imagine to more. Wonder if tawa would even want any of there players maybe sam green?

Yeap it would seem Tawa have it all to loose from here which is a dangerous situation. Wellington United with their backs against the wall and a glimour of hope aren't written off yet. If they had managed even one goal in the first half last week things could have paned out differently. The key is who gets the first goal. If Tawa, i think there will be no way back for Wellington United and heads will go down, if Wellington United it is game on!

The other key is the support that Tawa brings to their playoff games! This i beleive must have played a big part in their 1-0 away win in Palmerston North! After 2-0 up in the 2nd leg it would be fair to say they got a little complacent and the Red Sox lifted. The key this week for Tawa will be to shut Wellington United out of the game (particularly their top goal scorer up front), to not allow themselves to rest on any lead and play with intent until the final whistle. This is where Tawa supporters come in, to give their team that boost until the end! All things considered a 3-0 win in style im sure would be the icing on the cake for Tawa and their supporters on Saturday.

I will be there to enjoy what unfolds! Bring it on!
